Ha! I just checked out that advent art. I'm late to the game so hadn't seen that before. Future Henry Flints! Brilliant stuff! They deserve reposting.

Brilliant work by the shaolin_monkies:

Since Tharg doesn't seem much interested in printing reader's art these days (either that or none of you are sending in pictures such as "Judge Ukko", "Rogue Quinch" or "Nemestein" anymore) I thought I'd share this drawing my 4 year old son did during the week. I'm a very proud daddy.

Any possibility of getting upgraded? I feel like I'm in an isocube looking out at the rest of the forums.
Thanks!

Congratulations to the newly weds! The bride looks both lovely and authoritative. Fair play to you for getting her to agree to it.
Much better than my Ace Garp themed wedding.

I've just finished re-reading Shako and the violence and gore is hilariously over the top. I had forgotten that 'kids' comics in the 70's could be so bloody. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, in the strip is torn apart and killed before the end. I recall Flesh being equally gruesome with far more focus on bodies being torn apart than on character development. Even MACH 1 seemed to involve multiple deaths per issue.

Could you ask Pat if he misses those simpler days, when our expectations as readers were lower and all the audience wanted was blood, gore and body parts and remorse wasn't an issue?

Hi All,

Like a number of recent first time posters I'm a long-time reader/ more recent forum lurker. My history with the prog dates back to the last century when I bought it every week from 328 to 922 before life got in the way and I took a sabbatical.

I got back into it this time last year and have thoroughly enjoying getting up to speed again. Back in the olden days I was a huge fan of Glenn Fabry's Slaine, Cam Kennedy's Rogue Trooper and just about anything by Mike McMahon and Ian Gibson. This time round I'm very impressed by Absalom, Brass Sun and the new Dredd film.

Also subtly introducing my son to Dredd as an antidote to Spidey and Iron Man.

The tone of the film would translate really well to a TV series: gritty, low-tech, character based drama. I'd love to see that show.

Although the fact that all of the props are being flogged off in the PropStore auction at the end of the month looks like the final nail in the coffin of a sequel.
