Title: Enniskillen Comic Fest 2018 - May 11th - 12th
Post by: BPP on 25 February, 2018, 02:27:00 AM
Just so all boarders are aware - if you want the antidote to big faceless cons and to attend a very chilled relaxed long-time-to-chat-with-creators then the Enniskillen comic festival is the place. Last year you could have sat and talked to the likes of Clint Langley or John Wagner for half an hour without interruption. Only Carlos was flat out entertaining the masses. This year the organisers have again assembled a huge gathering of droids--

Dan Abnett & Nik Vincent
Jock
Boo Cook *
INJ Culbard
Phil Winslade
Dom Reardon
Simon Coleby
DANI *
PJ Holden
Eoin Coveney
Glenn Fabry
Michael Carroll
Ryan Brown
Colin McNeil *

(* - the PR Announcing these three seems to have disappeared so maybe they're not confirmed anymore)

Anyway Enniskillen is not only beautiful it's also an incredibly cheap part of the country to visit and if you book flights now you'll get cheap flights. Go to Enniskillen and never want to go to a big comic con again. It's like the lakes, but with nicer lakes. 😉

I'll definitely be there! Looking forward to it.

BTW, it's MacNeil, not McNeil. I don't know, 30 years drawing comics and people still spell my name wrong. mumble, mumble, grumble, grumble...... ::)

:D

Fingers crossed I'll get a chance to get up to ECF this year.  Enniskillen is one of my favourite spots, and that's another juicy line-up - if nothing else I'd very much like the opportunity to buy Colin several beers!

Yup, last year was brilliant. Well organised and a great after do as well.
As BPP points out another great line up, no confirmation of a venue though?
Fingers crossed I'll be there selling some of Hibernia's wares.

You mean Colin McNeil isn't coming? We'll just have to put up with this MacNeil fella instead...

(sorry)

Mary David - venue is moved from the castle (beautiful but impractical) to St Macartin Cathedral Hall.

All the latest on the festival is at https://www.facebook.com/EnniskillenComicFest/

And for Thargs sake someone keep Ryan Browne away from the Sherry this year.

Just bumping this thread to see who is going.

I have a table booked, so I will be selling the new Fleetway Files(Fingers crossed it will be back from the printer) and lots of other bits mainly brit stuff like Warlord, Valiant, Battle etc. Do drop by and say hello!

No overnight for me this year though, so the visit to the pub afterward may not be as late:)

Myself and Mrs BPP will be there.

Although have a feeling for her nothing will top Carlos Ezquerra interrupting her to tell her she had 'beautiful eyes'. That old dawg knows how to twirl a moustache and make a young lady swoon.

Guys if you were restricted to a single day either 11th or 12th, what might be the best/recommended day to visit?

Thanks for any forthcoming advice.

Stupid last post. It seems it would plainly be the 12th right?

Apologies for time-wasting.

Any updates on forum members attending?

'bout ye. I wasn't able to swing a stay over but am really hoping to be able to get down for the day on Saturday. Cracker line up again, I'd be a bit gutted if I can't make it.

A great day in Enniskillen. Brilliant venue and a great line up, spoke to loads of creators, best news it that there will be more Brink, and maybe plenty more!

Spoke to Mike Carroll, PJ, Prodigal and loads others, picked up a good few small press, plenty of all age material which is badly needed,  the highlight of the small press is Splank!, a recreation/homage to the Power comics of the sixties, really professional and funny too, well worth picking up.

I had my oldest two at it and they enjoyed it, plenty of sales as well!

Masssive shout of thanks to the organisers and the guests of Enniskillen CC - an amazing day for any 2000AD fan - spoke to INJ Cullbard, Phil Winslade and Dom Reardon for about 40 minutes a piece, Dan Abnett, Boo Cook, Simon Davis and Glenn Fabry for shorter but still way longer than you'd get access elsewhere. Who's that walking over and asking what art you've just bought? Oh its Jock, hi Jock.

Seriously chilled relaxed fun interaction with everyone we encountered - sector 13 guys, PJ..

Didn't even really get time to see Will Simpson, Eoin Coveney or DaNI all of whom had busy tables. Nor Colin MacNeil who was as popular as ever.

Thanks again to all the creatives and organisers - its simply a great day if you're a 2000AD fan.

I ended up having to miss this, I had a list of sketches all lined up and was looking forward to the crack. Great to hear it was another success! Also pleased to hear Eoin Coveney was busy, last year he was beside Carlos so I think he was a bit outshone and he's such a nice fella to chat with, never mind brilliant artist.

I will not miss next year...

Great to see so many of the forumites at the Con and really enjoyed chatting to you.
We launched issue 3 of our Fanzine there and doubled our sales of it compared to last year.
This means even more money to plough back into printing even more if the next one. A great days craic. Z
