Off Topic / What are you dunking into what?
28 October, 2014, 12:45:37 PM
I've just dunked a custard cream into a glass of cold water, not as nice as a nice in tea, but not bad.

Creative Common / Lenticular COMMANDO FORCES
01 October, 2014, 04:33:16 PM
My first go at a Lenticular image, give it a moment to load properly and it should work OK.

Hope CF and Planet replicas don't mind me using their image

Film & TV / Films that should be remade.
21 August, 2014, 03:21:47 PM

Given the number of film reboots that are around it seems to me that there some worthy films that seem to have missed the remake market. I for one would like to see Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds get the full cgi treatment it deserves in a big budget remake. Starting with some poor sod getting their finger nipped by their usually loving pet parrot, and gradually  building to complete mayhem as a school bus full of kids get pecked to death, while people in the streets get  attacked by Piranha like flocks of Seagulls after something more substantial than  a few poxy chips. No silly giant mutant birds, seeing someone get pecked to death after their eyes have been torn out by Sparrows would see the parks left empty for a while. There could even be whole dogs and cats being eaten by Pelicans...
Oops got a bit carried away there. You can probably tell I have given this some thought.

Any way what film would you like to see remade and do you have any particular  scenes you would like to see.

Creative Common / Dredd busted.
01 August, 2014, 03:15:47 PM
I have just started what I hope will be a full size  head and shoulders Dredd bust. Not sure how long this will take, but will just keep going till it's done or my money runs out. So first a base lump of white sculpey that I had lying around was used to support the start of the jaw, which is super sculpey. Built this up over a couple of days, then a trial fit under Dredd's skid lid. The helmet is made from body filler over a pepakura base which I made out of thin plastic sheet instead of paper, never again, it's just too difficult to hold together. I ended up having to wire it together in the end.

General / Anyone seen this Mean Machine.
12 September, 2013, 03:51:58 PM
Has anyone seen or got one of these figures, I sculpted/made it back in the 90's. It was sold as a kit (not by myself) at forbidden planet in London, produced I think by Proteus models. I am trying to find out if anyone actually got one. He stands about 10 inches tall.

General / Clickwheel help needed
18 October, 2012, 04:33:46 PM
Clickwheel help needed, Can anyone let me know if 2000AD from Clickwheel is the same as the printed copy, with letters pages etc. I can only get to my comic shop every 6 or so weeks, so I'm thinking of starting a sub with Clickwheel. I was going for a sub with the printed comic, but I've watched my postman stabbing around the post box before getting my post in the hole, not sure what that says about his personal life!! But I'm not taking any chances with my comics.

Creative Common / Anyone tried Sculptris
16 October, 2012, 04:34:48 PM
Anyone tried Sculptris. It's free. I downloaded it about an hour ago, and did this quick Judge death, I know it's a bit crude but this is my first attempt and I've never used Sculptris or anything like it before.
It's available here. http://www.pixologic.com/sculptris/

General / wanna tell a story?
03 October, 2012, 04:09:09 PM
I was just reminiscing with my daughter about the times we used to play that story game, the one where somebody starts off with a sentence and then the next person follows along, gradually building the story as you go. I reckon this would work on this here forum. There are some rules.
All posts must be related to the realms of 2000 AD and the megazine i.e. characters  or events etc.
Reference should (be blue and in brackets including any links) , but should only be included if you feel they are needed.
Comments or quotes about posts should be in the form of
spoilers
so as not to break the flow of the story.
Posts should also end with 4 dots....

That's it, what happens next is up to you. So in the spirit of tradition I shall begin.

Once upon a time in the world of  2000 AD the galaxy's greatest comic....

Creative Common / Bolland art with a 3D twist.
30 September, 2012, 02:21:34 PM
I always thought that the Bolland origins cover would look great in 3D, so with the movie out I decided it was time to have a go at adding a 3D effect to a classic cover image. You will unfortunately need those red & blue glasses to see it properly.

Just arrived, ripped the packaging off and just flipped open onto a random page (197/prog 1258) to be greeted with a Jock cover. This is a great looking book, looking forward to every page. 35 years funny how time fly's. I actually remember buying progs 1 & 2 together from W H Smiths on Streatham high street opposite the Odeon cinema. This book has got to deserve it's own thread highlighting readers memories/views.

According to the Icon website (distributors for Dredd} http://www.iconmovies.com.au/Movies/D/Dredd.aspx the movie is rated ma15+. Which basically means that teenagers 15yrs or older are free to see the movie and that children aged 12 or over may be allowed also, while accompanied by an adult. UK and US have the 18/R rating. Does this then imply that Dredd has been butchered by some nanny state censor board committee for the Aus cinema release?

Film Discussion / Let's not forget
09 September, 2012, 11:19:49 AM
From what I have seen of the trailers and from what is being said here it looks like Dredd 3D finally brings old stony face to the screen as he should be. It's good to hear that due respect is also being shown to the source material, 2000AD/Megazine. I have to wait till near end Oct
(see http://forums.2000adonline.com/index.php/topic,36237.msg705990.html#msg705990 ) but I can't wait to see this flick. Hopefully this is going to be the antidote to the first Dredd, talking of which, love it or hate it. For a British comic character (virtually unknown outside of the comic reading community) to get the dollars out of the American movie machine and pull Stallone (at the time still an A list star) in for the lead was no small accomplishment and that should not be forgotten. Who knows, without that first stab at a Dredd movie we may not ever have got Dredd 3D.

Website and Forum / It's not fair old chap
07 September, 2012, 02:30:34 PM
Ok I understand that as a newbie I have to earn my right of passage, but I think that it seems a tad hard to be excluded from making a comment or releasing some feelings in the FILM DISCUSSION section, as the Dredd movie is the biggest thing to happen with regards to 2000Ad etc at the moment.
Just for my information and for the benefit of other new members, how long do we wait for increased permissions, or how many posts should we make etc. Thanks in advance for any info that may be forthcoming.

Welcome to the board / Hello, Olympic Hindsight
27 August, 2012, 03:50:09 PM
As a newbie Just thought I'd say hello, sooo  Hello.
Now I realize this is a tad late, but with hindsight I thought that Old stony face should have polished his lawmaster and done a lap around the Olympic ring road during the opening/closing ceremony.  Come to think of it a nod towards Doctor Who and a couple of Daleks wouldn't have been a bad idea. I know Dredd is an American character but all of the aforementioned are Iconic British creations. That are making headway into global awareness, and should have been proudly shown off as such.
