Yeah ta. Think those progs were around when i gave up - i used to be a massive Slaine fan but really went off it with the Robin Hood and Crusades plots. Oh, for the days of Fabry and Bisley, before that "eternal warrior" gumpf.

General / Thoughts on the latest artwork
09 February, 2002, 03:02:29 PM
With a different artist doing Shakara (i take it that is his name?) on the cover, could it be we're given some clues to the guy?
For instance, i never really spotted in the Flint artwork that his mouth is strapped shut. The red eyes look like lenses. His armour is very organic looking now. Whats with that SD badge looking thing on his chest? Looks like an eye to me.
Relevant or not? Time will tell.
Loved the artwork in the last 2 Megazine Dredds by Wayne Reynolds. Is this a new guy? He's got a real "American" feel to his work. More please.

General / Re: Painted art or inked art?......

Have to vote for the black and white too. Might have something to do with harking back to the good ol days when the only colour was on the cover?
Think colour can work well if done properly - as Paul said, inked work coloured in rather than splashing it all over the place. Case in point is some of Dermot Powers Dredd work (Book Of The Dead especially) which has nice, bold clearly defined artwork.
Favourite line work guy at the mo is Jock. Needs to do more.

Can't help i'm afraid but if you ever get either project off the ground i'd be interested.
On the subject of the old board game, i just bought one on eBay and all the nostalgia came flooding in - don't know why i got rid of my original copy.
One thing though - the one i've got has got coloured playing pieces a bit like chess pawns, just like i remember my original being. I'd previously been outbid on another copy of the game and in the photo on eBay the playing pieces were actually Judges. Anyone know whats the deal?

Yeah, played it when i was but a mere sproglet. Loath to look at it again in case the "memory cheats" rears its head.

Guess with the role playing games coming out there's going to be minatures to be bought - hope its a nice and diverse range, not just the usual obvious choices. I mean, there's been an awful lot of water under the bridge (across the big smelly?) since the Games Workshop ones.

My votes go to Charlize Theron as Anderson, Angelina Jolie as Hershey and reckon Tim Roth would make a great Lenny Zero.

They did come out?????????
Never saw them in the comic shops nor ads. Bugger, will have to delve deeper.
Wasn't there meant to be the ABC Warriors too?

General / Where are they?

As i said in my other missive, i've been away from the prog for a couple of years.
So excuse my ignorance as i ask: What happened to the second wave of 2000 AD action figures?

O.k, thanks for the info. One more - and crucial -question though.
Where is Brit Cit? I assume it's developed out from London but how far and in what direction? I'm interested in the area westwards from the capital.

Can anyone help out?
I'm writing a short story and need to know the state of England in the time of Dredd, the South especially.
I only came back to 2000 AD last year after a couple of years away.
Has Dredd blown any of it up in the interim?

It just feels like a watered down rip-off of Zenith.
Give me the original any day.
