Me and lady Geoffery did a podcast about literally everything we went and saw at this year's Glastonbury festival - it's quite thorough (and quite silly), you can hear it here: https://www.mixcloud.com/Crazyfoxmachine/jazz-o-dick-around-glasto/ and I also did a doodle of how exciting it all was -

I have been listening to Melechesh a lot recently, particularly their most recent album "Enki"
If you like metal a little "different" I would highly recommend them, There aren't too many "Mesopotamian metal" bands out there....even if the artwork weirdly reminds of the Kula shaker album  :o

Well done sir, and madam. A fine show.
Dumb all over, a little ugly on the side.

Thats the one, not that similar just a weirdness in my brain reminds me of it  I think its the gold background, the eastern imagery and just how busy they both are.

Today I will be listening to the Adam Buxton Podcast and some Iron Maiden  to get me through a work slog

Kula Shaker were a strange little phenomenon, for a very brief moment they were the next big thing and within what seemed like the blink of an eye they were gone. I remember talk of queues at the Leadmill when they first played there, the likes of which hadn't been seen in years. There was a real buzz about gig. I saw them a wee bit after on the back of that and was a little non-plussed about the fuss. Then a few months later all that seemed to be remember was that cover and vague memories that the lead singer was a of a posh bloke who had famous parents... John and Hayley Mills or similar.

He said something like he thought swastika's were brilliant in the music press and got dragged over the coals for it

It was that old thing about the swastika itself being an appropriation of a Hindu symbol. Expressed with all the witless brio of the foppish undergraduate.

They were basically the musical equivalent of somebody else's gap year in India.

I've been listening to the Radio 3 recording of Max Richter's Sleep.

I was at that gig. My friend and I were distinctly unimpressed with the whole affair.

Our disdain culminated when my friend leaned to me and said "I bet his haircut cost about 500 quid."

On the way out I noticed that Rocket from the Crypt were playing there the next night, so I bunked off work and went to that too. Needless to say, they blew Crispian and his pals right out of the water.

Not quite. John Mills was Hayley's dad, Crispian's Grandad.
