Ooh that looks good. Trailer for a series?
Is it bad that I was grinning like an idiot all the way through that?
Oooooooooooh! Nerdgasm!
ITs too short !
I want more !!!
Nice. I like.
oh shite! was it series? thought it was for new game???
Whatever it's for, it looks great.
That looked really cool. I hope we get to see some of the other ABC warriors soon.
Dang tootin!
Wowza! It looks F.A.B. but it's far too short, though. Give us more so we can get all judgemental and whiny about it, Tharg!
I think I've just cum
Oh cool, we need more of that. I like the painted style of animation.
Hammerstein seems to be using a Dredd movie Lawgiver, or something similar.
Given that Mek-Quake is there, I'm assuming it's set on Mars in the current storyline.
Looks good.
Regards
Robin
Getting rid of Mekkers' old killdozer body was a massive shame. If only because artists would occasionally put sound effects like "trundle" near his tracks.
Now where ELSE are you going to use that sound effect? WHERE? Exactly.
Loved that. Flat out loved it. I'd pasted the link to facebook almost before the video had finished loading. Sweet.

That was my only gripe. Ditch it, it reactivates bad memory circuits otherwise it's fantabulous.
Looks great, nicely done!
Shouldn't they tell "the Volgan War" story to set it all up?
I'm unable to view this for some reason - BUT DEAR LORD I'M EXCITED!
ABC WARRIORS!
ABC WARRIORRS!
ABC WARRIORS!
YEEEEESSSSSSSS-AHH!
Ahem. [Shuffles away, turning bright pink]
That looks...rather good. Any further information on the series its from?
-Bouwel-
That looks like Mars for the setting. I'm resolved to agreeing now on my early uncomfortable feeling about Hammers's firepower. It is a bit jarring.
mek- quake (if that is him in the background) seems to now have legs. other than that small reservation it looked bloody good.
the graphics look like in-game cutaways to me - Rebellion is a games company after all. I'm sure we'd have heard a whisper before now if an animated film or series was in the pipeline.
Loved it though - wouldn't have pegged Mongrol as a jumper though!
im on my phone, so cant see- but surely this is the impossible pictures cartoon series, as promised
Looked pretty nice as a blend between 2D and 3D styles, just wish there was more of it...

Beat me to it Garageman this must be first work from the proposed TV show, though whether its still to be that we'll have to wait and see. I remember they said they hoped to have something for Comic Con but what the heck that looks like it'll be worth the wait.
Exciting.

D'OH! I even contributed to that thread! They always said that my herbal cigarettes would affect the memory!
Very nice indeed. Would I be too far off the mark if I were to speculate wildly about an ABC game to coincide with the animated series?
me likey lots, yes a game to coincide with the new series would be cool. WHat sort of game would you make ofit though? Squad based First Person or better yet Isometric turned based fun (X-Com styles).
I dont think Rebellion has done anywhere near enough to exploit 2000AD's character cata;ouge, we've had just 2 games in the however many years Rebellion have owned em hopefully these series will kick it all into gear.
CU Radbacker
Wow - that looks really cool. I remember seeing a bit of that Doctor Who animation thing they did, but this looks streets ahead of that. Can't wait to see some more.
Actually just speculating a bit but I do wonder if they are going to make an announcement at BICS about this?
Yeah, that's what I assumed. Let's hope the lucky sods that are there let us know asap!
Just got back in from work, now how am I supposed to get to sleep with those images implanted into my brain.
I'm slightly excited............
Oh that's just too cool. Can't wait. A game would be too much to hope for. Although if Rebellion WERE thinking of that, squad based would be the obvious way to do it.

Pay attention at the back, there. He's had legs intermittently since waaaaaaay back in Nemesis Book V, and exclusively since halfway through the 'Return to Mars' arc.
Whoaaaaahhhhh!!!
What the fuck was that.
Gimmme more.

I agree—it was a real differentiator. I imagine it was pretty damn awkward to write for, though. Anim looks nice—it'd be great to see more 2000 AD stuff 'out there', what with us so far having one shitty Dredd movie and a rip-off of Shok.
Very impressicvve.
Rebellion has a future here.
I like it a lot. I'm particularly impressed by small things like those explosions of rock from energy-bolt hits and the sparks as the bolts hit the bunker.
I'm not too keen on Hammerstein's gun either, but for a different reason. It doesn't bother me that the gun looks like Dredd's gun from the film. I quite liked the gun design. It's a nice little reference if anything, (especially concerning Hammerstein's cameo in the film) and if this animation turns out to be good, well it's better for the gun to be associated with a cool production, right? It's not as if Hammerstein really has an iconic gun in the comics either apart from his built in arm weaponry (if that qualifies). He tends to just pick up a generic looking futuristic pistol for his hand weapons. As his name suggests, his iconic* weapon isn't a gun (although he uses them often). As long as any forthcoming Dredd animation keeps to the mark 1/2 lawgiver style of the comics, I don't mind.
The problem I do have with it is that of proportion. It's scaled way too large. I usually like big guns on robots, but for some reason it looks weird here.
As for wanting more, I notice this particular animation is very Mongrol-centric. I wonder if there will be little promo shots featuring each of the characters in the central role. I can imagine a lightening flickering Deadlock image...
*Sorry to use that word again.
EDIT- I just noticed Hammerstein swaps sides in the animation too! I guess that slow-mo gave him time to do that. Heh.
I'd say the opening and silhouette was very Gorillaz-esque in the feel of it.
I'm afraid this pales in comparison next to my ABC cartoon.

Sweet Jesus yes!!!
What is it, where is it, when is it?!?!?
I need more of this NOW!!!!
And that is rubbish compared to your BUTTON MAN cartoon.
And your mum.
It looks great, but can we work out a left-to-right for it?
Obviously that's Deadlock with the sword, plus Mongrol and Hammerstein, but who are the others. I know it's meant to be a teaser, but I'm not certain which robot's which.
- Trout
I think you are teasing us King Trout but anyway, left to right...
Deadlock, Joe, Hammerstein, Mongrol, Blackblood, Mek-Quake & Morrigun.
Now admit it, you knew that anyway!!!!
Er, no. I wasn't. I couldn't tell if it was Pineapples, and I missed much of the comics that Morrigun appeared in. I've since bought them, but just skimmed that stuff, I must admit.
Anyway, cool trailer! Thanks for the help, CF.
I wonder where Happy Shrapnel & Steelhorn are!!!
Quoting RadBacker....

I was thinking of something like the team based Throne Of Darkness which is based on something like the Seven Samurai film.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Throne_of_Darkness (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Throne_of_Darkness)
Of course, it might a require a few changes other than the most obvious ones.
Steelhorn? Hopefully he's nowhere. Such a dull non-character. In the first series he was a living weapon with no character. Since his return he's just a cypher for Medusa. At least Happy Shrapnel had a character and a clear archetype to represent. Even if nobody quite knows how a robot can have a beard.
That puts me in mind of Morrigun. I thought she had massive potential as a keeper for the team.
I'm hoping we haven't seen the last of her. I loved the whole thing Pat Mills did with her and Mongrol in Hellbringer. One of a few moments in comics that have made me shed tears of laughter!
Her comparitively meaningless death sort of funstered that up though.
Although Steelhorn was supposedly gone forever and HE came back. When Mills remembers that Morrigun was the best 7th warrior, we'll cheer quietly so he doesn't feel quite so daft for killing her off to bring back a character nobody cared about.
I dunno... I kinda figured the way she appeared for the last time, as a ghostly apparition, might leave the way open for a return one day. I wouldn't put it past The Man Mills.
Steelhorn, I'm not so sure about - I kinda like him. I like how Clint Langley rendered him for The Volgan War.
Wouldn't it be great if there was a cartoon where the ABC Warriors met Charlie?
I'd take Big George as as second choice, though.
- Trout
I don't know if anyone has actually confirmed if this is for a game or tv series on the thread as of now but having just read Jason Kingsley's facebook update, he has written.
"Early work on TV show..."
Yeah, it was announced in the first place as a tv show and that confirms it.
I know they said they were going to reveal something at BICS to do with the tv a while back but it's good to get confirmation, like you said Mike.
The worst bit is the word 'early', how long will we have to wait?

It had better not to be TOO long- my boys are literally jumping up and down with excitement, and talking about nothing else. They think "Joe Pineapples" is a hilarious name and keep asking me about action figures. Eldest is playing ABC Warriors in the playground with his friends...
SBT
That's really cool, SBT!
I remember buying the Khronicles Of Khaos trade a while back after getting back into comics. I always had fond memories of the ABC Warriors, but missed a giant chunk of the story (everything after 'The Black Hole' in fact).
Well, for about the next fortnight, anybody who sked me if I'd read any good books got a lecture on the ABC Warriors. I think I may even have switched a few people onto it who'd never read a graphic novel / comic book otherwise.
They're absolutely fantastic characters - a TV show is long overdue. Heck, I hope it doesn't stop there! I want a movie!

I don't think they need to be mutually exclusive. I'd be hoping for something of the tone of DCs stuff like Batman:Animated, Batman Beyond and Justice League. Suitable for the kiddies but intelligently written and with plenty to enjoy for the growed ups. Hell, I had absolutely no interest in Superhero comics but I loved those shows cos they were just well written telly.
Just a shame about The Brave and the Bold, thats all.
If this show can walk the same fine line I reckon we'll be onto a winner. This from someone who has never really considered The Warriors as particular favourites.

Damn straight. One of the few things DC has done well in recent years is develop (or allow someone who knows what they're doing to develop) the animated versions of their properties.
Justice League was required viewing in our house when it was on at Friday tea-time on Cartoon Network a couple of years ago.
Cheers!

I think 'Brave and the Bold' gets the template about right, shame its disappeared from our screens. The problem as has been stated before is if they aiming at that type of market, what comic is there to attract the kids to, if that is one of its aims?

I know what you mean. I took my nephew to FP for the first time recently and he got all excited by the sight of all those books with characters he recognised on the cover. Trouble was, a quick flick through them and he lost interest. Sad fact is, even if he had found something he liked the look of you run the risk of "is it suitable?" I tend to be quite broad in terms of what I would let kids read but I'm not his Dad and I reckon a lot of whats on the shelf these days wouldn't go down to well with the majority of parents.
I'm putting my vote firmly in the "kids cartoon that's done well enough so mum and dad can sit and enjoy it WITH the kids" box. There's not a lot of stuff that's both suitable for kids AND intelligently written and DCs cartoon output of recent years has usually been bang on in that department.
If the cartoon is successful enough we may find that Twoth can justify a kid's comic to stand beside Twoth and the Meg and I, for one, would welcome that. There was a time I bought superhero comics (I know, I'm surprised too) and the only one I bothered with was the excellent Batman & Robin Adventures, beautifully done stuff and my neices and nephews could read it too.
I'm not a fan of the A.B.C Warriors, but that was an awesome trailer.
Wow- Necro Boarder! Spooon!
I was just reading PJ Holden's thread about kid friendly and it hit me what is so jarring about Hammersteins big gun.
Not a creative thing but a philosophical jarring. See, knowing the Hammerstein design its always been secure that he was built as a war bot without the choice of being tooled up with weaponary. So there in lies a nice anthropological despot for understanding his nature. Whereas, in the trailer he's chosen to tool up some more. You get me? He chose to handle some killing machinery. And, well it makes me feel uncomfortable in its immediate message. It seemed a bit pointless. He's got those unique qualities and its wasted on picking up some nondescript gun. Anyone can pick up a gun.
By all means use the fist gun, its incorporated into his psyche from the word go. Handling overkill is much more Mek Quake's arena.
What's the problem with the big gun?
He's always carried a stupidly big gun. I imagune that this is becasue his super strong robot arms can lift heavier weapons than puny human ones.
Plus, this being robots fighting robots, they can go to town on violence and still keep it in a child friendly zone.
Hell yeah! Big guns are the heart and soul of ABC Warriors!
For me, anyway.
BIG JOBS!
Please let this mean theres going to be a game of ABC Warriors! This trailer had me smiling all the way through ;D
If some enterprising sould spent some time, care and attention over an ABC Warrirors game, I'd buy it. And I'm really not the gaming type.
Imagine how cool it would be to lay waste to the villainous scum of the universe as one of Meknificent Seven. Especially if we get to hear Mek Quake's roar of 'BIG JOBS!' at every turn.
ONE would be nice.
ALL SEVEN would be amazing.
And maybe the likes of Happy Shrapnel, Ro-Jaws etc as unlockable characters?
COME ON THARG!!!!
Say, whatever happened to Ro-Jaws? He's been conspicuously absent from the last few ABC trades...
I wrote to Thargikins some time ago about this and recieved a cryptic "keep watching the progs" - hopefully he'll show up again soon.
Given the brain power required to clean sewers being less than that of a Mark III War Droid, this appearance might even be in Savage.

Still the king of utensils! Unfortunately my spoon-bride Jill got lost amongst a bunch of other, virtually identical, spoons during my absence from the board. However, I still support the right to marry cutlery as a means of combating loneliness and curbing population growth.
Does this count as going off-topic? I can never tell.
Fan-made adaptation of The Black Hole. The first four pages of The Black Hole, to be precise.
Sound's awful, so forget about trying to follow the dialogue or awful narration, but the cosmic visuals of the first video are actually sort of lovely.
The style of animation isn't best suited to the battle scenes of the second video, but it's still an interesting curio:

Right, you are. The third part makes the bold stylistic decision to spend the entire second half of its short running time playing stock music over a black screen.
I'm not a production values queen, so I could actually watch and enjoy a version of this with audible dialogue:
