Following prog 1280, the 25th anniversary prog, we'll be seeing a new story from Abnett/Elson called "Atavar"(Sp?). Apparently it's an Alien Epic! Wonder when we'll see more about this?

Surely you mean not more Elson - he sucks!!!! That stupid thing about the car was him wasn't it? And Lawcon in the Meg?

Here's an interesting fact about ole Elson...

He always draws the same nose for every character.
Check his art and 9 times out of ten they all got the same nose!

Tip for future artists - never draw the same face for each character!

I like Elson art, it's clear and descriptive, maybe not as passionate as others but still has character of its own. I think its good for certain types of story, like Lawcon which I enjoyed. Can't say exactly why but his work reminds me a bit of Herge's - not as good as, obviously - but maybe influenced by. I think it's the simple lines, and something about characters' fingers.

i for one was extremely pleased to see richard elson return to the fold. i enjoyed his work immensely on shadows, & find that the intervening decade has been extraordinarily kind to him as he's refined his linework with a bold lyricism, reminiscent of brendan mccarthy's surrealism with it's organic curves (particularly in his depiction of technological hardware).

speaking of same noses, what about simon bisley's characters always posessing one of the same three physiques (muscle man, scrawny guy & porn starlet)or those weak chins of sean phillips'?
