Adobe will pay you stupid amounts of cash to use your obsessive artwork as a showpiece for their overpriced software - that's a sort of motivation, I suppose.  But there's chaps who use flight simulator games on their pcs and fly across the Atlantic in real time.  Different strokes and different folks, and all that jazz.
Of course, if I had a computer that could do a 15000 layer photoshop file and not short out the electric in the house, I'd show it off somehow, too.
