I am not buying anymore of these fucking things.I bought 1 tube of these today as an impulse buy while waiting to pay at a petrol station.At the point i was paying i was curious wether or not there would be too many of the green type in the packet like last time i bought them which was the reason i stopped buying them as it happened over and over and over again as i just hate green fruit pastilles as they look and taste vile.

I worked with someone who would happily spend 30p on 'Smart Price' midget gems and then throw out the third of the packet that were liquorice, rather than spend 80p on a pack twice as big with no liquorice sweets.

Yeah, I was thinking early hive of some sort. But wondered if they may have carbon residue in there already. Then I read the article and it suggests that an array of things that I'd presume does that as well.

It appears to be a rare find by all accounts, but Livescience journal is mainly a bit of light reading and maybe it failed to check out sources.

My guess is that the holes weren't part of the original design and were added later for some purpose or other by somebody who wasn't too bothered about aesthetics.
