Great! Bought one. I had misread the shop site and thought it was unavailable. Thanks Indigo!

I went to pick up my back-log from the newsagents today and was told  prog 2146 was replaced with a note saying 'did not print'. Does anyone know if this was a broader problem? I'm a bit miffed as have them all since I started in the 300s and physical copies are sold out. Ta.

How very very sad. It feels like his work has been part of my life, growing up with Dredd. All thoughts with those close to him and thank you Carlos.

It's obviously very important what I think and this is what it is; tell the story to its conclusion no matter what it is, don't plan for sequals. If this does ok then it opens the door for other 2000ad properties rather than a sequal.

This could be great. Very good news. Might it be a wholly CGI job like Warcraft? We'll see. I expect we'll see more of him in the prog as well.

Games / Re: A Couple of Ideas for Rebellion

It would cost a fortune to do an open world Dredd game that stood up, rebellion couldn't afford it and the licence isn't attractive enough surely?

Just my penneth worth in case Tharg is reading. I'm repeating other people but want to express myself. I am often left without any resolution in the ongoing stories- the multi book type. I need a beginning, middle and end but even the end of ten or so episode runs I am frequently left unsatisfied, I know you can't keep having conclusions but having so many series hanging at once is exhausting and ends up leaving me almost a little bleak at times. I can't remember what's going on.

So chuffed to see a Barry Kitson cover, especially as it's great. He was doing a lot on Dredd when I got into the prog and met him as a child about 30 years ago at a drawing workshop in Norwich. Good stuff.

What are they banging on about?

A build up is an easy problem to fall into, I'm often six months to a year behind! A friend of mine cancelled meg and prog subscriptions out of sheer fear of his unread pile.

The Cop was the highlight but the month gap between parts breaks dense stories up too much for me. This loss of momentum sometimes happens with the Prog, but it always seems to happen with the Meg (unless very cleverly written to compensate).

That was part of why I dropped the Meg some years ago. It was very hard to stay invested in multi-part stories across 3+ months - even though I remembered what was happening, I found stories just took too long to unfold in real-time to remain interested right to the end. The occasional few that avoided this, as you say, were those few written in distinct monthly chapters rather than as a long-form prog story.

I always wait until every meg story has finished before I read. This means I miss out on the episodic nature of the storytelling and have to avoid spoilers, but there's no way I could remember what happened between episodes otherwise. I'm just about to sit down and read The Cop with little idea of what it's about.

Not in the broader context of all the points raised in this thread.
