Well I'm now insanely excited cos I've been invited along to the Sheffield shoot to help out.

Christ I'm such a nerd I'm having to take a day off work to hangout outside in the middle of a Sheffield winter for nowt and I'm a bit giddy!

Anybody else coming along?

While having a virtual back and forth with Alex Ronald (see thread in the General Section) it turns out there's going to be a sequel to Outpost that he worked on earlier in the year.

Always a little nervous with these things but it'll be interesting to see where they decide to take this story as there are clearly a number of avenues that could be explored.

Who are the creative team on the Captain Britain strip?

For those of you so inclined there's Comics Should be Good is running another of its top 100 polls. This time they're asking what the top 100 storylines ever are. If you fancy why not pop over and show 2000ad some love to try to remind the American comic buying public that there is a world outside their window (with apologise to the numerous fine folk from America who post here). Linkie to rules

Off the top of my head I'm going to vote for Nemesis Book 1, Zenith Phase 3, a Dredd epic (still debating which, Cursed Earth, The Pit...hmmmm) and possibly a few more... in fact I might try an entirely European vote just for the heck of it we'll see...

Anyway lists always fun.

I'm guessing you mean the overview of Mazeworld itself as seen by Adam from the back of a Dragonthingie. If so its amazing, if its another one dig that one out its...at the risk of repeating myself... amazing!

Arh that's cool. I really should be checking Barney before making rash statements like that! Looking forward to them.

That's fantastic. I like the way you got it back to the size you wanted it to be in such a creative manner. Class.

Well lots of time on public transport has meant I'm fair flying through my latest batch of Progs. There's no denying that the issues 1110 - 1220ish has some fantastic art and are fantastic to look at. Alex Ronald's work on Missionary Man and Henry Flint's work on Sancho Panzer and 'Apocrypha' the Missionary Man story that wraps up the plot threads from 'Goin' South' are simply fantastic. Both offer a wonderful antidope to the numerous artists who hide inferior talent behind nice brush strokes.

Don't get me wrong not all the painted work is bad by any stretch of the imagination after all I'm just started on a John Burns Dredd but often the painted art work doesn't hold a candle to the glorious pen and ink work of these two (and others like Simon Fraser and Steve Yeowell).

The two stories couldn't be further apart in tone however. Sancho Panzer is a little too flippent and light-hearted to work for me. He's a great looking character and its a promising premise that I think would have worked better with a slightly more serious tone than it had. I'm talking Sinister Dexter here no need for it to be dark or anything. Then since Dan Abnett was already writing S&D maybe he was trying to avoid just that, who knows. Its a shame cos a great idea brillantly designed and drawn by Flint didn't quite come off as well as it might.

Missionary Man on the other hand, while action packed is dense and heavy in tone. It too is beautifully realised by Alex Ronald and Gary Caldwell and the whole package, much like the previous story in 2000ad is spot on. Disturbing wonderful stuff all round. The only shame is the story threads left over all seemed rather rushed away in 'Apocrypha'.

Am I right in thinking Missionary Man returns to the Meg from here? Shame if so, still I might just have to track them down to see how this all ends.
