Never really got on with Stereolab beyond their first couple of singles.

For anyone else who misses the shoegazing sound of their youth, I've picked up a couple of Asobi Seksu albums and found them to be an excellent modern substitute. They also have a prety Japanese girl who sings.

The opening bars of that link curiously were very Sterolab I thought!

This is my favorite Stereolab album :

But i am not paying 54 quid for it though and i used to have a copy of this but i have no idea where it went to.There was a version that had a yellow sleeve which was available in shops and i only got my copy of thge above because a friend was their promoter.

Adam And The Ants, Gary Numan and Depeche Mode are what I'm listening too most right now.

Although on a list that I'd recommend to people: Mr Scruff, The Cat Empire and Brian Eno.

I was in the pub earlier and the jukebox was on random - Garbage 'why do you love me?', Smashing Pumpkins '1979' and Sneaker Pimps 'Post-Modern Sleaze' all back to back, I was very happy!
I was going to procrastinate but I think I'll leave it till tomorrow

Ah! Cat Empire, you beauty! Of course, I had to youtube, and now I want a holiday. This one reminds me of one of my favourite people...

Just rediscovered the B52s again courtesy of Youtube.

well the early  b-52's planet clair & rock lobster are pretty much what is known as NO-WAVE.
also from atlanta is the great delta 5
the ny no-wave scene was well documented with bands like teenage jesus/james white/contortions
on the west coast we had  geza x & the mommymen/pink section/early devo/b-people/tuxedomoon/nervous gender

Rock Lobster is a favourite of mine.  Fun to play and sing along with on a guitar too.  Undemanding but huge fun and very engaging.  Go B52s!

And Eno?  Oh yeah.  Recently unearthed a bunch of those albums as a result of watching that cracking Arena on BBC4 a few weeks ago.

Now no sniggering at the back BUT back in my early teen years I was a massive Queen fan and I've dug out a few of my old vinyls of late and their first 6 album are still really enjoyable. The stuff after that less so but these first isx (Queen to News of the World) still stand up and are good fun.

Thanks Colin, my best mate was a huge Queen fan in my teens and I absorbed fandom by osmosis.  Those albums ARE great, but I've not listened to them in ages, worth a revisit I reckon.

I can't say I've ever been into 'world music' but lately on Spotify I've been listening to Amadou & Mariam the "blind couple from Mali". Amazing stuff.

Funnily enough, I've rediscovered them through Spotify this very week. Jokes about Brian May's hair and wife aside- they fucking rocked.
