She also appears to be bathed in some eerily supernatural light.

I was disappointed with them - but then they are aimed at the younger audience.

They don't really hold up well to his later books - particularly the last Gaurds book he did.

Maybe worth a read if your a big fan (I'd read all of his other books so read theses for completions sake).

Of his younger-reader books I think the Wee free men is the best (unless you always got a bit distressed trying to read Middenface McNulty dialogue!).

Thats a relief then - if I couldn't put up the tooth related strips/pictures, the site would only have two strips on it!

Thanks for the vote of confidence on my artwork Dave (...which I have been a bit down on this week).

I think I might need the luck with regards to setting up the site though. HTML doesn't seem THAT bad....but it's still early days. I'll get there in the end.

I'm enjoying doing the easy part at the moment and designing banners etc!

'Rupert Trug'.

It's better than what I came up with.

Bah.

Ps. To avoid unpleasant legal action, any royalties received based on the adventures of Stan Sticky in Sticky World will be forwarded to several borders who may (MAY) have had slightly similar ideas. Though I hate to do it.

Mr Sticky has been an idea I had since a little boy, I think I first thought of it and Sticky World back in 1978.....

You aren't trying to steal my ideas are you???!!!!

It's for just this very reason that I have copyrighted.

Tut, people today.

Although I have ripped the style of Stan Sticky off Brian Bolland - I make no apologies about that.

....but by far my best entry to the competition was my incredibly original, never before thought of, copyright Simon Penter 2005 - Stick man!

Inspiration just struck me on this one - I decided a stick-like-basic-man-shape was by far the most original and threatening villain Dredd could ever face.

Took me weeks, but well worth it.

Bet you all wish you'd thought of it.

Borrilan Trug!

Done in a hurry (and it shows!) - and originally meant to be monochrome (hence the heavy black).

Thought I'd better do an alien as well!

I thought I'd post my entries here - as requested a way back by 'Stuhenry'....

Number 1.....
Totally inspired by my complete lack of sleep at the time (...actually, my ongoing lack of sleep).

Cale is a Tek Judge who was buried alive in the ruins of a sector house(during total war, a bit of story continuity)- maybe it collapsed into the undercity (couldn't get that into my 50 words), critically wounded he administered a prototype-tech device to keep himself alive.  Whoops! It
didn't work properly, completely infiltrates his body and mind and he is left in a permanent state of conciousness in his tomb for 6 months - goes
ever so slightly loopy, gets rescued/escapes, does naughty things etc etc.

Perhaps this was a bit too long-winded really (and a bit run-of-the-mill) - especially if it was only going to be 4 pages long!!

And it was a bit lazy - another Judge-gone-bad tale!
There is a second page to this which re-uses the artwork and has a story-box.

I actually sent two entries in and didn't know which one was runner up until the Special came out (the letter I got didn't specify)!

So my second entry was.......

Off Topic / Re: Sithy revenge

I still love them all.
And do does my 2 year old - not only is she a Jar Jar Binks fan (it had to be aimed at somebody) she also carries a Qui Gon Jinn figure everywhere she goes.

Thanks to my daughter I've seen most of Phantom menace at least three/four times in the last week or so alone - and before that we had a pretty much daily edited viewing of Sith.
I'm not sure there are many films that I can still find some entertainment in after this level of overkill!

I was a Star Wars fan from the age of four, and though they have many failings (the originals also) I enjoy the prequels as much...........roll on the TV series.

My love of it doesn't continue outside of the films (and games) though - not too bothered with the comics and have never read one of the novels.

Just take it for what it is - spectacle, entertainment, escapism and fun.

Besides all this, I'll have you all in a fight.
Lightsabres optional.

General / Re: Do some artists get worse, or ...

I don't think any of the artists mentioned in this thread or the previous thread along the same lines have deteriorated in quality.

People need to make a living first and foremost and so I can quite understand simplifying your methods (those painted pages must have left some of the artists on the bread line - they are labour intensive).

As for Kev Walker - his new stuff is brilliant (a favourite of mine) - and I prefer it to his painted work.
Same goes for Carl Critchlow.

As for McMahon - his old stuff is fantastic - but then I think his new stuff is fantastic as well.
I'm quite happy to see artists try out new stuff rather than endlessly regurgitating a style they used 30 years ago. I imagine it could get a little boring for the artist.

If I want to look at his old work (which I do frequently) - I just get it off my shelf!
