There was a terror tale involving a young man who makes a packed with a demon to give him confidence and charisma to become a successful republican politician. The demon in return asks for five years of his life, with a terrifying twist at the end. What was the name of the story?

It wasn't entirely straightforward but the gist of it was that the demon had given him charisma and the power of oratory in exchange for five years off the end of his life... [spoiler]He just didn't say which end.[/spoiler]
