Need to block youtube on a mac my son uses...

All you mac lovers out there, how do I do this?

Cheers,

J.

Couple of ways:

1) Set him up his own login account and you can then add parental controls - including blocking/allowing websites. (But he'll end up using your login)

2) Add/edit your hosts file so that youtube points to nowhere - more complex, but unlikely to be easily gotten around (downside: you won't be able to use youtube).

(You'll probably want to google up instructions for both of those things...)

Is there not an option (like in windows) to just list the sites you want blocked?

Yes.

Create an account for your son. The chances are that your default account is an admin account (and you'll want admin privileges for yourself anyway), so you need to leave that alone.

You create accounts under the relevant System Pref:

Click on the little "+" shown to create a new user account for the little bleeder, err, chap, and once you've set up a user name and password, click on "Parental Controls":

Then go to the 'Content' option and click "Customize"

And then enter any sites that you specifically want to exclude:

Hope that helps!
