General / Dreddful dreams
18 June, 2011, 02:43:57 AM
So...I awoke in the early hours yesterday in a cold sweat. "Why?" I hear you say. Well...I had what could only be truly described as a nightmare - I dreamed I was back in the village of my youth being stalked by Judge Death. He wasn't fast, but the fucker was there at every turn - it was bloody terrifying!

I had to get up & have a smoke to calm down.

I don't remember ever having a 2000AD related dream before; even at the height of my young obsession. I may regret this...but how about you?

Tell me about it - it pays to be mental!

..so,you're living in MC-1 - whatcha gonna do?

The 'New-you Face Change?', Score some ZZIZ?, Get Ugly?

I think I owe it to the 11yr old Exile that nailed a piece of 4 by 2 to his skatebord; to skysurf.

What's up Meggas?

General / The most Zarjaz of the Zarjaz

In it's 30-odd years (very odd!) 2000AD has certainly seen some of the very best comic art there has ever been. We can all agree on that. What's your favourite one episode, 4 or 5 pages of 2000AD art?

I don't want to start arguments - I'd like maybe to be reminded, or maybe re-educated by your opinions. Are there some half-forgotten classics? It's a celebration! I'll go with these :

Mike McMahon - Slaine - Sky Chariots part 6.
Brian Bolland - Judge Death Lives part 3
Ian Gibson - Halo Jones Book 3, part 14- Breakfast in the Ruins
Kevin - Nemesis Book 3 Danse Macabre (?) - it's Prog 337
Ron Smith - Blood of Satanus part 3.

But I think for me, if I had to choose just one perfect example, it would have to be Mike with "The Return of Rico" - prog 30. That is just beautiful.

What's your's? - send me searching back through my collection - go on, give me an excuse!

(Grud on a greenie! Just realised I didn't include Carloss!)

General / Your first Prog - which & why?
26 November, 2010, 12:20:13 AM
Which was the first Prog you bought & got you into 2000AD & why?

Back in the mists of time, September 1983 to be exact, I used to get The Eagle each week, but had just moved up into secondary school - a new friend showed me Prog 335 - I was instantly hooked, but I continued getting The Eagle & we used to swap issues.

But then came "The Killing" , "Sector House 9" & "Dragonheist" - once Strontium Dog "Outlaw" started, I decided that I just couldn't wait for him to finish his copy & had to place a regular order with my local thrill-merchant. That was Prog 368.

Tharg bless that friend!

When I was a kid, the name of the dentist we used to visit - emblazoned upon a bronze plate on the door - was J.D.Read.

Obviously, I found this endlessly entertaining & also quite fitting.

Just thought I'd share.

I can't believe that I've reached one hundred posts & I'm still not ignored by one single member of this board. To this end, I issue the following statement -

You're all a terrible bunch of cunts, now fuck off.

She's about to bust Judge Death for smashing up Walter at the Resyk! Classic.

(Me, I'm about to take Herbie Ganz down for smoking at the Shuggy Hall)
