Hi all hoping you can help, i have the hobbit and lord of the rings books can anyone give me details or a list of which other books by tolkien or his son expand the middle earth history please

A complete recent list would be awesome so i can buy them at the end of the month

I believe theres a 12 book set but christopher tolkien is this worth buying ? are they relevant to my previous question about a complete lotr history...
Is the silmarillion part of this collection or a stand alone book?

I was thinking about which character i would have loved to have seen in 2000ad......i have picked DC's comic villian/anti hero Lobo i think dc havent really given this character much depth infact the only Lobo story that springs to mind is teh one were he featured in a superman story were lobo got drunk and kisked teh snot out of ole supes.

Alan moore and Simon bisley that would have been epic for me!

Any body else think of a character?

Help! / Acetate/Acitate
14 April, 2010, 07:51:26 AM

Rob liefeld i know alot of people could pick fault with his art work but i liked his run on marvel's X-Force and New Mutants and was a big force in Image's independant success along with the likes of jim lee

J scott campbell again did some great stuff with Gen 13 story and art wise

BUT i felt that both had the same problem were they either were unable or couldnt be bothered finishing story lines or taking forever to release an issue

Which is a shame as they made a big impact on keeping me interested in the american side of the comics

Anyone old enough to remember the scfi tv series V from the 80's may be interested to know that the new version will be on Sky TV next tuesday :)

If battlestar galactica is anything to go by it should be decent.

Help! / Casefiles/agency files etc
01 April, 2010, 02:17:02 PM
Maybe its because i havent followed 2000ad since the early 80/90s i feel a little out of the loop as i mentioned in my robo-hunter post.

This is directed more at books like strontium dog/rogue trooper amongst a few others i havent been collecting 2000ad for over 20 years and have now got back into alot of the old stuff and am wondering if there is anywhere i can look that would make clear whats actually in the case file type books as im looking at Stontium dog agency files yet theres also stand alone books with stories and i dont want to be buying a stand alone if its in a casefile type books

Again maybe just me being new to the buying of these books but it just doesnt seem clear

Help! / Legal help/advice
06 February, 2010, 07:54:32 AM
About 7 years ago i disowned my mother and step father after nearly 24 years of abuse verbally, mantally and physically during the period they had a grip on me i signed for some loans for them, they recieved the money i got nothing. After deciding enough was enough with the help of my now wife i broake away.

During this time i discovered that none of the loans i had signed for for them had ever been paid back even though they said they would...yes im an idiot i should have known better anyway after paying out a crippling amount of money it would seem we have paid it all off.

Now my question :-

I have no plans to get back in touch and now worry... knowing what there like that when they die any debt they have will end up in my lap to pay off. im not wanting/going to.... is there any legal way of avoiding there debts ending up on my door when they die?

As im not even sure what happens to the debt when they die???

As a comic collector ive been collecting comics since 1989 before then i was either given comics second hand or bought what i could with pocket money.

In 1990 a friend recommended forbidden planet in newcastle which was a train right from county durham, i had spent a large sum of money in there collecting image,dc,marvel.dark horse titles i have an extensive collection im proud of part due to the fact at one time forbidden planet was the best place and organised shop to buy my titles recently, i got back into 2000ad to the point of wanting to spend money on graphic novels and various titles.

Whilst viewing peoples comments i was saddened to see peoples comments regarding there Forbidden planets i had stopped going to my nearest in newcastle a few years back in favour of cheaper price's more reliability and more choice.

Over the years i have popped in on passing i can say that my view is the same as many people on this forum, sadly the shop has gone downhill no organisation regarding comics, graphic novel's etc everything has just been thrown onto a shelf without any care or thought for potential buyers/collectors looking to spend some money  sadly after trying to look for 2000ad titles for nearly 20 minutes and finding very little in any order  i gave up and left saying to the wife it would be the last time i stepped in through there doors.

Its a shame as the guys running the store are the same people from way back at the start of my collecting

Is there any reason why the case files and other 2000ad tie ins are in black and white? is it down to costs?
