Merry Christmas!
Brilliant start to this years advent calendar, nice one Pete :D
Ha-ha - that's the best caricature of me since Crimewatch UK! Still waiting to hear 'Deathnuts' as the wife is watching her 'Grimm' but it's good to see the shitey standard has been maintained. Need to tweak mine for a few zingers of my own now!
Classic Pete. Loved it!
http://dbroughton.blogspot.co.uk/
Well done, Pete. I chortled, guffawed and laughed throughout both. Excellent work.
What an opening page, Megabus. Very excited for the rest.
Blimey, what a start to the calendar! Well done, Pete - excellent work on both counts! (And a billion extra points for naming me in a song! Woohoo! Fame at last! :P )
As for Megabus's opening page - got to say, that's mighty fine work. It wouldn't look out of place in the prog!

Bloomin' heck that came around first. Great fun best time of the year on the boards and a bonza (did anyone ever say that?) start to the whole sch-bang.
Top stuff Pete for once again sorting this and getting the ball rolling on such fine form.
My lawyer will be in touch Mr Wells. Seriously though, great stuff, even though I couldn't read the right 1/4 of the page last night on my phone (as you well know) but it made the night fly by, waiting to get home to see this magnificent tale in all its glory.
As for the song, bravo! You need to audition for X-Factor next year ;)
There's two crackers to open the advent calender with - well done Pete and Megabus
(Haven't heard the song yet, but I'm sure it's up to your usual standard!)
Great stuff
I posted on the original thread before I saw this one ..might be an idea to put a note in there that it's for entrants only, for occasional visitors like myself if commenting on there is an issue.

Don't mind me
Holy cack Megabus! I gotta agree (with Mike Carroll!) that your Dredd is indeed prog worthy!

Unfortunately, for you lot, it is!
Thanks for the nice comments guys (my strip got the Whittle seal of approval too, if you were wondering! Not quite so sure about Burdis though... :D)
I bloody love the board at this time of year!
Good stuff
I hope Stacey sues you, you pervert.
Fantastic. All three bits brightened a Baltic morning.
Where's the LIKE button?
Fantastic stuff. What a great way to start.
That strip is BRILLIANT Wellsy - your likenesses are uncanny!
Broughton I literally cannot wait to read this story - your colouring has gone stratospheric!
The "Mean Green Machine" is brilliant. Quite Steve Dillon-ish with the Judge head.
Is this a page-a-day thing?
And Pete's strip - could't read the right hand side, even on the laptop. Weird.
the song? Well, let's just say the animation was good... :D Filth Monger.
Oh that strip is all kinds of wonderful, Pete. Brilliant stuff!
Great stuff!
And I'll make sure and stray comments on that thread are ruthlessly deleted.
Awww lovely.
What a start to what is always the best thread of the year.
Great vid slug, Pete and spot on comic strip which made me guffaw.
Megabus that looks stunning. Look forward to next instalment.
Zarjaz start to the thread of the year. The bar has been set very high.
Laughed out loud at Pete's efforts and the ongoing daily comic is a great idea and the first page looks fantastic.
HURRAH!! Bravo Wellsy Beer!!
The reality even exceeded your slurred and delirious descriptions of it at Thoughtbubble.
Hur...Run away!!
Just read the strip properly - jings, that's braw! Loved it.
Megabus is doing a page a day...? Mentalist!
Nice effort Mr Wells sir. Has Stace seen that yet? She'll probably wee!
Oh, my. Christmas really is officially on it's way, isn't it?
Pete - A fantabulous kick-off, you crooner, you. Poor Oor Burdis. If he carries on like that, he'll become dirty Frank!
Megabus - Oh, that's just spoiling us, that is. And straight in with the action, too. Looking forward to my daily doses.
Already this/that thread has taken away the pain of my knackered hand and made me grin like a ******* ***.
Top stuff fellas, and page two of Megabus's strip cements it already as my second favourite place to read Dredd, after the weekly prog.
SBT
Oh my, this is indeed ace. Lovely stuff, Megabus.
I love this time of year. Couldn't think of 'owt myself this year, but I'm loving what we've got so far.
Pete - pure class x 2. Laughed my ass off.
Megabus - I'm really excited bout a daily serial strip! Page 2 is just up, and I'm hooked, it's great. The art does have a real Dillon feel , and that's no bad thang.
What a way to return to the board.
after a long hiatus, drokkin wonderful. :)
Oh dear! If I'd realised this was the standard expected I may have done something completely different!
My paltry effort is going up shortly. It may not look like much, but it has some meaning. Today is my 40th birthday, hence me choosing the 2nd on the advent calendar. I thought there couldn't be a better way to mark my 40th than do something I haven't since I was a teenager - draw Dredd!
So if you go over to the advent thread you will shortly see my first sketch of Dredd in nearly 25 years!
Being relatively new to the boards this is my first time for this annual festive occasion, and I must say it's a great idea and the posts are really cool. I thought Megabus' post WAS from the prog lol, great stuff. Thanks to all for organising this and creating stuff for it, I shall tune in each day for the festive thrills :)
Anyone else looking at these and thinking
"Shit... I might have to re-do mine now... damn bars been raised"
Awesome work gents. :)
It's why it's important to get in early - NO PRESSURE!
Beautiful Shaolin - love the helmet! Also, Broughton is ridiculous - I hope Tharg's watching...
Nice Dredd Shaolin. Love the chin.
Good start to the calender all- Happy 40th Dave. Two pages in and lookin good Megabus, wish we had a daily Oor Burdis strip too.
That's great, Shaolin and a very happy birthday too.
Really professional looking, Megabus. I love how you draw Dredd's face.
Megabus that is awesome!
I'm still chuckling now at Pete's strip, how many bairns have you got with Stace then - LOL! That could be a Viz strip...
My humble effort should be up by lunchtime tomorrow, just need to finish it off at work where I have the Wacom.
I just heard the song (over on ECBT). Loved it! The strips, too.
Wowzers, another stunning page from Mr Megabus (who's Dredd head reminds me of Carlos, how's that for a compliment?) and a beautiful sketch from Shoalin - happy birthday fella!
Happy Birthday, Mr Monkey! And here you are, sharing on that very day. (I would take my hat off to you but I'd have to put the heating back on.) Cool take on the chin.
The bar is far too high for mine but it will be there nont the less.
Struggling to do mine but will sort something for the fourth.
V
I put my bit of toilet to bed tonight so I can switch with anyone due before the 11th if it helps.
If your serious Stephen I could do with an extra day on mine, I'm due in tomorrow if you're up for it?
I'm always serious Larf :P
Yeah I'll take tomorrow (3rd) leaving you with my slot (11th) - cool beans?
Happy Birthday Shoalin, nice sketch. Especially little details like the chain.
Thanks to everyone for their nice comments. It makes the hard work and effort worth while.
Can't wait to see Buttonmans contribution.
BUttonman has set the bar pretty high with that one. No doubt that first pic will be making an appearance in TMO's own 'Wot I Ate on My Holidays' blog.
The insanity continues, as Buttonman unleashes his meeting with Tharg in the bowels of the BEAST upon the world! Glad to see old Green Bonce Pissed himself  (I know Pete and Rob said that my missus must be very understanding (I think that was the word they used), when they met her at Thought Bubble but I feel for your good lady having to do the photos for this)
As for megabus, keep this up my good man. Superb stuff
shaolin_monkey, nice chin and great linkage ;)
Wait no longer Megabus! Your fantasic entries will only benefit from being seen in tandem with my nonsense!
John, with a knowing and resigned sigh Irene welcomed our alien visitor with open arms.
Genius, Buttonman. Simple genius.
And proof you don't have to have any discernable talent in order to participate here.
Buttonman - Oh, delightful. Such a magnificent thrill to see the candid and all-too realistic meeting of two such icons. If you had a budget, sir, you'd be dangerous. :)
The scary part of your entry BM is that your wife took the pictures...
More cracking stuff!
As mentioned on the sign-up thread, my entry is due on the eighth but it's done now so if anyone needs an extra day and wants to swap, let me know.
-- Mike
I think the Dictators of Zarg have tricked Buttonman... surely "Tharg's" chin trangle is upside down? : D
Great work all round everybody! Happy Birthday Shaolin Monkey!
Top alien pish stain use there, most evocative.
Well done, Buttonman. I'm still unsure if that was insanity or genius, maybe even a bit of both.
Another top page, Megabus.
Great job Buttonman. It really made me laugh (I got some strange looks at work).
Another great page megabus. I like how the story is progressing.

Hoho, great stuff B.M. I miss the old photo stories (not really!) Mega bus....loving this. A page a day is insane. I salute you, sir. :D
Well what can i say, but sterling work by all.
And special mention to Buttonman's contribution, which is summat else indeed!
My god! I'd heard that the old Tharg mask was in bad condition but I didn't expect it to look quite as haggard and deformed as that! It certainly looks like it's been kicked around the nerve centre a few times.
I was howling at this, I absolutely loved it. What a complete and utter nutcase!
Watched 'Deathnuts' and read Buttonman's Photo story tonight, Loved em' both. Thanks fellas! Thanks to everyone for further positive comments on the Dredd daily strip.
I'm enjoying the fact that you are up each night at this time posting it, BRAVO!
Megabus, awesome work on the strip! Can't wait for part 5!
Vzzbux - inspired! My two fave things in the world (except for the new trilogy) combined into one neat image. Nice!
Vzzbx - The Bug had changed everything. Everything. Hershey was back in the big pads, Frank was a billionaire, Point was back in the good books and... in the squad room... as he left for patrol in his shattered city, he was sure he heard something new... There goes Old Taun-Taun Chops...
Smashing!
Darren Stephens - Oh, now that's just inspired. Yuletidium 90 mutations. Brilliant!
Megabus - Daily Daily Dose Dose! Daily Daily Dose Dose! The very, very cool fun continues in reading your fantastic gift to the forum.
Amazing today. Nice work, Darren.
Just had a catch up - brilliant work everyone, it's a highlight of the forum year!
M.

Thanks for the positive comments regarding Dredd MGM.
All brilliant, as usual.

Daveycandlish - There are some mornings you wake up and wonder what fresh turmoil and sorrow the day will bring... and when faced with this kind of chain-bustin' barmy, hey, WE'S DANCING! Big sodding yes to that man right there!

Yeah - loving that statue!
WTF! Nice one dave, but how did you find that statue?
That statue is a bit Stone Island. I'm glad Dirty Frank didn't go that far!
Love the statue. Great page megabus. Quality work all around.
Awesome contributions to the calendar today, David and Megabus. :-)
Playing catch up today, I did look each day but have only been able to grab a couple of minutes to post now.
Vzzbux - Inspired! Made me think of Tony Hart or Rolf Harris making their pictures out of bits n bobs in true 'Can you tell what it is yet?' style!
Darren Stephens - I wanna read that story!
Davey Candlish - Christmas crackers!
The Mighty Megabus - Fantastic lawmaster action, loving this!
Thanks to you all!
Daveycandlish - Always fantastic to see Frank in action.
Megabus - Great work, keep it up.
Really like Daveycandlish's picture of Dirty Frank. Such a strong no nonsense style of inking...sweet! Once again thanks for the positive comments on Dredd MGM.
Love the 'Christmas based Stronts', very festive :)
Catching up with comments.
Megabus – awesome. Enjoying this daily Dredd. A real treat.
shaolin_monkey – well if you're going to get back to drawing Dredd, that is the way to go about doing it. Nice.
Buttonman – just noticed the stain. Insanity of the highest order, if you don't mind me saying. Made me chuckle, anyway.
vzzbux – great work. Did you use all your Star Wars toys action figures to make that? Joke.
Darren Stephens – superb. Really like your style. Nice touch with the electronux.
Daveycandlish – great Dirty Frank beating up on ninja babies based on bizarro sculpture.

You spend ages waiting and then all of a sudden one big fuck off megabus turns up and blows you away!
Loving these daily episodes, they remind me of the type of stories and art you used to get in the old annuals from the 80's.

Agreed. It's going to be a bummer when it all ends on the 25th......hey,
Megabus. Don't suppose you can keep this going into January and beyond? :-P
Oooh imagine if Bolty put this out as like a special mini Zarjaz? That'd be AMAZING.
Broughton you're talent, commitment and face fills me full of joy.
Lovely hanging wotsits there also Albion, if only our tree looked so progtastic!
Nice baubles! Your Xmas tree decorations are nice too! ;)
Albion - Dang! Shaolin Monkey beat me to it there! :D But, seriously, Planet Replicas certainly missed a licence there. Besides which, you're a man with the sense not to put his tree right up against a raging radiator over Winter. An example to us all, Albion. (Well, me and the scarred idiot a few doors up from my brother anyway...)
Sterling Christmas efforts all.
The Advent calendar continues to be a daily treat.
Great Christmas tree decorations Albion. Hi Larf, spot on. It is the Xmas annual feeling I'm going for. Hi Darren, no daily Dredd strip for the new year but I do have lots of new small press projects for 2013...can't wait to get drawing.

Ha! Who's day did you take then? I did my contribution last night and If I'd known I'd have put it up today and filled the gap.

As for Mike's AMAZING 3D skills, all I can say is, I WANT a chocolate Dredd! Those bars really did make me laugh with 'Sneck', 'Munstrels' and 'Judge Decker' being my faves. Brilliant! Hmmm, what other 2000AD chocolate bars could we have? Chocolate Button Men?

That bloody Mike, every year he pretends to invent exciting things for me to buy. I hate you, you talented fecker! Seriously though Mike, superb stuff as usual. Really enjoyed all the names on the selection box.
Well done to everyone else. I would list and congratulate you all individually but I'm on my phone in Camden on a break.
So much great stuff on here! Those chocolates genuinely made me wish they were real. Inspired!
Mike, that's so good it made me hungry!
I'm off to see if I can make a shoulderpad out of Twix bars.
Mike Carroll - "Do you love anyone enough to give them your last Halo?" It's a tough one, it really is. Much like, where the hell is that Stuffing-My-Delighted-Face icon? Gifts from a better world!
Megabus - ....Good grud, man. If you keep amping it up like this, my thrill receptors are going to need replacing before I even get to the first page of Prog 2013 let alone the last page of yours...
Cheers Pete and Pops. I'll mark my date on my REAL calendar next time just to be sure. :D Another cracking page frome Mr Megabus. Lovely stuff. And Mikes choccys. Brilliant! Now off to open todays door on my Pixar advent calendar. I have a craving for something sweet.
Jovus drokk, you people are magnificent. Allow me to caress all your festive chops with my seasonal enthusiasm.
Awww. Now I want those sweets for under the tree. The Advent calendar does it again. Cheers.
That, Mike, THAT is cleverness - Harry Exton's Button Men! Megabus, the scale of your undertaking (and your punctuality) are both breathtaking. I always end up getting hacked off raking about for the advent thread itself, so here's a link for those as lazy as me:

Great work there Mike.
Get a 3D print of that Dredd and you could make a mould for chocolate...
Hey Sauchie, it's stickied in the 'General' area, ya plum!
Awesome stuff, both!

Great idea with the moc chocs, Mike.
I want that selection box in my stocking, great stuff Mike!
Coolest Xmas tree on the planet, Albion. Looks remarkably like my ancient Woolworths plastic tree which I am yet to assemble.
Megabus, you are a man on a mission. That is dedication to all things thrillpowered, if there ever was.
Mike, that cracked me up. To think, I was standing in the supermarket queue the other day looking at the foil wrapped chocolate Xmas Santas thinking: now there must be an idea in that somewhere for the advent calendar. Just noticed 'Judge' and 'Flesh' and the logo on the Halos. Genius.
Every single thing posted so far has been absolutely fantastic. Dont get much time to check in here these days but at Advent Calendar time of year its a must to get on at least once a day!
Todays entry by Mike is fantastic - who the hell wouldnt want that selection box?!?! All those bars/sweets should be rebranded exactly like that right NOW. Damn I want a Scrotnig. :)

Lol at the Beano style Joey Dredd :D
Redbaz, that is brilliant - the colouring, the old paper, the rhyming tag line, even the slightly visible printing on the other side of the page.
I was working on something similar but could never match up to that! (First pic below.) I really need to team up with an artist next year!
Great work again megabus. Joey Dredd needs to be a feature in the prog! Are you listening Tharg?
Ha, ha! If Tharg is listening, it can easily be arranged...
Baz's art made it - I had no idea how good he is when I got involved - but I'm proud to have provided the script for Joey Dredd. It's the first time I've ever written a comic strip. I reckon we ought to do some more.
- Trout
That perfectly recreated the feel of reading those old annuals, Redbaz. I could have turned the page to find a text story about a shepherd and his loyal dog catching smugglers or a flyleaf with caricatures of Gary Glitter, Jimmy Savile and Johnathan King with oversize heads.
Thanks for the kind words everyone, glad you liked it. Kudos need to go to Trout- his script was spot on first draft.
Brilliant stuff Redbaz and Trout.
This yearly thread is fast becoming the ONLY thing I like about Christmas. Sterling work everyone- all have made me either laugh or gasp or grin. Some all at once. And regarding Megabus and Redbaz/Trouty's ones- this surely is all the ammunition we need to ask some kind small press publisher out there to this year collect the entirety of this thread into a nice little printed A4 magazine form and sell in aid of some charity? I would buy several.

There aren't enough words to describe howmuch i enjoyed Joey Dredd, I've looked at it dozens of times now and it still makes me smile!
And Megabus keeps on delivering in spades - what are those pesky aliens up to?
RedTrout Team-Up - Laugh? I nearly Squaxx! Well conceived, well delivered and... oh, crikey, yes... well received fun. Nice one!
Megabus - The gift that keeps on giving! I'm Lovin' It. And while I've now run out of borrowed slogans, the Mighty MGM Marathon continues... Yes. What are those pesky droids up to?
Joey Dredd is brilliant!

Fox; your Tharg looks like permanently crabbit Scottish thesp David Hayman (https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=david%20hayman&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=Cz3GUKKXLOOr0AWF7IGgDA&biw=938&bih=492&sei=ET3GUNDcBo210QW61IHoDQ).
redbaz/Mike – good to see Joey Dredd finally get his comeuppance, the rotter. I was beaming as I read that. Superb.
megabus – you continue to spoil us. Top notch. What did we do to deserve it? Talk about dedication. And where do you find the time?!
CrazyFoxMachine – quality stuff. Brilliant.
Fox's Tharg reminds me of Iron Maiden's Adrian Smith.
But lordy, ALL great stuff! Really enjoying these.
And will somebody tell IDW to give Megabus a crack at Dredd.
Ah, the mighty Fox! Great stuff my man!
Owen, your Tharg picture is great! I love the colouring (especially on Thargs face) and the time and attention that have gone into the costume have all added to create an awsome 2000ad advent picture. Thanks for the continued kind comments regarding Dredd MGM. I appreciate it.
Just after Midnight like clockwork megabus lol. Very much enjoying your strip :)
Sorry for double post, but just had to say that Larf's spoof cover is somewhat excellent and very funny :)

Oh my..
Just caught this. That i-amthelaw-pad is incredible. Lovely detail!
Ho-ho-holy shit Larf! I dunno whether to laugh or cry!
Amazing work there...
In a field replete with genius, Prog O-O-O is probably the cleverest pun I've seen yet.
Larf? I nearly shat!
Great stuff all round, and a good Thargy Claus from Foxworthy!
I can see CF is going to be harrassing ASDA staff for this one:
Properly amazing detail on that one Larf, I was looking at it for HOURS. Stunning composition!
Cheers for all the kind words everyone, hopefully I'll have the time to do a properly massive one next year :P
CFM - awesome take on Tharg, love it!
Megabus - Loving the script on your Dredd epic. We're getting to the good (ie even better than it has been already!!!) stuff I feel.
LARF - Love it!!! I saw it on iPhone browser initially, and couldn't quite make out what was going on, but having just looked at it on my work internet I can see all the detail. Love the breakdown of sentencing! Excellent!
Terrific stuff, fellas. Each Megabus page gets better n better. Annual-tastic!
This calendar just showcases how much talent this board has. Well done all.
Redbaz- Loved that.
A great Prologue too Larf
A wonderful depiction,
Now I'm thinking in rhyme,
After reading your fiction :)
Thanks for the kind comments folks, this was more an experiment for me in trying to tie in my day job to my passion. There are a few hidden boarders in there mostly in the graffiti, I'm wondering whether folks have found them, also there is: a building name that's a scrabbled swell guy and the face of a well known 2000AD collector, quite hidden but on reflection can be found.
I had great fun doing this and adding in the detail. I don't often get the chance to enter the comps these days due to burning the candle at both ends at home and work but I'm pleased that the effort I put in here seems to have paid off with all your kind comments.
Merry Christmas everyone!
Mike
Fantastic Larf! And Buttonman on top of the pile too - again!
Only now had a chance to get a proper, up close look at Larfs pic. Superb details. Love the dead Santa figure!
Now I can comment on all the ones I haven't so far!
Darren Stephens Christmas Based Stronts Very clever stuff and I especially like the lighting of the cigar!
Daveycandlish Dancing Time I saw the statue on Facebook and this is equally as insane, top notch stuff!
Albion Christmas Tree Very festive and I love the noses. I think this is the reason Dredd isn't smiling ;)
redbaz Joey Dredd Simply superb :D
CrazyFoxMachine Grumpy Festive Tharg I said it on Facebook but it looks nothing like Buttonman ;)
LARF Bah, Humbug! So much detail. I want that ap for my Sam's iPad NOW!
megabus MGM I now use you as my Midnight clock, keep it up ;)

Ha! I can't believe I missed my block! I was looking to see if I'd made the grafitti and was crestfallen when I hadn't. Hooooray! Thanks a bazillion Larf!
Thanks once again for the positive comments regarding Dredd MGM.
LARF that is one skillfully created montage. From the nice use of Typography and lighting to the amazing thought and effort put into the 'Lawpad' touch screen design. Then you've capped the whole thing off with lots of extra hidden gags and a festive Dredd poem. I really enjoyed it all!
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!
Seeing as there is no way to compete with LARFs work, I just need to complete a time machine before 24th December so I can post my stuff before his. No hang on, redbaz posted before him, didn't he? So if I post it just before that, I'll... No, hang on. Mike posted those chocolates. And megabus has been posting every day.
Sneck.
Computer, set the time machine for sometime back in July!
Another great page megabus. Just great.
I keep reading Joey Dredd over and over. I want more of this.
Truly great work, one and all!
Definitely an end of year highlight.
Hate to be the person up against such greatness tomorrow.
Wait...shit *starts drawing*
CFM - Great work and quite festive
LARF - Incredible, love the amount of detail in it.
megabus - Continue the great work.
I've just re-read the first post. Are we all doing something for the 24th too?!? I'd better start scribbling!

Ooh Dunk that is an awesome pic, lovely colours and composition!
Another great day for the Advent Calendar. Well done all.
I always look forward to Dunk's work and this is no disappointment, brilliance!
Excellent Dunk!
Wow! Dunk that is a brilliant picture, great inking style and colouring, bags of detail and all wrapped up with a festive theme.
Simontm. I bought Harry 20 on the high rock recently to wallow in nostalgia and enjoy once again the artwork of Alan Davis and storytelling of Gerry Finley Day. Love the sketches you posted.
Nearly missed those Alan Davis sketches - wow!

Cheers for all the positive feedback, guys.
It makes it all the more worth it.
Truly a great year.
Dunk!
WOOO-EEEEE!! That is the poodle's plums Dunk!
And Mr.Megabus, you've got to release this as a small press one shot sir. It's superb!
Holy Drokk! :-[
Tis been super submissions all round.
Hi all, great stuff being done on the Advent Calender. Didn't want to derail it by adding another of mine but thought you may like this...
Ha! Thats great redbaz, made me laugh.
That's a great sketch - made me giggle in work. Nice one!
Trout - nice little short story. You filled my head with all sorts of weird partying shenanigans!
Great sketch redbaz. Thanks for the chortle.
Nice story trout.
Great page megabus. Boffins mess up again.
Trout The Magic Man - Such deft strokes of Christmas magic, but is it true that you don't do this often? A pity if so, because that was an utterly charming mix of that peculiar bittersweetness and wistfulness that such stories deserve. Thanks for a lovely, lovely read.
Megabus - I'm making you a little KTT in my heart, you lovely nonstop wonder, you.
CrazyFoxMachine - I keep thinking, poor sod Tharg, he's looking at the riotous mess the creator droids made at their Christmas do while he was getting changed and Mek-Quake's on holiday. Great stuff!
Larf - Oh, dear Grud, that's addictive. So much fun to just simply enjoy roving my eye over, spotting all those superb details and absolutely loving each one that's there to be found in a whole that's become a regular pleasure to scroll past. Basically, that's just stupefyingly superb.
Dunk! - I really like the way the Lawmaster's just a flamy, forgotten plummety impact in the making while the real action continues. No way does that robot meet city code, you spittleface squidy-bearded Santa creep, too right Dredd's gonna getcha!
Simontm - Unexpected extra treatiness? Hell, yeah!
Redbaz - You got another chortle right here. And then another one when I clocked the tooth on Death.
Thanks, lads. :-)
Yep, brilliant Mike, I loved it. A wonderfully festive, heart-warming tale beautifully told.
I love this calendar!
Trout, thanks for a great short story I really enjoyed it.
Thanks once again for the positive comments regarding Dredd MGM over the last few days.
I haven't commented for a while 'cos I didn't just want to say"that was awesome" again and again, but every day has been a treat.
For the second year running Mike Carroll has given us a glimpse of A Thrillpowered Christmas That Could Have Been; Joey Dredd made me properly guffaw (does anyone guffaw any more?), Larf, Dunk, Owen everyone - you're fantastic. Trouty's story made me fill up at the end.
And special mention to megabus for his old-skool, rollicking daily Dredd adventure. So much work has gone into this and I'm loving it. And he got Stacey and Iz into it - yay!
You arty girls'n'boys are magic, and I love every glistening work-sodden eyeful, but Trouty gave us something very special there. Wasted on teaching hacks punctuation, that one.
It's getting difficult to find superlatives for this thread. It's all been simply wow.
Neil, I love both pictures. The detail in Block War Santa is awesome!
Shaoline monkey, your kids drawings ROCK! :)

They don't fucking listen, you know. :)
Thanks for the encouragement, Tordel and others. I reckon I'll do a bit more of that sort of thing in the future. I enjoyed it. (Also, it was a welcome break from the drains that had backed up that day. I had about two paragraphs to go when I had to break off to dry out and disinfect the entire kitchen, including washing every dish I own. Sorry - wrong thread.)
I'm loving all the posts this year. Isn't it great that we still have more than a week to go?
Shaolin Monkey, your kids draw Dredd better than I can!
Yeah Monkey man - no pros until X-mas eve!
Hah! Shaolin monkeys kids have put us all to shame! I look forward to Alski's entries every year and this year he didn't disappoint. I laughed my head off at Little drummer Dredd. Brilliant!
PARENTAL WARNING!
TONE LOWERED BY WHITBLOKE SHOCKER! 2000AD Fan Forum Advent Calendar stained by presence of filthy cusswords, claims Mary Whitehouse Block spokesperson.
"Oh, snut," cringed filthmonger WhitBloke when confronted by an angry mob of parental types demanding who will think of the children. "What have I done?!?"
Full story inside!
Basically, my contribution tomorrow contains some instances of language wholly unsuitable for young children. Those of you sharing the daily fun of this wonderful Advent Calendar with your juves, please be advised that skipping past to get Megabus' next gripping instalment of MGM shall probably be for the best.
While the pictures themselves were drawn with no intentionally 'mature' element to them the dialogue in places shall rather insist that the eyes of your
collective spawn kiddiwinkles of reading age be kept from it. This said, I doubt the nature of my forthcoming contribution contains anything members of this forum themselves will find offensive. (Daft, yes, but not offensive.)
Please check my contribution for its suitability (and need for some on-scene editing of dialogue by yourself) prior to reading to any children who don't yet read themselves.
I shall also be posting a similar warning on the thread itself prior to posting my contribution. I post it here to be doubly assured that all such parents here are suitably warned prior to what could have been a rather upsetting incident. Not as embarrassing as when they found your Razzles or that old videotape of Durham Red Does Dallas but needlessly upsetting all the same!
PARENTAL WARNING!
Double-Post but it's got to be said...
Alski the Dark King of Croon - Convoooooy!!!
A thousand screaming lugs!
Perfect cover, Alski! And Drummer Boy Dredd... Scrotnig stuff. Packed with dark crooning chuckles, but the rhyme with the
Wally Squad
really got me. Going to go and enjoy it again right now. :D
Just catching back up with all the advent fun and it looks like Santa is being judged all over the calendar. Brilliant pics by Shaolin's juves there, nice to see the little ones enjoying tooth as much as everyone else though I'm a tad perplexed as to WhitBloke's promised shenanigans tomorrow :-\
Lovely story by the Troutmeister, you should do more Mike!
and Megabus continues to be a consistent treat, with lots of additional little gems dropping in all over the place - Redbaz's Anderson is great!
Quote from: LARF on 16 December, 2012, 11:46:59 AM
I'm a tad perplexed as to WhitBloke's promised shenanigans tomorrow :-\
Oh, nuts. I feel I have perhaps perplexed you unduly, Larf (and others, I've no doubt) with my warning above. To be plain, the strip is by no means peppered with expletives of a sexual nature. There are no f-words or c-words present at all, in case that is now a concern.
It's really more a case of things like "Terran bitch" and "You're damn right!" and things like that in almost all cases I was concerned about in the dialogue. It's certainly not Derek & Clive stuff but, even this being said and true, I would be remiss had I not now and did not later make some sort of 'Read First Being Showing To Your Kids' mention.
With the above post, I have opted to err on the side of what could be said to be 'deliberate overstatement' just to be sure. I just wanted to be sure that nobody automatically allowed their kids to read it without checking it because it does to some extent have a more adult tone than other contributions - though not of a level which exceeds that which the Prog itself regularly features.
Great stuff all around again. shaolin is raising his children right. They will have a bright future slaving in the mines of Tharg's offices.
Well, I'm absolutely speechless. Just caught up on the latest posts... Wow! I think it would be unfair of me to single anyone out as all of the entries are jaw dropping brilliant. Honestly, I'm blown away. The best calender yet. Well done to all :D
I've produced a doodle for the calender, if any one is willing to share a date, that would be great. If not, I'm happy to wait until the 24th.
Well done again. Simply superb!
Listened to your festive songs and loved them both, thanks Alski. I love the look of your comic strip Whitbloke. Got to get some sleep now so I'll read it tomorrow.
That's very kind of you, Megabus. Just enjoyed your latest - struck by the plot-point of machinery being fallible. Nice touch in a genre that too often forgets this.
Thanks very much for playing along with the strip-split retro-thing and sorry if I made you panic. Panicked a bit myself when the computer went a touch blinky on me!
Bloody hell this keeps getting out from under me, really wonderful entries - I love the creative christmas outpouring on the forum!
Blimey Whitbloke, how many pages?!
Also - Broughton, I'd totally buy that. Totally. Print a limited run, I'd buy one!
Three in a row dealing with haulage there, seguetastic!
So hang on, let's get this straight: we're actually getting a proper 2000AD Annual this year, complete with one of those floppy flexidisk 45s? Because it certainly seems like just it, a proper long colour Dredd annual story, seasonal crossover strips, text pieces, posters... all that's missing is reams of reprint. If you put this little lot under hard covers it'd easily top some years' professional efforts - and a full week to go!
WhitBloke's Gray Area strip was extraordinarily clever, and brilliantly drawn - I confess to a significant moistness of the eye seeing Ace & Co and the Moonrunners again in such a perfect homage to the Great Man. I bet Abnett'll be kicking himself that he missed out on pitching that one. I also can't believe I never made the link between Torquemada's helmet and Ace Garp's head before, absolute genius.
Alski's folk-rock-pop-punk-balladeering made me howl with laughter as always, and I'll be humming along merrily as I do a Crimbo shopping run this morning.
Also, Shaolin, having seen your yungwans' entry I was berating my indolent kids for their lack of artistic ambition, and in response was treated to a lovely Spitfire/ME109 dogfight by my eldest that restored my faith in today's youth - many thanks for the inspiration!
WhitBloke, that was bananas! Loved all the crossovers but particularly the cameo from yourself, the "wretch on a sketch". Looney and brilliant!
Huzzah to you Whitbloke. I love Gray Area and that was a great strip. That was a lot of work and it shows. And another great page from megabus. I'm only sorry that this thread will end eventually.
"...Judge Dredd fired, par-rumpapparumpapaprum-pum..."
Firmly stuck in my head now, you git!
WhitBloke you're the Ferrero Rocher of strips... Monsieur you spoil us with your hilarious, detailed and fan-friendly stories!
Plus bonus Judge Death from Simon™ tres bean, thank grud I've been gud!
Dunk! - Awesome work, fantastically detailed.
simontm - They are great, thanks for sharing.
Trout - Great work.
Archie - Fantastic.
shaolin_monkey's kids - Fantastic and really put a smile on my face.
Alski - I always look forward to your songs. I really liked Little Drummer Dredd
WhitBloke - Fantastic and insane in equal measures.
simontm - Fantastic.
I'll admit it. I just wanted to see the Dictators of Zrag getting punked down again and the rest just sort of sprawled out from there.
Thanks very much indeed for your kind comments, gents. I'm positively bloated with praise. Monday is usually Misanthropy Day here in the WhitCave but you've all gone and ruined that for me with your reception of Second Class Santa. You rotters!
Seriously, though, I'm chuffed to bits that the strip has hit the mark in the loony bananas crossover retro homage sort of way I was aiming for. Not sure the pointy hat gag exactly qualifies as 'genius,' TordelPenge, but... hey... it would be downright rude to argue with praise like that so I guess I'll take it! (Thanks!)
Very, very glad that you liked it, gents. Thanks again, Megabus, for kindly playing along and thanks also to Lee Carter for giving me his nod of approval.
Seven more days of this jigsaw juggernaut of festive thrills. What can I say but... Roll on tomorrow!
*Waddles off singing, some shooting and a chase... parupapumpum...*
Hi Whitbloke, your comic strip was way out there...loved it! Likewise the Judge Death santa piccy by simontm, very festdeath!
Brilliant stuff everyone! The Dredd Drummer Boy was excellent. Breaking the fourth wall in your strip was so funny Whitbloke. Very funny Death simontm!
Thanks for the comments re my kids pics. They are all really chuffed you enjoyed them. I have to say, I was seriously impressed with Freya's Dredd. I know I'm biased, but still - seven yrs old FFS! Maybe we'll see her work in 2000AD in a couple of decades!
Yet another great page from megabus.
I promise I've been good simontm. Sooo good.
Pleased to see Santa isn't being killed off as much as last year. In fact, if this gets a small press publication the cover strapline should read "50% less Santa murders".
(Okay grammarians, I know that should be 'fewer' not 'less'.)

Amazing work, guys.
Jon/Enigmatic Dr X - And now we surely all know why we eventually 'let slip' that Santa isn't real. Better the children come to believe that he doesn't exist than know the full scope of such tyrannical evil. :-X :D That's a corker of a sweet-and-sour strip, guys. Punchy, gritty and funny all at once. (All man, indeed!) Or to put it another way, Santa clearly deserves all the stabbings, shootings and block war comeuppances we can muster! :)
Wow!
Very good work today Dr X and Jon. Lovely!
you may you have wondered what happened to my entry...sadly I kinda suffered several computer deaths and couldn't get it done...
sorry
Brilliant work Jon and Doc X!
Dobby gets cuckolded by a man who is quite literally a dickhead. Hur.
:)
Thanks.
There was a "happy ending" counterpart to go with this but, you know...
Jon get thee to a thargery!
This is brilliant you two :D
Lovely art from both Jon and Simon, plus Whitbloke's warped mind is a delight for Scrots.
Brilliant stuff Jon and Dr. X!
Things are starting to hot up for Dredd merrily megabus. I look forward to the rest of the story.

Not a problem matey! Let's hope it's up and running again for the free for all on Christmas Eve!
Thanks for the positive comments over the last few days regarding Dredd MGM.
Derek and Jon, thanks for posting such a great comic strip. I really enjoyed reading it.
GLB - great idea! It reminds me of when I used to do Www.bookcrossing.com - chuck a book into the wild with a code number attached and watch it travel the world. One of mine got as far as Canada! I use the library now though.
working on it right now...its not looking likely and trying to get something else done instead
Oooh. How will Dredd solve this little problem? I love the daily cliffhangers megabus. Keep 'em coming.
I admire your generosity Gavin. I wonder if anyone here has received your gift and now resides on these boards?
Hi Gavin. That was a really cool thing to do.
Blackmocco - Most Pure, indeed. :) What a thing to wake up to! Brrrr....
Gavin Leahy Block Christmas Cheer Subcommittee - Nothing short of perfect for Christmas. The ultimate Secret Santa. Hope those pesky Pete Wells Blockers don't nick it!
Megabus - Thrill capacitors exceeding design specifications! I'm running out of spare fuses as you continue to ramp things up for the climax. Mercilessly fabulous!
Monarch - Looking forward to what you're now brewing up for the 24th. Must've been frustrating. :(
Continued pleasure, too, from revisiting all the contributions. If Christmas can't be delayed so we can have more now... :'( ...at least there's next year to look forward to! :D (Oh, and Christmas itself, I guess. Details, details...)
Santa Torque scares me. :)
I knew the world wouldn't end today, this calendar is too much fun.
Absolutely loving you guys' work. Fantastic.
And an apology, just found the baggsie thread :-[
Sorry for jumping in.
Great work anyway
Bryan Coyle / Lee Robson - ...oh, that's good. That's damn good! Zarjaz, in fact.

Woah, did someone just find an unprinted Grover/Ezquerra story intended for the 1983 Judge Dredd Annual? That is unbelievably good from Robson and Coyle, cheers yer Boltship.
Also, Megabus and Whitbloke - when do you insanely talented people sleep?
Was that planned or just a Shakotastic coincidence? Brilliant
Are you guys cool if I dived in with something extra? I got inspired by all your efforts so far, and put a little something together. I was going to save it until the 24th, but unfortunately I probably won't be able to post it then. I think that day is going to go 'work-beer-bed'.
..oh, and those Shako stories were bloody brilliant!
The Shako gubbins was pure coincidence. There must be something in the ice water. I was going to post it on the 24th for a laff but I just couldn't resist when I saw that Robson/Coyle strip. Bloody fabulous that it is!
Wow! Loads going on today. Really nice Xmas Torquemada Blackmocco.
Loved reading the Dredd comic strip by Lee Robson and Bryan Coyle.
Another crazy and brilliant strip form Whitbloke.
Shaolin, I don't think anyone will mind if you post something extra.
Righto then! :D
Shaolin Monkey - Plush! And so very 'Big Meg,' too. Made like a Simp and red-nosed it out of there. Top drawer stuff and a gritty but feel-good read that seems to have set me up for the day. Cheers!
good news I finished a replacement!

I will have a Beary Christmas now. :)
I dunno why I typed christmas day of course its on eve
That Button Man is smashing - the artwork and tone is spot on.
The Dad part of me is all worried about what kind of Christmas that little girl is going to wake up to, though.
Shaolin, great xmas story. I'm going to read it again later.
Loved the festive piccy from Bhuna and Dirk.
Great Buttonman page from Conor and Lizzie Boyle.
That Button Man page is great - prog worthy!
Looking forward to the finale of Megabus' story - been great!
Everyone else - kudos
What a great day for the calendar. Simply great everyone.
Love that wee film, CF! But what was in the bix? Was it Marsellus Wallace's soul? ;)
Enigmatic Dr X & Jon - Darkly brilliant.
Blackmocco - Great work.
Bolt, Lee Robson and Bryan Coyle - Really enjoyed that.
WhitBloke - Horrific, I loved it.
shaolin_monkey - Fantastic work.
Bhuna - Fantastic and great likeness.
Uncle Fester and Lady Festina - That was awesome.

I didn't realise KTTs came in such big boxes, CF!
What a stunning few days for the calendar, thank you to all for the festive goodies!
It's been a few days since I've gushed and I won't leave anyone out so:
Every day - Megabus: This strip has been epic and scale and delivery. I don't want it to end!
17th - Whitbloke: Grey Area vs. the rest of 2000AD, sheer brilliance! I was giggling throughout!
17th - Simontm: Yikes! Very scary!
19th - Jon and Dr X: Prog-worthy material there. I loved some of the details in that big splash picture, particularly the Space Spinner, lawgiver and badge.
20th - Leahy Block - I know Gavin is going to do this every year and it STILL gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling. Just wonderful!
21st - Blackmocco - Torque Claus is naaasty!
21st - The Robson and Coyle Droids: Holy shit! That was Ezquerra-tastic!
21st - Whitbloke (again!): Another cracker. Poor Santa always gets a kicking on the board!
22nd - Shaolin Monkey: A brilliantly written tale, very uplifting! That last line was a classic!
22nd - Bhuna: Disgraceful! I like it!
22nd - The Festive Festers: WOW!!! The could have been Wagner and Ranson, it was amazing. I think I've read it about 10 times now!
23rd - Flip-r-mk2: Nekkie Dirty Frank angels made my heart soar.
23rd - Green and Burdis: Oh my life! That was AMAZING!!! Favourite parts had to be long, lingering shots of Burdis polishing his helmet and the gratuitous crotch shot - that's everything that's wrong with Christmas-based, advent fan films today! I also wondered if my (not YOURS Burdis!) KTT was in the box. Steve and J-Bizzle, I doff my cloth northern cloth cap to you, there's raising the bar and there's gruddamn raising the bar!!!
Roll on tomorrow - I'm up to NINE sketches from the Pro's and I promise, some of 'em will knock your socks off!
It's the 24th here in Oz so I've posted my lot. I had a lot of fun doing them, so I hope no one minds me mail-bombing the forum again this year. I'll just add all the unused ideas to the list for next year!
I'm really looking forward to seeing what else is lined up for us today. This is a GREAT forum! Thank you everyone, and a big thanks to Rebellion for the love they show in keeping 2000AD going at such a high standard, and for giving us this space to play in too.
Flip-R ,K2, your Dirty Frank snow angel made me chuckle as did Dash Decent's gags.
John and Steve, loved you short Vid it was just....Genius!
Vzzbux, that Dredd design on the snowflake is brilliant! I love his grumpy mouth and how you got the helmet badge in there.
I love that Starborn Turkey - but his name badge should read "Bean"!
We really need someone with real talent to do us a Dredd snowflake template. There are some brilliant Star Wars ones out there.

Awesome stuff today. Christmas-tacular! :D
Wow, wow, wow!
So many amazing things but I reckon that Wilsher cover is my highlight. Thanks for everyone for taking part!

Not had time to post much on here recently, but just wanted to say "thanks" for all the efforts on the Advent thread, and "thanks" to everyone here for your magnificent and awe-inspiring company during what has been a great year for all 2000 AD and Dredd fans.
Have a Zarjaz Christmas one and all!
A veritable Thrill Power Overload!
My fave is the Jack Kirby mock up.
Just caught up with the last week or so calendar entries. Superb stuff! Thanks to all for sharing and I'd like to wish everyone a Merry drokkin' Christmas and best wishes for the new year :)
I am agog with the brilliance of the work showing up. It is a Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas everyone! Fantastic work.
Congratulations to everyone who posted. I can't stop laughing at that Dash Decent gag about Carmen Tuhten A.K.A. "2-Town"
Thanks to everyone for such a ZARJAZ advent calender. Wishing you all a MERRY DROKKING CHRISTMAS AND A SCROTNIG NEW YEAR!!
Cheers,
Kerrin.
Wow! The Advent calendar today was just awesome. Happy Christmas everyone.
Incredible stuff, just incredible :D.
Everything and everyone has been ridiculously cool, but to Megabus in particular: it is a testament to your story that I have taken a minute out of my traditional 1am-Christmas-Morning toymaking panic (feck's sake how can paint take this long to dry! ::)) to check in for the final part. And it was well worth it - thanks so much for a daily treat that I'm going to miss. Now get to work on the sequel - 2 pages a day next year, nothing less.
Another Christmas cracker for this years Advent calendar, well done all those who took part in it.

Well done everyone. Fantastic work.
I didn't have a chance to comment on each and every one as I do every year. But I will say: Darren – that is amazing. And Megabus - outrageously good stuff. I am humbled that I finally get a block. Not worthy.
After many hours, I abandoned ship with mine. Would've taken too long to finish so I knocked out a quick doodle. At least I have a head start for next year. Can I book 1 Dec 2013?
This was a fantastic calendar. Well done to all and thank you for all your excellent work.
Happy Christmas.
Well done and many thanks to all contributors - and to Pete for organising as always.
Thanks to all for their wonderful contributions making this another memorable year.
Merry Christmas to everyone.
Stew.
Thread of the year. Well done everyone. I enjoyed them all.
Wow what a great way to celebrate Grudmas. Congrats and thanks to all those contributors, fabulous stuff.
Well done everyone, a great end to the anniversary year.
Absolutely unbelievable quality this year. And one in the face for anyone who thinks those who hang about here are a bunch of moaning talentless shitrags with delusions of entitlement.
From Megabus's superb comic (how many of us can lay claim to a massive undertaking like that) to Burdis and Green's funny littke video by way of obscene cartoons and songs and everything else, it's been an absolute pleasure.

Genius stuff to help me forget what a crap year 2012 is.
Well I saved my look at the advent calendar to last when I finally got a chance to catch up with my favourite place on the web and it was well worth the weight. Massive well done to all concerned, such effort has gone into it (second year on the bounce I've passed, last year I had a good excuse, this year I'm just rubbish, hopefully no excuses next) and while its silly to pick out anyone in particular you have to marvel at the time Megabus must have put in.
As ever a BIG BIG BIG thank you to the mighty Wells from which we all drink for organising once again.
Brilliant stuff, everyone. Thoroughly enjoyed it this year and am warmly reminded why this is the best message board on the web.
Aye terrific stuff as always. Makes December fly by, especially those long days at work. I usually save the advent calendar until lunch break. January will drag now, though.... :-)
Couldn't find the time to take part this year which bothers me, but totally enjoyed each and every submission. Special mention to megabus - that was a monumental effort!
And thanks to Pete for organising it
Merry Christmas

Thanks Colin and others! I was busy as f**k this year so left it quite late to contact the pros. The fact that more than a dozen found time to give us something was absolutely fantastic.
A brilliant year this year, it'd be wrong to single people out but we've all got to take our hats off to Megabus, lets hope he's got his thinking cap on for next year... Over 4000 views this year, not too shabby!
Remember to vote for your favourite covers before January 4th!
I had a good look through last night and they are great!, Well done all and you too Pete!
Amazing thread. Well done everyone. Merry Christmas to you all.

Indeed. Just fantastic stuff - ranging from the laugh out loud funny to the simply incredible. A big well done to ALL involved. You talented buggers!
