Thanks for that and welcome back, juulsgaard. Even the way the art design's swiped Jan Shepherd's brilliant Dredd typeface for the Dommeren logo gives me a kick.

There's something really superficially appealing about experiencing something you're (over) familiar with rendered strange and exotic by translation (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrZQk03uKsQ), so I'd be interested in reading Emperor's wiki round-up of all those foreign reprints that provoked Wagner's campaign for creator royalties.

I'd agree with achosenrider's choice of essential reading and SBT's assertion that Wilderlands represented the end of something- I'm not sure I'd want to read it again, though.

I'm enjoying the album and the idea that this might have been the Dredd soundtrack is tantalising. I'd recommend listening to it on a nighttime drive through the city; there are parts of Glasgow, the elevated section of the Clydeside Expressway that passes the construction work around the SECC, where the city already does a passable impression of the nascent MC1 we see in Origins and Al's Baby.

Apparently, Drokk functions as an alternative soundtrack for the 1995 film too, in the same way Dark Side of the Moon synchs-up with The Wizard of Oz- anyone tried it yet?

I don't think anyone should feel too bad about being trade-only, since they represent a greater margin of clear profit for creators and publishers.

How TPB's would emerge if the prog wasn't there to publish them in the first instance makes that approach a more difficult circle to square, though.

The Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks. These are the only books one of the guys at my work has ever read and he's desperate to talk about them with someone else. They contain every fantasy cliché I can think of and the prose is full-on Jeffrey Archer-he wiped his nose with all the assurance of a man who'd fought his way up from the wrong side of the tracks and adjusted his hat as if to say "yes, I was educated at Oxford, gaining a double first"- awful.

650 pages of that shite in the first book alone, but I don't want to dampen my neeghbur's enthusiasm for reading by telling him the whole truth. So far in our discussions, I've managed to stick to ambiguous banalities like he keeps things moving along, doesn't he and I can't believe they killed him!, but I don't know if that'll suffice for another two or three thousand pages.

Some of you are critics of one kind or another; how do I talk about this pile of wank without hurting his feelings? And how do I discourage him from taking up any more of my reading time with his next discovery? I'd thought about giving him some Umberto Eco or James Joyce to plough through ...

I was determined to eschew The Prog and buy individual collected editions instead, but I miss the anticipation of the comic dropping through the letterbox and the seratonin hit of my weekly read.

During the long School Summer holidays, I used to read and re-read each issue of 2000ad with such intensity that some of my earliest progs have been worn away to grubby, staple-less rags. The launch of The Megazine coincided with my first job, and I pretended to clean out the stores every other Thursday so I could have a marathon reading session of both titles as soon as they arrived.

I'm looking forward to having the grind of my working week alleviated and delineated by the mounting expectation and rosy afterglow of 2000ad's (re)appearance in my life. I'll enjoy having a Summer of Chaos, but I wish I'd given in and rejoined at the start of Wagner's latest epic; that's one Trade I'll definitely still have to buy.
