To be fair Star Wars is probably the most recognisable movie theme ever and I would probably put the Raiders March in second place. I think many people, these days, would mix up Superman with Stars Wars or Raiders.

I forgot about Jurassic Park although I cant hear it now without thinking of the Brett Domino version.

John Williams is third on my all time great list. For me Ennio Morricone is the greatest and John Barry is second.

While they all produced many memorable tunes I think the others had a greater and more varied body of work. John Williams greatest work is split between three different film series (Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Superman) and a lot of the same music/themes were reused within those films.

Before everyone slags me off/asks why I am daring to contribute to this thread/demands I am kicked off the board I still love John Williams. I own many of his soundtracks and I don't put any other film composer in the same bracket as the three I have mentioned here. I would just narrowly consider the other two as being 'a bit more legendary' than John Williams.

I'm not a Trekkie but can enjoy some of the movies. I usually find most of the TV shows a bit slow moving.

The one thing that puzzles me though is why do they not set a series that post dates Voyager or Deep Space 9? Why is this series and the recent films back in the past of the Star Trek Universe?

While the name Kid Knee didn't go over my head when I was a nipper the name Durham Red continues to do so.

For some reason I seem to remember a school friend and myself thinking it was a type of chicken. I don't think this is the case though.

There is a brick called a Durham Red and there is a breed of cow called a Durham and is sometimes known as a Durham Red.

Maybe this has come up before but anyone know where Wagner/Grant got her name from?

Assault on Precinct 13 has many similarities to Schifrin's score to Dirty Harry (Scorpio's Theme in particular) but it's just not quite as good.

I think both were also influenced by a Led Zeppelin tune named Immigrant Song. Give each a listen and you will notice some similarities.

If you like film scores then you should listen to the El Diabolik podcast. It mainly features music from Italian cinema but that is no bad thing.

I'm not a big fan of horror and that's where I first heard the Cannibal Holocaust theme. Its a lovely piece of music but I wouldn't have connected that theme tune to that film.

I find it hard to look past Morricone and Barry.

The soundtracks to the three 'Dollar' westerns by Ennio Morricone are classics and feature great pieces of music such as the Ecstasy of Gold and Carillon. Once Upon a Time in the West is probably just as good. I saw him in concert in Belfast a number of years back and Ecstasy of Gold was the only one of his pieces that he played twice. I think that is probably his greatest work and yet its only used once in a scene in The Good The Bad and the Ugly.

John Barry's 007 theme is great and for me just as iconic as the James Bond theme.

Hans Zimmer's best scores for me were Black Hawk Down and the game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. I don't think he improved on these and find that his music now is just loud banging noises.

I would guess most of the reprints are scanned from the prog. For example in the Mega Collection would all the earlier, pre-digital stories not just be scans from the prog?

I know for some of the hardback collections like Zenith and The Cursed Earth they got original art but I cant see them doing that for all their reprints.

As a child of the 70's I grew up with Sir Roger as my favourite James Bond and had many fond memories of him. I know most people prefer Sean (and I have nothing against him) but the Moore Bonds edged it for me.

I vaguely remember an Australian children's programme about a young boy travelling around with a tough, white-haired old man named, I think, Cole, who sometimes earned money by getting into head-butting contests. There may also have been a Native Australian character and a small, scruffy dog as well. Anyone remember this, or what it was called?

That sounds like a series just crying out to be remade for today's youth.

They were certainly one of the more original acts on Britain's Got Talent. Can't believe they didn't get through to the final.

Val Kilmer was also great in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang with Robert Downey Jr. Very funny in places. I like him.
