If page count is indication of how many episodes then this should be 16 episodes but it will only run for 15 episodes in the prog, so it might be that we will get a double episode down the lineNo, there always needs to be a few pages left over for the title page and creators' bios.

more The Out immediatelyGood. Short of a spectacular bout of ball-dropping, this is the best thing that’s run in the Prog for a long time—my favourite new strip since Kingdom.
Good the know that The Out will get another season. Will Harrison be doing the art on the next Grey Area ?

Oh man, that is astounding...
There's presumably a Universe out there where Rebellion released the bulk of these Treasury books first, and then started The Vigilant, once the reprints of these half-forgotten characters were mostly back in print... We're in the bizarro version, where they did it the other way around.
Of those: Dredd’s good, I’ve enjoyed Durham Red’s reboot so far, Proteus Vex has been bonkers and I hope survives the art shift intact, Hershey worked for me, and Sláine… exists.

Also interesting to note that 2000ad Regened will be getting a collection.
Paperback, 128 pages...
...featuring bonus Dredd stories with art by Carlos Ezquerra and Henry Flint
So January line-up confirmed as:
Dredd (of course)
Durham Red
Proteus Vex
Hershey
Slaine
I think that's strong but also suspect it might be a bit devicive!
I get people being disappointed with the overall plot of Hershey - but did you really not enjoy the craft of the way it was told? I can get lost in Fraser's art all day.

I get people being disappointed with the overall plot of Hershey - but did you really not enjoy the craft of the way it was told?I think few would dispute Simon Fraser's talent or the objective visual appeal of his work - it's just a shame it's been employed on this deeply misguided story. To some extent, it doesn't matter how skilfully something is rendered when you actively detest what it's showing.
I'm still looking forward to the next chapter of it, and also be interested to see if John Wagner has another story planned, or if Hershey is now solely in Rob's sandbox.
Surely at some stage the character's time is running out, and be interesting to see how it is handled.
I get people being disappointed with the overall plot of Hershey - but did you really not enjoy the craft of the way it was told? I can get lost in Fraser's art all day.No. I agree that the art was absolutely stellar in places but everything else about the whole enterprise was flawed to such an extent that I couldn't enjoy it. I do always fall on the side that poor art is less damaging to a good story than vice versa.

Anyone have an update on the status of the 'Regened' policy in 2021?The announcement on 2020 came 28th November 2019, so I expect we will know soon enough.
Will this publishing schedule affect my continued support of a fan favorite weekly comic?
We both know the answer.
Hershey: it’s comics; it happens. Johnny Alpha had quite the send off, but subsequently got a very long run that people didn’t seem miffed by, despite some painful ret-con/back from the dead shenanigans. Honestly, I quite like the fact someone who’d been deskbound almost against her will for so long gets to kick some arse and that we have an older woman in Dredd that actually looks her age, yet is kicking arse. That Wagner’s happy with it too is good to know.

Does this really mean Dark Justice: Torture Garden wont be getting a hard back release? Unbelievable decision. I would make do with paperback if that was offered but I don't see the point in digital only.
I think there was a big uptake in the digital format and some of the newer titles might not be so popular. The newer stuff is already in digital format so making it easier to publish
Ugh - digital only is a major bummer. Wonder if this is a COVID thing, or just the way things are going to be?
If it helps, I’ll happily pay double for physical Firekind and Slaughterbowl books!

The current issue of the Ultimate Collection contains Firekind, paired with Leatherjack.
Quite interesting that 75% of the stuff on that list was previously in the Extreme Editions.
Obviously digital doesn't mean only digital and it doesn't mean at the expense of other physical volumes. To be honest, it's nice to see then actually promote their digital only collections for once. Word of the previous ones seemed to slip out despite the best efforts of Rebellion!

REALLY big call to make, but I have just made the decision to cancel my 2000AD standing order with my LCS, as of Prog 2212.
It had been building for a while, but the die is now cast.
Three key reasons:
Dredd as a character is done for me. I've lost interest entirely.
In general the stories run this year were, in my opinion, poor. Some weeks I was reading as little as 6 pages out of 30. I would genuinely rather re-read the worst of the "nadir years" ('93 - '96) than the class of 2020.
The "Regened" all ages stuff just ain't for me. The news that they are once again devoting 8% of next years Prog's to it was the straw that broke the camels back.
I will keep an eye out for collections that interest me, but no point habitually buying something I don't enjoy anymore, even if that habit span 38 years.
John Wagner
I've just finished a 6 part Dredd for John Higgins - "Now That's What I Call Justice!" - though I don't know when it will run. Hope that suffices for the moment.

What did Sean Phillips do with Armoured Gideon?
Edit to anwser my own question: Looks like something from the 92 Sci-fi Special - thinking it was a text story now.

It wasn't a text story. He wasn't really suited to it though. If I remember correctly, most of the stories in that special were done by artists who wouldn't normally draw/paint the stories they were assigned to.
Although the direction is admittedly different, I do find it ironic that the strongest anti-Regen arguments are from people who want the Prog to revert to back how it was when they were kids. (Not saying Link Prime made that point, note.)
The creative forces that forged that era of 2000AD are either approaching retirement, retired or dead.
All other commentry aside I just gotta say Al Williamson - bloody hell he was good!
He was. Always. I have a special fondness for his Blade Runner, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi movie adaptations.

Oh… that was a bit of a rabbit-hole. Check out this (https://13thdimension.com/exclusive-preview-the-empire-strikes-back-artists-edition/) link for several sample pages from the Empire Strikes Back Artist's Edition. They're amazing.
Still no Brink vol. 4 on the list?
Just seen the Thrillmail. It seems overseas printing has been held up by COVID but it may come this month. Fair enough.
I think Pat is working on a Joe Pineapples series. Simon Bisley was taking huis time and I think Clint Langley is taking over art duties.
Wasn’t the ignorance that the script is done, but that Bisley only did a bit of it (which then dovetailed into Mills complaining about how Rebellion pay everyone really badly)?
Bisley ABC warriors pages go for 5 fugue sums.
You think he’d pump out some regardless of what Tharg pays.
Bisley ABC warriors pages go for 5 fugue sums.
You think he’d pump out some regardless of what Tharg pays.
That's a hell of a typo! Bisley takes payment in the form of sung-through arithmetic?
Heh.
My bad.
But given he’s a (loveable) lunatic... maybe?
Pretty sure money has nothing to do with it. Bisley's rate of output is just Bisley's rate of output.I should note for the record that I’m certainly not suggesting Bisley had an issue with what Rebellion pay, but that Mills was (again) inferring that this was a problem. Although given that Langley’s finishing off the strip…
Pretty sure money has nothing to do with it. Bisley's rate of output is just Bisley's rate of output.Guess he must've needed a new house when he knocked out half a dozen issues of Hellblazer in (checks notes) ... 2010!

Lorenzo it took me awhile mentally to get over the digital versus paper. I am now completely digital and unfortunately I think in the future we will see more and more digital only publications.
The best solution would have been to have each release in the 3 formats: HC, SC and D

Not happy with the decisions though. Thistlebone with 64 pages gets a hardcover, but Torture Garden is only digital? Bizarre. I like papery things. I have absolutely no interest in replacing a collection of papery things with digital. It's a book or nothing.

Mm. PJ’s art worked perfectly on that strip. A real pity he won’t be on it again. (Nothing against Cornwell here, note; it’s just when something works, it’s a shame the comic can’t—for whatever reason—stick with that.)

Is this a complete collection? Sorry to say I’ve no idea how long this strip ran for. Just want to know if I’m in for one or four! One reason I’ve not dipped my toe in Trigan Empire is I’m unsure if I’d want to go the distance.
Ordered the deluxe HB SSR, but thats a weird design choice to have the 2000AD logo rather than the SSR one on the cover, no?
Interesting choice (even for a webshop exclusive). For myself I'd pick a different cover if we were going down that route - Prog 400 (http://www.2000ad.org/?zone=prog&page=profiles&choice=400), where King Carlos reappropriated a layout stolen from Russ Heath (https://boingboing.net/2014/11/07/lichtensteins-theft-and-the.html).Whereas I'd go for the first ... for President poster cover but both were on my bedroom wall at one point.

My anticipation for that month of Wagner & Higgins Dredd is somewhat cooled by the seemingly never ending runs of Skip5 pagesTracer and Dildo Wahhh, but I've persevered through worse.
I have ordered a Stainless Steel Rat... was worried I would miss outWasn't going to bother with this and then I saw the magic words: "including the stunning colour centre spreads as they originally appeared in 2000 AD"
(I can live with Skip Tracer on the grounds that I remember all the "how/why is this appearing so frequently?" series of the early 1990s and none of them were as smoothly inoffensive as ST.)
Is it just me or is it peculiar that the July and August previews only note four ongoing strips in 2000AD? What's Tharg hiding? Surprise return for Slaine? Two months of solid Future Shocks? Double-length Skip Tracer specials?
So excluding Dredd, I have all of the stront in hardback, Fiends in Hardback.... was Third World War published in HB?It’s still on the 2000 AD shop: https://shop.2000ad.com/catalogue/RCA-B0076

Does anyone know if the forthcoming Rebellion edition of 'Fiends of the Eastern Front' (scheduled for 14th October on Forbidden Planet) will feature any material not covered in the Hachette Partworks hardcover? Seems strange that they would feature exactly the same stories and be released in such close proximity to each other.
Sweet! Lot of love for that first Black Max book. I thought Chris Weston had done the cover for this, or have I got mixed up?
Coming to the prog in September (prog 2247 - 2251):
Incredible SF action from the Eisner-nominated UK anthology! In Progs 2247-2249, future lawman Judge Dredd is trapped in house of horror in "The House on Bleaker Street";
Misty Presents: The Jaume Rumeu Collection - Paperback, 128 pages, 11th November 2021
"...and, of course - giant spiders..."
The Jaume Rumeu Collection is packed with four terrifying tales from the pages of Misty, which showcase the stunning art of Jaume Rumeu Perera, also known as Homero! Black widows, femme fatales, mad scientists and giant spiders abound in this nightmarish volume of classic Misty tales. This collection celebrates one of the most iconic villains in British girls' comics: the lethal Mrs. Webb, a raging femme fatale with killer style and a bone to pick with the British Establishment. Determined to take over the country with her army of giant arachnids, only two schoolgirls stand between her and global domination! Full of stunning artwork, terrifying twists, beautiful - but deadly - women, and, of course - giant spiders, this is an essential comic for any horror connoisseur.
That’s an incredible cover. It deserves better content.
i do want to re-read it though and look forward to the series coming back.
Also looking forward to The Alienist.

plus there's a seasonal trip to Mega-City One's most infamous penitentiary, and lots more![/i]
Also the possible opening line-up for the 2022 Prog - Dredd, Kingmaker, The Order, Deadworld and Proteus Vex is super strong in my eyes.Might be jumping the gun there. I'd guess a one-of, as all the ongoing Fall of Deadworld stories have had a one word adjectival title (despite what Barney says about the first one.) Plus Tharg normally likes to keep one of the January strips under wraps until nearer the time.
