Prog / Re: Prog 2091 - Area of attack!

Boyhood of a Superfiend was written by Brian Skuter, as told to him by Sidney, while Tainted is omniscient third person narration.  Plenty of room for errors, embellishment and fabrication in the former.

I hope Warlord can see the value of minis that don't specifically serve a competitive game: objective pieces, like Reagan, NBK or Moses Quest, really add to something like this

In the meantime, I'm not sure what scale this is:

Corr, that's a bit nice Leigh!  Yeah, Mutant Army Generals pack would be essential. Spud Murphy and Vince Scampi needed to round out the Outlaw gang too, I think.

Reckon there's enough Fuzzes for their own pack: Clacton, Frinton, Walton and arguably the best of them all, Shaggy.  A Support pack would be good too: Teenage (General) Johnny, Billy Glum, Harvey and Precious Matson; maybe a Quarry pack would be more practical, King Clarkie, Vera Duckworth, Ronald Reagan and Adolphus Schicklgruber?

Goddamnit, I'm off to order the starter set now.

I'm waiting for Holland, Jawick and Point Clear (to appear in the comics), then we'll have an almost complete Tendring family!

Revolver is not for me, but I'm half-tempted to buy it now just to further affirm my dislike of Tornado.

Well, there's only six or seven issues, and you'd get the beginning bits of Dare and Rogan Gosh (which ISTR were both completed in Crisis).

or a copy of the V for Vendetta single

Which is absolutely terrible, BTW.
Haven't checked if my copy of the Oink! rap survived the latest house move...

I'm guessing that Oink! (and the Oink Rap) are now IP of Rebellion.  Not seen any announcements of republishing yet (though with some early Charlie Brooker, and Frank Sidebottom, they'd surely be some interest).

I own a complete collection of 2000AD, the Megazine, Starlord, Crisis and Diceman. I have not bothered with Tornado.

What about Revolver?

Little surprised at the lack of affection in some corners for Mind Wars.  For a start it is graced by some of Redondo's best work.  It is also one of the few strips that does actually stand the test of time far better than many of the other strips.  Granted it has a YA feel to it but it has so much more going for it, not least of all a rather brutal sensibility.

Difficult to judge the other strips that ran, seeing as I'd have been familiar with Stronts for a good few years when I first read through Starlord, but I'm sure Mind Wars would have been my favourite, all other things being equal.  I know that Jesus thinks it's his best work (he seemed surprised that I knew the story at the 40th).

So what was the verdict on the Thursday episode?  I'll have a go at watching in my lunch hour at work, but not sure if catch-up TV works here.  Let's hope work isn't too bad at 17:15 tonight!

Helm is a passive character relative to the others. See what else you can give him to do rather than just be a hat.

Given that one of Helm's most clearly-defined traits is his egotism, I agree it makes sense to give him more to do to make him feel like he's the most important chip. As it stands, he just has the best view.

Certainly a better view than biochip 4, in the thermal underwear slot.

Well, we've seen them in digital full body 'I have no junk but I must scream' © Spacespinner 2K in that episode where they're tronning their way through a computer system.

I kind of want to see something that loopy.

Dr Manhattan, the Bowdlerised version ;-)

If I manage to unearth said Top Trumps, (not to mention at least one other set created later in life, around the Prog 1000 mark), I will start a new thread with pictures!
👍🏻 Look forward to that

And in case that doesn't happen - art competition, anyone?

That one is Whitey.

There was also Bert Dubinski, Dredd's first arrest.

A couple of other failed judges have come for Dredd too.

The one who Dredd 'adopted', and the Sherman kid who held the city to ransom.

The name Bryce comes to mind, from Huck Finn block?

There was also a letter in this week's prog (though without the picture).  I wonder if there'll be a special edition cover where Misty is written larger?

A great side-effect of the realtime thing is that when Dredd sends someone away for 10, 20, 30 years, we have the chance of a sequel when they get out - I wonder if any Dredd writers have trawled their back progs and added a list of perp release dates to their calendar - so that anytime in the next few decades they'll get a pop-up to say so-and-so is due for release next month - instant story idea generator!

I want to do that now!  [/geek]

Though now I'm wondering - does life mean life (and ten years mean ten years) in the iso-cube, or can people be released early on parole?  Can't remember if it's ever come up...
