Doctor Who: The Comic Strip Adaptations will be released in March 2019 comprising of:
1. Doctor Who and the Iron Legion adapted by Alan Barnes
2. Doctor Who and the Star Beast adapted by Alan Barnes
In these two adventures, we find the Fourth Doctor travelling with his famed elongated technicolour scarf for company. He'll encounter the Iron Legion, an army of robotic Roman legionnaires, and in Doctor Who and the Star Beast, the Fourth Doctor encounters one of the deadliest and most adorable villains ever – Beep the Meep!
Nicholas Briggs, director of the Fourth Doctor audio adventures, explains: "These Fourth Doctor comic strip adaptations have a whole different feel to them. It's like they're from a parallel universe vision of Doctor Who. Tom Baker spotted it straight away, emailing me the moment he'd read The Iron Legion, commenting that this was 'a bit DIFFERENT' – actually typing 'different' in capitals! But he rose manfully to the challenge and entered into the spirit of it all wonderfully. And that spirit is that they are, essentially, wackier.
"There's a feeling of 'we could do anything because there are no budget restrictions' in the original comic strips, and our adaptor, Alan Barnes, has captured this perfectly. Crazy characters, extravagant action sequences. And Alistair Lock has done a superb job with his sound design and music.
"The Star Beast has a slightly different feel. The alien monster craziness is contrasted sharply with a dash of kitchen sink drama and a touch of Grange Hill, which predated the TV series exploring more domestic settings. It's interesting how the brilliant comics writer of these strips, Pat Mills, kind of anticipated this. Alan has a great love for Pat's work, and he was absolutely the right fit to adapt these beautiful, bonkers adventures of an extra-eccentric Fourth Doctor."
These two epic stories will be released in March 2019 as a 5-disc CD box set for £23 or on download at £20 from www.bigfinish.com.

I see everyone here is so enthused by the Moffat Era that you've all been unable to contain your excitement at its return.

For now, all I will say about the first episode is...Movellans.

So now that I have a handful of professional and small press publications to my name (Horror Writer's Association anthologies, Flash Fiction Press etc), I thought it about time I had a shot at writing a Future Shock, with the aim of submitting if I ever felt I'd gotten to a high enough standard.

Therefore I'd appreciate any, positive and negative, comments on this attempt at a first page. Bearing in mind I'm still writing the rest of the script, this is un-edited at present, so won't be up to standards, but any comments would be welcome none the less.


Page One:
Four panels. First and fourth panels should be horizontal and stretch across the page, with the other two panels in between the two.

1. A horizontal shot, though quite tight and fairly shallow. Essentially this is a scene-setting close up, including titles. This panel should be from the point of view of someone looking up at the face of a vast Gothic cathedral, the angle giving the impression that the cathedral is looming over us, with one of it's double doors opening onto darkness. What horizon we can see behind the cathedral should be almost entirely black, with a few irregularly shaped points of light. We should not be able to see the ground at this point, so some of the cathedral should be lost towards the bottom of the panel.

Box:   I don't stand a chance. I'm guilty...

2. Interior of the cathedral, looking down from a high up corner of the ceiling, as though we were seeing from the angle of a security camera. Beneath us we see the congregation, who are filling every last space on the dozens of pews which fill the floorspace, a length of carpet separating the pews into two sections. Towards the top left corner of the panel we can see sections of the Cathedral's windows, which should appear entirely black, with not a hint of stain glass.

Box:    They know it, and so do I. The trial has been for show, nothing more.

3. Close up shot of Becka. She is down on her knees, her face, partly obscured by her dreadlocks, cast down towards the floor. She is bound at the wrists with chains, which lead off both sides of the panel, suggesting guards holding onto each end. Behind her can be seen the front sections of the congregation, who appear to be jeering and heckling Becka.

Judge Priest (off panel):      Becka Vine, you have been found guilty of the crime of blasphemy...

4. Horizontal shot, again tight and shallow. This should be an almost mirror image of the first panel, with the Judge Priest, in traditional wig and dog collar - though his eyes should be completely black-, taking the place of the cathedral. This is from Becka's point of view, so the judge should appear to be gazing down at her from atop the looming dock. While his dark eyes appear impassive, his mouth is set into a determined snarl, revealing crooked and irregular teeth.

Judge Priest:   ...by way of denying that the great and worshipful void is the totality of existence, and for your heretical belief that humanity was not always required to light it's own path through the purity of the great night. I therefore sentence you to life aboard a Torch Ship.

For various reasons (space, financial, personal upheavals) it's been a few years since I bought 2000AD regularly. I'm still a big fan of course, dipping into the meg every now and then, and still buying trades, but regular proggage has been absent for the last few years. One thing I'm really sad at having missed are the recent Deadworld strips (Dreams..., Tainted), which look almost tailor made for my tastes. Is it likely that these strips may get bundled together into a trade? If so I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

Just wanted to start a thread to give my personal thanks to the members of this forum.

Sure there's disagreements between members from time to time, but for the most part this is a very supporting place, with members showing genuine concern for one another when times are hard. The fact people feel so able to share their problems on this forum speaks volumes about the calibre of the posters here.

If you read the black dog thread, then you'll know that I have recently come out as Transgender (non-op and currently awaiting my first appointment for my referral to the Gender Identity Clinic), and I'm happy to report that I've received nothing but support from the forum members here. Thank you to you all for making this feel such a secure space, for me and for others (and for proving that not all people on the internet are horrible. )

In the thread I started about the strip Vanguard a few people mentioned that it was in their very first prog, so I thought it would be interesting to see what the complete lineup of strips was in peoples first ever prog.

I've never head of this strip and the fact that the only story was titled "Book One" would suggest it wasn't a success. So, what was it about and why only one book?

Just wondering why Vector 13 has never been collected in a trade paperback.

I've never read it but it seemed to run for quite a while. Is there a reason why it can't be collected?

It's seems to be quite hard to get a hold of now, but it sounds interesting.

I was looking through my Prog pile yesterday and noticed we haven't had any Dandridge since the one off story he had in Prog 2012. Does anyone know if there's anymore Dandridge strips on the way? I certainly hope there is.

A huge thank you to all of you who have viewed the blog, which has just reached the milestone of 5000 views. When I first started this blog last year I didn't think anyone would be even remotely interested in my ramblings or my opinions, and indeed the first few months were a struggle. But eventually the blog took off and I'm delighted that so many of you have (hopefully) enjoyed reading my reviews. Special thanks to Eamonn Clarke for his excellent medical reviews and also to the guys over at the Everything Comes Back To 2000AD blog who have helped publicise Brit Cit Reviews from time to time, and have given me a steady supply of new readers. Looking through the forum I noticed a thread which announced the Tomes of the Dead book Stronghold was to be made into a movie. Is this movie still happening as I've never heard anything else about it?

The forgotten thrills will be taking a look at the less well remembered strips from 2000ADs past. Im hoping it will be a semi regular series but obviously my knowledge of 2000ADs past isn't exhaustive, so I would love to recieve submissions from others on the board. I'm looking for articles about strips that were one offs, or had a short run in either the Prog or the Megazine, that you feel should be remembered, and why you feel they are worth reading. With a second Savage trade on the way I was wondering if there was any chance of Taking Liberties getting a reprint as I can't seem to find a copy anywhere.

Well I've decided to start my own blog reviewing anything and everything from 2000AD.

I have never ran a blog before and so any feedback (positive or negative) would be welcomed. Theres a couple of reviews on there now and I hope to start reviewing the prog from prog 2012.

I've really missed the 2000ad review site since it closed down last year and thought its about time something else came along to take its place. I'd love to do something like this but have no idea how to create a website. Anyone think its a good idea to try and would anyone be willing to help?

Are there any plans for any more 86er strips of have we seen the last of Rafe.
