Right, who's dead, who's not, who might be?

Definitely dead:
definite being a vague term, oxymoronic I know, in Dante's world obviously
Nikolai's crest (sniff)

Jocasta Romanov (burnt to death by her ex/brother)

Andreas Romanov (he's buried)

Valentin Romanov (sucked into mini-black-hole)

Nastashia Romanov (Konstantin melted her - his own sister!)

Aleksandr & Aleksandra Romanov (Dante murdered both of them in first storyline)

Julia Makarov (Konstantin chopped her in half)

Papa Yeltsin (decapitated by ArkaDmitri)

Viktor's new wife (sniff)

Count Pyre

Lauren Stone
Not sure:
Vladimir Makarov (he looked alive)

Lulu Romanov (she's tricksy, reckon she's ok)

Victor Romanov (sadly, much as I love the silent fella, reckon he's toast THIS time)

Countessa de Wynter (heavily implied that after Dante brought her to justice, Papa Yeltsin had her killed)
Very much alive:
Arkady Romanov

Dmitri Romanov (shot himself in the head, but only after piggybacking on the crest he gave to Arkady at the end of Tsar Wars and seemingly running the show all along)

Konstantin Romanov (evil mad shagger)

Jena Makarov (Dmitri/Arkady (both of them) have set their/his hopes on marrying her remember)

Flintlock & Spatchcock (they HAVE to have lived, right?)

Elena Kurakin (not looking well)

Katarina Dante

Nikolai Dante (not looking happy OR well and without his crest)
That's as of "Farewell to Arms" - all subject to change.  Anyone who wants to add more feel free.

General / No fun anymore
18 December, 2009, 02:34:46 PM
I've had enough of the Cimpering Sunts thread and it's fallout.  Not that any of you are actually experiencing any of it. Just me & another user who I dare not name.  The fallout manifesting as a sick feeling in the belly and actual tears.  All day so far.

I'm trying to be reasonable about it as I'm feeling like crap anyway and I'm fairly sure/hopeful nobody intended to make me feel like such a Cimpering Sunt.  Some of you may notice your ignorecount has gone up.  Forgive me, but I think it's easier that way, no offence meant.

PLEASE do not reply or even PM me. Not interested.  At all.

I've just binned my advent calender entry by the way.  Ta.

I'm off.  See you after Christmas.

General / Sinister Dexter collection
15 December, 2009, 03:30:43 PM
We have spoken before about how these SinDex collections have misesed a few stories out.  Most notably the entirity of "Downlode Tales".  But, leaving that aside for the minute, let's talk about them in general.

Firstly, I have a question - how many trades would it take to get somethng LIE caught up.  The Dante collections will be up-to-date once the 9th book, Amerika, arrives in the new yer.  How many books would be needed to get SinDex to that sort of state?  I presume that there ARE plans to do so?

Second, does anyone think there are stories that could be comfortably "bumped" in favour of making a better, more cohesive collections in future?

Third, would there be any sense in launching "case files" type phonebook collections, or would that be prohibitively expensive?  I only ask because it WOULD mean we could get more complete stuff IN ORDER.  Particularly Downlode Tales.

Fourth, well, your thoughts in general on the collecios, both the ones we've had so far and the ones we've yet to see.  Tharg and his droids read the forum, so if we have any PARTICULARLY good and implementable ideas, you never know....

Thoughts, folks?

Website and Forum / Threads to be moved?
27 October, 2009, 01:29:51 PM
I'd like to suggest this one:

http://2000adonline.com/forum/index.php/topic,26651.msg463386.html#msg463386

It isn't "news" by any stretch and probably more at home in "general", but it's a new user so forgiveable.  I realise there's probably another topic for this, but I don't seem able to find it.  The ultimate irony of this perhaps being in the wrong place is not lost on me....

Right, I've only been about these parts for a comparitively short while and have missed a huge swathe of the good stuff.  But new arrivals are constantly pitching up and should have a go-to thread for their education in just how "off-topic" we can get in the off-topic sub-forum.

So here's the deal.  Post your favourite classic thread - the stupider and more ridiculous the better.  Threads that are rapidly derailed into utter stupidity are also welcome.  If it made you laugh like a drain and even the thought of it makes you grin, this is the place to share your favourites.

Oh, make sure to post the thread's name and/or what it's on about too, that way we'll avoid too much needless repetition.

Here's my first entry, the one that I've just been pointed towards.

Any ideas for the voice acting in the ABC Warriors cartooon that we've all just seen the trailer of?

Now clearly, the chances are that any actor most of us can name may be beyond the reach of the budget (and voice acting is a different animal anyway, just because you can do theatre or telly or whatever, it doesn't necessarily follow that voice acting is going to be up to scratch).  So what I think we MIGHT be discussing here is naming people who sound LIKE what we think the characters' voices sound like.

I'll go first, and my ideas are far from complete.  Indeed, I've only got one real idea, and he's not even a proper warrior.

Ro-Jaws - Ideally I'd like Ronnie Barker to come out of retirement and do this, otherwise I'd be happy with a sound-alike.  "Fork 'andles" etc.

Also, for some reason, I've always imagined Mek-Quake to have a high, irritating voice.  No idea why, but I think the presumed deep voices of the likes of Mongrol and Hammerstein need a balance at the other register.

Thoughts anyone?

And yeah, I'm aware I mis-spelled "scrawny".

Does knowing this is on the horizon dent my enthusiasm for the upcoming kick-ass Fraser-drawn extravaganza?  Hell no.

I'll just have to try and avert my eyes at the crucial moment.

It's very nearly my 666th post.

I'm not at ALL religious (thank Dog) or superstitious (touch wood, hur hur I said wood) but I can't help feel that if I allow this completely meaningless number to pass without at least THINKING about what I'll use it on, well.  I'll have wasted an opportunity.

Any thoughts welcome.  And for those of you who'd like it if I were to not post QUITE so much, keep the debate lively here and I'll be more likely to put off my next few posts............

Exciting, innit?

Hey folks,

Following from TordelBack's mental idea about twinning this fine town with John Byrne's forum and John making a civic visit to judge our flower show, myself and King Trout decided to post our entires in this competition.

So now we've decided to make it official.  Here's my entry taken by my own fair hand in my brother's garden:

Trouty gave us this:

Not sure what the rules are.  Or time frame.  Or prize.  I don't think we need them.  This IS just a bit of stupidity after all, I didn't think I'd have to work out any minor details.

Help! / Slick Dickens and Truman Kaput
25 July, 2009, 07:51:14 PM
Hivemind, hear me!

I remember the character Slick Dickens in Judge Dredd very vaguely.  I remember I liked him and his writer Truman Kaput.  I remember he made several appearances in both 2000ad and the Meg.

I just can't remember for the life of me anything else.  Can anybody remind me so I can go romping through the back progs and remind myself WHY I liked this character/s.

Ta in advance.  x

I had these two on order at a certain mono-breasted online retailer.  On the original release date I received an email from them explaining that they were having trouble sourcing both books for me and would contact me.

I'm not exactly twitching and shaking with withdrawal, but is this JUST Amazon or have any copies shipped to REAL shops or other web retailers?  Failing that, does anyone have any idea how long I've got to wait.  I've not read EITHER before (during my period of unfaithfulness you see) and I'm still rather floppy following the flu.  I can use all the entertainment I can get right now.

Thanks in advance for anyone who replies.  x

Off Topic / Page numbers? WHAT page numbers?!?!
15 July, 2009, 08:11:37 AM
When did I become a page numbering droid?

How?

And when will I be promoted next?  It's all so confusing.  Last time I looked I was Mek-Quakes Leftovers....  What did I miss?  And am I sad and tragic for wondering/caring?

Ok,  I can guess your answers to that last one.  How about attempting to help me out on the others....

Welcome to the board / The Wilderness Years...
18 June, 2009, 07:35:51 PM
I'm back.

I disappeared in about 2000 or so.  Many reasons.  A grumpy partner who complained whenever I sat down to my prog, patchy performance in the progs at the time, financial difficulties, failure of my thrill merchant to secure my prog despite having it on order.....  No.  I know there's no excuse.  And I'm *sorry* [sob sob]

But I did.  I went off to university as a mature student and, despite reading since the run up to Necropolis and having filled a good 80% of my back-prog gaps, I regretfully turned my back on Tharg.  I thought he wasn't appreciating me like he used to.  Each week was a disappointment (the weeks I could remember what was going on that is).

Anyway, I've been dragged back to the fold by the new graphic novel editions - Origins, Brothers of the Blood, Stront phone books, the Dante and the ABCs.....  Fantastic stuff.  I'm completely hooked again.  And wouldn't you know it?  The weekly prog is totally on form - truly something of a golden age.  I know my pennance is to track down everything I've missed.

Anyway, I'm sorry Tharg.  I'm sorry my fellow Squax.  I'll never leave your emerald embrace again.
