So, heres the story, you start on a relationship with someone and after broaching the comics subject and telling your other half that, at 38 years old, you still love comics and particulary 2000AD, what stories do you recommend (because of course you wish to convert her to the Galaxys Greatest) as an introduction?

I have had very good luck as Mrs Judgerufian is a avid reader and has so far read all of Bad Company, DR & Quinch and various progs (and accompanied me to ka-pow this year)but curious to see what you all suggest?

Also posting great thumbs up for advance wars 1&2, theres simply so much to do in the campaigns and then the unlockable maps, dual strike is good but dont go for the terrible latest instalment, it squeezed all the fun out of war....

Saw some clips at Kapow last month and it was very good and once you have conquered your 'yoof aloofness' theres a decent and funny movie underneath.

going back to the original question before all the chip talk started...
It may not be too retro but my mates and I only get together to play 1 videogame, Micro Machines 3 on PS1 and its still the best. No other next gen console game multiplayer can touch it....

Had an annoying glitch come up where my access to the Strip disappeared (after visiting Caesar in The Fort).
I couldnt talk to the sentrybot in charge (the talk command defaulted to "Move along"), the monorail was busted due to the Legion sabotage (and hadnt been repaired not matter what the NPC's said) and I had used the Kings favour to get him to talk to pacer rather getting the counterfeit passport. The only option was to blast all the sentrybots and get the Strip key from their remains (strip infamy went down but was restored by completing Talent pool)
Very very frustrating!!

OH for fuck sake, here other article from moaner reviewer Tookey!

with headline;

How cynical directors and weak censors mean our children now go to films that would have been X-rated ten years ago

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1373437/Sucker-Punch-Our-children-films-X-rated-years-ago.html

A truly awful article, how can stabbings and impaling be pornographic (careful now!) in his description of Wolverine. I bet he doesnt even let his kids watch Tom & Jerry for the 'racist, bestiality mindless violence displayed by a coked up feline against a mouse'.

Film & TV / Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series

As a fan of the comic, I'm enjoying the deviation from the main storylines from a what will they actually use in the series (considering the 70+ issues to rip story lines from) and it adds a sense of mystery as to are they characters safe, something which is a constant question in the comic.
Also I'm really enjoying the way the TV show is not going for silly horror movie staples such as the quick scare with loud screechy music, it makes it so much more of a watchable show and adds a sense of dread. Notable examples have been
the hands crawling at the hospital doors when Rick woke up and his trip down the fire exit stairs in the dark.
Good to see that Michael Rooker as
white trash nutcase
hasnt been typecast....ha ha.

I'd hazard a guess at a month in the hospital for Rick before he woke up. Nice to see Lori moving on so fast.....

Very interesting, thats alot of talent in the basement at Gosh, the iron circular staircase will be groaning under the weight of 2000ad fans! May pop along though Free Comic Day has always been a bit of a let down in the past (at least at Comicana, sorry Alex!!)

The bit where the crotch eagle bites that guy is going to be really good almost as good as when Van Damme punched that cobra in the face in Hard Target.

Thats one of my favourite bits from Hard Target....

A godsend as I was thinking about finally painting my dark judges minatures after owning them for a year, think i'll stick to the green skin, black uniform and off colour yellow/umber for the pads.

How embarassing.  And for a first post too.  Yeesh.

Thanks for your help Lee.

Hey, no worries! Welcome to the board. Glad I could help.

If you see The Complete Nemesis the Warlock volume 3 you can let me know and return the favour.

Nemesis Vol 3 was a bugbear for me too as I spent over 6 months looking for it, finally found it last month in Daves Comics, Brighton. I asked the 2000AD thrill merchants at ka-pow why it had been so difficult to find and they said it was a smaller print run than normal BUT it was just about to be re-printed so you should see it back on sale soon.

Great! Cheers for the heads up. I've never actually read the last couple of Nemesis books so I've been waiting years to find out how it ends.

In that case I wont spoil it for you but the lasy book is drawn by Henry Flint and a guest artist does the very last episode. The writing does seem to suffer from Mills fatigue, you could tell he wanted to finish it and move on, pity he doesnt do the same with Slaine where hes been reinterating the same script for at least the last 5 years.....sigh.
