The Adventurer

I didn't see 'diminishing' I saw 'ramp-up/set-up', and then no pay off. That last story was there to give Luke all the tools he needed to deal with whatever crisis came next. But we clearly never got that story.

THIS SPACE INTENTIONALLY LEFT BLANK

Woolly

Yeah, there's definately no diminishing returns with Luke Kirby.
It's all set up.

I would also argue that both 'The Night Stalker' and 'The Old Straight Track' both top 'Summer Magic' as Kirby thrills.

Fungus

I see that publication schedule and see only Faceache. Good choice, Rebellion.

Bear Alley reports that "Ant Wars" (with "Zancudo") will be reprinted in February 2018, with "M.A.C.H. 1" following in March 2018.  See the entry for 15th July.

Is Zancudo any good.As I've said here before I'm a big fan of Ant Wars (there has to be someone) but have it already but would get this for Zancudo if it looks good?

I loved Zancudo, but was perhaps in a minority. If you like Si Spurrier and/or black-and-white Cam Kennedy artwork, you'll find a lot to like.

Seconded.
Fast paced script from Si Spurrier and some lovely work from Cam Kennedy's 2nd Renaissance for the House of Tharg.

Bloody hell I know this is from my Meg wilderness years but with a creative line up like that how come I only have a scant awareness of this?!?

Consider this bought.

13 Jul 2017 - Absalom: Under a False Flag
If you'd told me I'd end up buying this I wouldn't have believed you but the 1/3rd off Vol. 1 sale last week was enough to tempt me to order both Absalom volumes (+ Droid Life) from the webshop. 'Twas Trevallion's art wot swung it.

Don't really know what you're getting at. You're talking almost as though Absolom was an acknowledged bad strip or something...? Or are you just not a fan?

Summer Magic was an outstanding piece of work; writer and artist working together perfectly to create a truly unique and original 2000ad story.

As Alan McKenzie points out, John Ridgway isn't a creator. McKenzie did all the hard work - thinking up the character's name, age and height - while all Ridgway did was follow McKenzie's instructions.

Like a bricklayer following an architect's plan.

Of course, all McKenzie did was write the story. It was editor Richard Burton who told McKenzie 'yes, please write a story, Alan', and therefore clearly deserves sole creator credit. The rest was just typing.

Does anybody know if Rebellion are planning on reprinting anything from Battle or Action? I got the One Eyed Jack reprint but it only covers the run in Valiant and not the stories from the merger wth Battle. I know Titan own the rights but they are pretty slow when it comes to reprints. Johnny Red book 4 took ages to come out.

Oh, no, not dissing Absalom or anything like that. It's one of the strips (cf. the 'Not sure if it's me or the prog...' thread) that I tend to skim read each week and like for what it is but due to the gaps between series couldn't really tell you what happened previously, so my knowledge of the plot is kind of patchy, which only enforces the 'skim reading' habit.

Normally I wouldn't consider buying the Absalom trades, which would improve the ability to 'catch-up' when a new series starts, because I have the back progs (if I could be arsed to go back and read them), hence my comment. Contrast this with the trades for Jaegir, Lawless & Deadworld/Tainted which are definite buys for me because they're strips that 'grabbed' me when I read the Prog/Meg. That was the only point I was making (to myself as much as anyone).  :)

Yes we are. Rebellion own the rights now.
