Creative Common / Budding Artist

As some of you know I work in a school, and every chance I get I try to get the kids into Dredd. One student I introduced Dredd to has since moved schools but boy can this kid draw. He really wants to get into comics. I spoke to Bolt about him at Bristol about me sending him(Bolt) some of his artwork. What i would really like to do is give him something to draw comicwise. Has anyone got a short story or a story template i can give to him to work on. Dredd would be nice. I woud like to post the finished articale on here. I'm no art critic but i know a good comic bokk artist when i see one. The student is 15.
Thanks.

Bought this in Nottingham on Saturday. I forgot how good the artwork by both Gibbons and Bellardinelli was. I havnt looked at this story for years but flicking through the pages was a delight. Gibbons visions of the opposing Aeroball teams is still stunning nearly 35 years later. As for Bellardinelli, I think it was a case of having the right artist for the story. Cannot image anyone else doing Inferno. A little gem of a graphic novel. Apologies if this has been a past topic.

Having met Colin YNWA at Kapow, i was wondering if there was anyone else here on the boards within a 30 mile radius of Chesterfield? This is a big area and incorporates Sheffield, Derby and Nottingham. Colin and i are gona meet up for a beer over the summer so if there are any "locals" who would like to join us please get in touch.

General / Was wondering...........
22 January, 2011, 07:50:51 PM
.............if anyone on here has been influenced over the years reading Dredd. For example the way they deal with crime in MC1, the politics etc. I have been reading on and off since prog 1 (was 9 yrs old at the time) and i have to say i have a secret admiration for instant justice, especially for the most severest of crimes and tougher sentences, also i have no qualms with all the CCTV either. I do think that reading Dredd over the years has influenced at least in some of these leanings.

General / Greatest Dredd work
03 October, 2010, 08:25:04 PM
Just looking through some old progs and stuff and was wondering what everyones favourite piece of Dredd artwork was by four of the greatest. Carlos Ezquerra, Brian Bolland, Mike Mcmahon and Ron Smith.

Carlos Ezquerra....I always thought Carlos drew Dredd better when he wasnt in MC1, some of his best stuff was done on Koburn, Origins, but my fav piece will always will be the Johnny Alpha/Dredd final page in Judgement Day.

Brian Bolland.....will always be remembered for that center spread of the Dark Judges but my favourite bit of Bolland Dredd work is the cover of the 1983 Judge Dredd Annual with all his old foes behind him.

Mike Mcmahon.....Block Mania springs to mind but Mcmahon was excellent when he drew the Angel Gang in The Judge Child Quest.

Ron Smith....One story always stood out for by Ron Smith...Pirates of the Black Atlantic was superb.
