I don't know why the only 2000 AD merchandise anyone is obsessing over is this silly ole video game.  Heroclix is due out on October 1 !!

A shop in Doraville GA was pre-selling the Indy Heroclix expansion this weekend.  I bought five boxes and got a blue Judge Hershey, yellow and red Johnny Alpha and a Unique Judge Death.  I also got a pile of boring Kabuki characters with white faces and edged weapons, but the thrillpower's the important stuff.  Judge Death is fantastic: his dial is set up so that he can come back to life!

I'd still like to know whether there is any truth to the rumor that the UK is getting 24 extra 2000 AD Heroclix characters at the insistence of Rebellion.  Some Heroclix players have been defending WizKids by claiming that Rebellion would only license 2000 AD characters if most of them were released exclusively in England.  Can anyone comment?  (And I still think there should be an offer for an exclusive Clik in the pages of the Megazine...!)

If only I had a babysitter tonight, I'd go use my 2000 AD Clix in a local tourney this evening... *pout*

Plus his defense drops down really low at that point and he gains phasing, so it's easy to get him back to your medics.

It IS a bit like Pokemon.

I think the reasoning I heard gmslegion is that 2000AD isn't that big in the states, while you are getting more of another publisher, which is.

I'm sure you'll find UK fans willing to do some sort of trade if you get get rid of their strange unrecognisably indie figures for them!

Grant Goggans

It's a bit of a mix between Pokemon, Warhammer and chess.  But now I can have Johnny Alpha lay the smack down on the X-Men!

"I'd still like to know whether there is any truth to the rumor that the UK is getting 24 extra 2000 AD Heroclix characters at the insistence of Rebellion."

Nope, no truth in that one at all. As far as we are concerned, all 2000 AD Indy Heroclix will be available in every territory in which they are sold.

We certainly haven't laid down any strictures preventing one of our biggest potential markets from playing one of the fastest growing hobby games in history with our characters, and possibly getting into other 2000 AD-related things, such as the comics, from there, because it wouldn't make any sense for us to do so.

We want people in the US playing the game with our characters.

Hope that clears that one up.

I'm very, very, very pleased that this is Rebellion's position.  And I genuinely think that Heroclix is the best promotional tool you could ask for to get people reading.  Many local players are buying more Marvel and DC comics than they used to.  I've started looking at some CrossGen books and bought a Hellboy collection after seeing these characters in Indy.  I've ordered 5 copies of 2000 AD #1356, which ships in the US on Wednesday along with the Indy collection, to give to local players as a promotion, and printed up a little "2000 AD fact sheet" to go along with it.

Unfortunately, WizKids is not going to distribute 24 of the 2000 AD characters in America at this time.  Dredd, Hershey, Alpha, Anderson and Death are available internationally, but the REV versions (three sets each) of Fear, Fire, Mortis, Wulf, Stix, Nemesis, Torquemada and "Brit-Cit Judge" are all slated for UK-only distribution.  There was a rumor on hcrealms.com that this was Rebellion's decision.  I am very pleased to see this is false.

Perhaps a spellchecker?:)

Considering that I'm not going to 'play' with them and would only get them for the sake of it (if I had the money) how much are they?

Grant Goggans

Oh, there's no telling.  In the US, you get a box of four randomly-packed characters for $7.00.  Individual pieces range from 35 cents to $100 on the secondary market, depending on their rarity.  Alpha and Hershey will probably be quite common, Dredd less so, and Anderson and Death are "Uniques."  There's one (of 12) Unique per six boosters, so getting the one you want is tricky.  They'll probably go for ~$15 apiece on eBay.  I don't know how the 24 UK-only Clix will be packed.

The Indy expansion includes, apart from the 2000 AD figures, several folks from Top Cow's Witchblade lines, some of the characters from Shi and Kabuki, 4 characters from Danger Girl, a handful of different CrossGen characters from some of their comics, and some from Hellboy: Lobster Johnson, Rasputin, Hecate and two different Hellboys, one with horns and one without.  The "common" Hellboy is probably the best sculpt in the game.

they are just avaible out here.
there is a games workshop franchise recently opened. and a few otehr specialist comic shops now.
they seem to have no problem selling them per piece out here. so i am hoping to be one of the few after only the tooth characters, which with luck will be cheaper then the DC ones.

keep my eyes open. let you all know if this is the case. then post the internet contact addresses for the sellers.

ok i was interested. so i looked it up on google for those of us who are not quite sure.
i cut and paste here.

How to Play
Before you begin you need to decide how many build points each player is going to have for their team, this build total must be in multiples of 100 and for each 100 points your team gets 1 action. Each player then rolls 2 dice to decide who goes first, and then you take it in turns to place objects on the map (which are represented by round tokens). The starting area for each player extends 2 squares away from his edge of the map and at least 4 squares away from any other edge. Your characters' starting point is shown on the combat by a green line, all your figures need to be turned to this position before the start of the game. Your characters also have an icon on the base to indicate their team association; each team has abilities that affect their force which is indicated on the Super Powers/Team Abilities card. Some of the characters also have coloured squares in the combat dial stat slot which represents the characters' super powers and are also shown on the Super Powers/Team Abilities card. Some of the characters have a coloured combat dial rather than the standard black combat dial. Two characters with the same coloured combat dial are considered Arch Enemies and therefore cannot be included in the same team, e.g. Spiderman and Hobgoblin both have red bases and are therefore Arch Enemies and can not fight in the same team. If a character wipes out his Arch Enemy (i.e. 3 KO's in the combat dial) then he gets double victory points for that figure. Victory points are awarded by each character that has been KO'd's build points.
At the start of each turn you have a certain number of actions which stays the same throughout the game and depends on the build points of your team, e.g. if you have a total of 100 build points you get 1 action, 200 build points 2 actions, etc. An action involves either moving a character, making a ranged or close combat attack or pass. Once you have used all your actions it becomes your opponents turn.
If you give a character an action on 2 consecutive turns then at the end of the second turn he receives 1 click of damaged and CANNOT be given an action on the next turn. This is to show the character becoming 'fatigued', caused by taking actions back to back. The speed number on the combat dial is how many squares your character can move in a given action and he can move to any squares adjacent to the square he occupies, as long as he doesn't move through a square occupied by another character or impassable terrain, if this is the case then he has to move round the obstacle or character (unless the character can fly). When a character finishes his action on a square occupied by another character, this character has to attempt to 'break away' by rolling a D6 dice. If you roll a 1, 2, or 3 he fails and can't move and on a 4, 5, or 6 succeeds and can move.

it seems quite simple to pick up. and fun. you could have an entire 2000ad set and beat all those DC and MARVEL toe rags to bits ,
sadly you cant have dredd and death on your team at the same time.

seems like a simple but fun game though.
