Post by: zombemybabynow on 18 June, 2009, 02:50:21 PM
From peoples post, over time i've kind of assumed what their characters might be like:-

House of usher: tres intelligent and scary.

quake: righteous dude

johnnystress: knows the score

the cosh: never letting the bastards grind him down

I do? but I don't even watch sports

thanks though :)

I always imagine House of Usher to be the gothest of the goths

and he lives in castle

with a pet raven

but i could be wrong

I always imagine both Cosh and Thryllseekyr to look exactly like their avatars! In fact, more than "imagine", I really, really want this to be true.

It's funny- in the short time I've been posting here of late (and the people from here I've absconded with over to Facebook) I feel a slightly worrying closeness to all of you. You're all top fellas and lasses, and I wouldn't have you any other way!

IIRC, Thryllseekyr's is actually a self-portrait! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I felt likewise about Cosh, and was gutted when he revealed that it's actually some (sporting?) hero of his, and not the chap himself.

I've always thought the same about Thryllseekyr.
TordelBack I have imagined to be very intelligent and well informed.
And the gothest of the goths has to be Mr. Campbell.

But not as intelligent as Garageman or Tordelback. Scarier than Tordelback, maybe, but not as scary as Garageman. I'm hardly scary at all. Which makes Tordelback a marshmallow. And Garageman at least as scary as Tangfastics.

Aha! Thanks to Barney I now realise who my avatar actually is. What a numbnut, I thought Frank looked a bit odd.

I tend to think of the vast majority of this boards members as decent comic reading people like myself and I'd be happy to talk shit over a beer with any of you.

TB and HoU do on occasion use words that I have to look up but I'm sure they mean well. Narf.

Herr Von Usher and I are actually so goth that the laws of physics prevent us from being in the same room, since our combined gothliness would create a shade of black so dark that it would suck not only the light but also the very life itself* from a surrounding area roughly the size of Kent.

You have been warned ...

He speaks the truth: I am as goth as that!* But I'm still not as goth as Jim, or Natalie Sandells, and I suspect nor even as goth as Steev, though he doesn't seem very goth to look at him.

Heh- I think I might be the number two- I'd have to check, but I can't seem to summon the enthusiasm- which is as it should be.

Anyway- I'm not goth at all, though I do wear a lot of black, but being number two makes me a big shit.

So, who's the most punk then? Is it a three-horse race between you, Stress and Rufus, or have I left someone out of the running?

Oh yeah: and Wils. He's quite goth too! Oops.

Stress is an ex-punk rockabilly now.

That makes it a two horse race between me and Rufus, unless anyone wants to throw their hat into the ring.

I play in an unsigned DIY punk band that no-one likes or cares about, and I hate pretty much everything- whereas Rufus is nice, so I reckon I've got it in the bag!

not sure about the avatar thing

but i have had the good fortune to meet one member of the board in person. Tankgrrl, whom i was tour giude for a day here in singapore.
shared bits and bobs by mail with others. all pleasurable experiences.

many have met at dreddcon and other events. SHEDDCON being something i wish i could have attended.

i would have thought, given our ways here, many of us may have been friends in differnt geographical circumstances.
that may not be true, but due to my nomadic nature, my view may be slightly differnt to others. meeting good people and finding common ground with them. goes with that lifestyle.

Just because someone posts on an online forum about comics or anything else it does not mean that they are or have to be ugly.

It certainly helps if they are though !

I always thought that the Kerrin avatar looked like a pisshead tramp until i realised it was Alec Trench.

I also have the impression that everyone on the board is pretty much themselves without any affectations.I do feel as if I know a lot of you quite well and think after a few gargles we'd all be having a good laugh/argument/falling out/splinter grouping just like online.

I've just read over this thread, and found this. Tch! I am mortally wounded sir! In fact, I'd say that was not only baldist, but gothist as well, and we won't have any of that kind of talk in this classroom. So baldist and gothist it was, in fact, that I am now undisposed to voting in any parliamentary elections. Or something like that.

I'll have you know that I categorically deny being goth in any way, shape or form. Which of course, automatically makes me the gothest person here, bar none. In fact, the opposite is true, and I celebrate it! I even colour my beard black and white so as to look like an upside-down Dave Vanian, circa the only decent song The Damned ever did.

So much gother than thou, I am, that both my children are named, multiple-times, after either actors or characters to do with the Dracula mythos. Their full names are composed of the following parts, but not in this order:

Vincent, Helsing, Bela, Bram, Price, Cushing.

And, as gothness goes, you cannot beat that, so don't even try!

Mwahahahaha! I go now to my underground cave, with my rat. castles and ravens are so emo.

I imagine House of Usher has two expressions: a near-constant "Well-I-Never" look of disdain for anyone he comes into contact with, followed shortly thereafter by his smug "I'm more intelligent than you are, and I know it" smirk.

Thryllseeker, judging by his second life thread, is a creepy-looking drunk guy with a really small head and big hands.

Respectable? Never! But yes, it's a more manageable length now. It's much more comfortable and much lower maintenance. I love it! It looks even less respectable after dolloping a lot of bleach on it yesterday. It's now about 6 different shades from straw through to brownish purple. It needs bleaching again in a month or so to make it blonder and more even. I'm dragging out the process so as not to introduce too much damage all at once.

Not really. More likely a very broad grin, unless I'm dealing with civil servants or local government officers, in which case an indignant frown is my default expression. When I meet thickheads who are passionately convinced of things that really aren't true (especially if it's to do with the theory and practice of psychiatry or alternative medicine), then it's an agonized look of persecution. If I think they are receptive to new intelligence then the look is more conciliatory, condescending and flirtatious all at the same time. 'Smirk' is a good description.

My other look I call 'Blue Steel.'

I will almost certainly be dyeing it some daft colour on the way back to normal once I've got tired of it being blond. How soon I tire of it being blond depends on how good a bleach job I can pull off! I've got some purple and some blue-black waiting in the bathroom cabinet for when the novelty wears off.

last time, I mixed together emerald green with sunshine yellow to get a really dayglo lime green- the colour of those awful socks you used to get.
Sickening. It even came out a bit streaky with some different greens- it was great.
Back to blonde for now, but the Electric-banana yellow beckons.
