As announced first, naturally, on Everything Comes Back to 2000ad.
All I can say is, BRISTOL SQUAXX MEET UP ANYONE?!
Oooh, Leeds! I am utterly there.
Wow wow and wow again!

Or cider in the Bristolcase. I WON'T TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER.
My I suggest:
just round the corner fi FP, reasonable priced for the middle of toon and a eclectic bunch o drinkers.
I will be appearing at London as Judge Burdis citizens, as I was approached the other day about Judge Dredd Day. You may have a beating if you wish, just line up and I will oblige :D

But, meanwhile, all the cool kids will be at the Brass Monkey, which isn't the size of your living room and has a refreshing lack of folkie twats with acoustic guitars who, while sitting right next to you, have an alarming tendency to start singing without warning, forcing you to fall into a would-be respectful silence until they've finished interrupting your conversation.
My arse, you just punch em! and shout louder :D
yeah, the Brass Monkey it is, it's okay except the cushions in the back room make for rising up to the bar dificult... and that Stewarts was a great boozer before it changed and...contd page 67.

Is anyone else having trouble picturing this?
Anyway, Bristol one could be a laugh. Will have to check with the boss that we aren't already booked out for something that weekend but if not I reckon I'm in.
Nuthin for us Emerald Isle citizens Gruddamn it...
Never has an Irishman wanted a British invasion as much as I do this September.
I guess I will just have to attend the EDINBURGH signing...I haven't been to one since 1987 ( Milton Keyenes)! Been working too hard all these years so will have to make some spare time to go and get some of my collection signed. Fantastic. :D
Without my brain in gear I read that as Singing event, thinking the Fox has had too much cider, I then open the thread to find a map and Tharg too, it must be true! Further reading made me feel foolish.
Fingers crossed I'll make the Leeds event. Great that they are getting out of London.
Depending on what "talent" are at the Leeds signing I may pop along. Would have prefered Newcastle but what can you do?
Do we know when it's being announced who will be signing where yet?
Forbidden Planet's have been announced http://forbiddenplanet.com/events/2012/09/01/2000ad-day-droids-galore-london-bristol-birmingham/?utm_source=events&utm_medium=feed
"London - Dan Abnett • Boo Cook • Dave Gibbons • John Higgins • Clint Langley • Simon Spurrier
Birmingham - D'Israeli • Ian Edginton • Lee Garbett • Mark Harrison
Bristol - Mark Buckingham • Patrick Goddard • Kek-W • Dylan Teague • Rob Williams"
so we don't all get the full travelling roadshow? Shame. Though if you squeezed that many droids into Manchester's Travelling Man, you'd not get any customers in.

TPO, the dilithium crystals canna take it Captain.
The London gig is getting better each day.
Current line up is - Dan Abnett • Simon Bisley • Boo Cook • Rufus Dayglo • Dave Gibbons • Clint Langley • Lee Townsend • Ben Willsher • Alec Worley • Judge Burdis
I'm actually gonna try and book the Friday night off work for this one, it'll make a change!
Travelling Man (http://www.travellingman.com/page/38/2000AD_Signings) don't exactly say which of the "big names now confirmed" will actually be in Manchester, but they do say: "Legendary writer, and Dredd and Strontium Dog co-creator, John Wagner will be headlining the day with a visit to Manchester"
That'll do me, lad.
He did say at The Peach Tree that he was going to Manchester.
Brum for me. :)

Oh well in that case (and depending on who goes to Leeds) I might well get myself over there then. Great that its all spreading beyond London.
I was alerted to the london one last night by a droidy-peep of my acquaintance, after somehow missing all this. Who else is going (other than judge burdis)? This all sounds like a jolly jape and it'll be nice to see some faces in september (as i wont be at the other gathering).
SBT
SBT I'll hopefully be there with a bag of shit for you.............
I love a good bag of shit!
SBT
I plan to be at the London event. Hopefully there will be a good Southers turnout like last time.
JW at Manchester,I'm there. No bloody clue about this Travelling Man?I know FP,but not this, anyone know where abouts in Manny it is?
Found it,it's a comic shop, sounded like a pub for some reason.
https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Travelling+Man+-+Manchester,+4+Dale+Street,+Manchester,+M1+1JW,+United+Kingdom&hl=en&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=14.745606,43.286133&vpsrc=0&hq=Travelling+Man+-&hnear=Dale+St,+Manchester+M1,+United+Kingdom&t=m&z=16
It's a cracking little shop and I tend to use it much more than FP these days - Dale St is just round the corner from FP. It's small, about a tenth the floorspace of FP, but just as many comics, less plastic tat, and really helpful staff. Extra thrillpower related trivia - Abigail, who works there, was the colourist on the second volume of Kingdom.
last time they had a 200ad signing (Pat Mills & Leigh Gallagher for Defoe I think) it was so rammed I walked past but didn't even try to squeeze in the door!
I'm gutted to find I'm working till 1pm that day - desperately trying to swap shifts now so I can get there in good time.
Think I might have to risk it,hour n half on the train but fui*k it,I must get JW's sig on some Dreddd stuffs.
Any word on who'll be at Edinbra?

Messrs Rennie, Erskine, Bishop and MacNeil. I'm going to wait until they're in a line, then shout: "Him! It was him! The sinister little one on the left!"

Where on Earth will those Pete Wells elster residents go, seeing as there is a lack of Thrillpower in that area

Brilliant! There's a signing in Belfast!
I'm going on holiday that morning.
:|
M.
Just heard the timings for the Edinburgh and Belfast signings have changed.
Edinburgh now 12pm till 1pm and Belfast now 12pm till 2pm.
Cheers
Colin
Here's a Karl Urban Dredd by Dylan Teague who was very lovely and gave me some great critique on colouring (and resisted the urge to vomit on it and chuck it back in my face which others have done).
...and Patrick Goddard's Karl Urban Dredd. He had with him pages from the upcoming Savage and GOD'S BALLS but they were beautiful. A double page in particular is... dare I say in the idiom of the young... FREAKING EPIC. He also had a page script from Pat Mills which was. Well - it was amazing. Out with the novel-length descriptions of panels folks and in with
Panel 5: Bill blows up a warehouse
Panel 6: Explosion
Because Pat talks designs over beforehand a lot and leaves the rest up to the artist. Which is quite spectacular really. More of that sort of thing.

They are rather fantastic Mister Fox :o
Colour me jealous.
I got a Zenith sketch from Steve Yeowell, and a Devlin Waugh by Sean Phillips (but apparently my scanner's so old I can' no longer find a driver to make it work, so no pics). Best part though was that John Wagner knew who I was off here ( :o) and invited me and Spireite68 to the pub after. Lovely day was had by all. What a gent! I'm now trying to avoid nodding off before Dr Who.
This is the Edinburgh contingent reporting in!
A fine time was had by all. I bought the Fiends of the Eastern Front book so people had something to write on. Several of us, including Colin and Gordon, spent the afternoon in the pub afterwards - and very convivial it was, too.
I behaved, alcohol-wise, because I had to come home to cope with the children (my wife has a night out), but I believe several Squaxx and droids are still drinking Auld Reekie dry...
Great day at Forbidden Planet Belfast - PJ and I had the Emerald Garrison (http://www.irelandgarrison.com/garrison/home.html) providing protection, and were ably assisted by our able assistants Nathan and Leonia.
We started signing a few minutes before noon, and finished sometime around 15:30. I had it easier, of course, because PJ was sketching.
I've no idea how many copies of 2000AD were signed, but it was at least many. The queues were never very long, but they were constant. One thing that was most gratifying was meeting all the new people who'd never read the prog but were intrigued enough to give it a shot. Plus of course there were lots of old hands, some of whom admitted to having lapsed but were considering a return to the fold!
It was exhausting, but exhilarating - hope all the other signings were as successful!
-- Mike
Just back from London, shadowing Judge Burdis and taking pics.
Pretty packed down in the basement, and I'm sure CF will give his report later, as well as posting pics from the signing and his tour of duty around the west wall end.
It's all catching up to me as I feel a wee bit tired but I'm sure a shower will revive me, so I will post a few pics to get you in the mood.

Mrs Gunderson and friends are escorted home again. Meanwhile, Walter (far right) has gone for a racy red respray.
Hahahahahahahahahahaha. Genius. This would have been a much better billboard for the new Dredd film x
I went along to FP in London today. I didn't have anything to sign (I'm not really into that and it didn't even occur to me that you could ask the artists for a sketch but I doubt I'd have had the guts to ask for one) and to be honest I don't really know there faces so I didn't know who was who. I just went out of curiosity really, and to pick up a couple of things. I ended up spending a bit more money than I intended.
Anyway. Saw a few Southers there and guy in a gimp judge outfit. He was called Judge Birdy, or something like that, although he was definitely male. ;)
I noticed they had the Planet Replicas Lawgiver in one of the display cases near the entrance! (They had the Dredd badge too. The big version and the keyring.) I've seen pictures on-line, but it was nice to see the physical thing. A hefty piece. Waaay to expensive for me!
I actually came across the keyrings by accident near the signing area, just after I had got my other goodies*. It's something I have intended ordering for a while but never got round to it. I had no idea those would be there and just couldn't resist it. (Plus, save postage, if PR charge that.) At £9.99 it's the most expensive keyring I've ever bought but it's a thing of beauty and big and weighty by the standard of these things. (I'm pretty sure it's gold plated too.)
*Not related to this thread, but if you're interested it was copy #16 of Clint (I know, I'm behind, but I wanted to finish off Kick-Ass 2 and Superior. Not bad at all. Graveyard of Empires is boring me silly though.) and issue 8 of The Ultimate Graphic Novels collection. The Incredible Hulk: Silent Screams. I subscribed to this collection a while back... then stopped with the view of (possibly) continuing the collection as and when I wish rather than shelling out every month. Nice to see FP have a large collection of the back-issues.
I left pretty early as I felt a bit hot and light headed in there. I needed a drink. Goodness knows how Judge Tweety felt in his leathers.
Forgot to say , they were finally selling these bad-boys at FP yesterday..

I know we have a bit of a bromance going on, but I have to say, I frigging LOVE this photo of Burdis. It really reminds me of Brashill/Murray for some reason and everything about it is ace. I bet we see it photo riffed in a future prog...

Was in town with the family so couldn't get to join in with the hi jinks personally, but did pop downstairs at FP London about 2pm - saw JB wandering around and Molcher corralling artists and writers - although Dan Abnett was just making his escape as I was there.
Queue looked to be a decent size as well.
