News / Re: Steve Dillon 1962-2016
25 October, 2016, 12:27:09 AM
Gutted to hear the sad news, first Brett and now Steve. The main pull in my youth was always towards 2000ad and the incredible artists and storytelling. Highlight was the early 80's when Steve just 19 was drawing block mania in esteemed company that was McMahon & Bolland. Artwork that stood up with the best.
I was hooked, 2000ad then led to titles Such as Warrior and Deadline. My love of comics and art started then, mainly as a result of Steve's brilliantly clean line work and dynamic narrative. So many great memories. Thanks Steve, god bless and condolences to your family.

I went to the con at the weekend - first time for me and never though to check the Forum's to see who else was going.

doh!!!

Good to see so many folk there and great to meet some of the creators. Took the wife down and left her in Edinburgh on the Saturday, while I managed to play in my sandbox for a while. Didn't meet anyone for a beer as I was driving practically the whole weekend, but if I'm free next year then that will definitely be on the cards.

Very impressed with Judge Burns costume- there were some admiring glances at Weatherspoons, Saturday Lunchtime when his posse and he arrived for refreshment.

A good chat with John Higgins too, he exclusively revealed some more on his upcoming project at the artists panel discussion on Sunday.

Great weekend and hope to top it next year

Took my wife along to a screening late Friday night - she thought I was on something, I was grinning from ear to ear from the opening credits to the end.
Great, concise, adaptation which stay's true to source, congratulations to all involved, well worth the admission
Lets hope the film can recoup enough to produce sequels as 35 years of Dredd's world and the characters therein would be amazing to watch if handled in the same esteemed way as this "reboot" has.

I've sold some stuff to New Zealand before - again check the price with the PO and email the seller advising him of the difference - if any. Amend the posting and packing prior to invoicing the buyer. If the buyer pays before you have time to invoice then it's best to request the difference through paypal before sending the goods.

I was thinking of going to a professional print shop - don't know what the prices would be though. Artwork certainly looks genuine - The ezquerra artwork has lettering pasted - some of it has been moved ( the Apocalypse war Pt 14 heading). I don't know if this was done for re- scanning for a graphic novel collection or not. The irving piece is felt tip on board no lettering on this as it was front cover art

I've purchased some original 2000ad artwork over the past few years, directly from artists or on ebay. I believe that the pieces bought from some of the artists are original as I have signed confirmation's that it is their work...but..there are a couple of pieces in particular I suspect could be scammed artwork and am interested in your views on both of these items. One is an apocalypse war double spread by Ezquerra and the other is a black and white Judge Death 2000ad cover by Frazer Irving. Any relevant info on any of this or related original toothy artwork would be much appreciated. Cheers

I actually posted this about 4 years ago...meant to come back and check reply threads but got sidetracked somewhat. Again if any of you guys can help it would be appreciated. I can scan some of the artwork at home but I'd need to get the professionals to do the bigger stuff...any recommendations. Cheers Mac W
