Actually, there's this movement of girls who read comics as this kind of feminist statement. They tend to be scarily well-informed, and about ten times as cool as their geeky male counterparts.

I accompanied by Bro to a comics con this year, and found that while I was the best-dressed guy there (not saying much) :), the girls were, like, about ten times as cool. No, really, they were. I felt glad I had a wife to go back to, and didn't have to drool along with the other geeks :)
