Fans will be encouraged to participate by sharing their own personal memories of first encountering Dredd himself, or their favourite characters from his vast universe of stories using the hashtag #DAYOFDREDD

Comic book shops and libraries who send in evidence of their DAY OF DREDD displays will receive care-packages so good they should be illegal.

The most imaginative winner will be awarded DAY OF DREDD GOLDEN EAGLE certificate and receive a treasure trove of complimentary 2000 AD goodies including trade paperbacks, toys, and merchandising rarities.

How are Scottish boarders meant to bail out of an event that isn't happening?

Not much 'happening the other side of Offa's Dike either.  Mr Goddard fetching over to Bristol rather than Cardiff doesn't really augur well.

Exactly!  ;) Can I suggest we all agree to not turn up at the same place and at the same time?

Even the Mighty McNeil is south of the Rio Tweed...

Juiz Dredd DAY - A LEI Impera no LE Burger! (https://www.facebook.com/events/400907890784473/)

This may lose a little in translation...

LAW HAPPENS IN SAMPA! September 7th celebrates the birthday of the thickest guy in comics: Judge Dredd! When Pat Mills developed the 2000 AD series in 1976, he led his former writing partner, John Wagner, to develop the characters. Wagner had written several "hard cop" stories and suggested a character who took this concept to its logical extreme, imagining an ultra-violent law enforcement man patrolling a New York City in the future, with the power to administer justice instantly. . Mills had developed a horror strip called Judge Dread, but abandoned the idea. The name, however, with the spelling changed to "Dredd" at the suggestion of Gosnell Kelvin, sub-editor, was adopted by Wagner for the final character. So many names that have passed this 2000AD icon celebrate its creation. And Mythos Editora calls on our revolutionary readers for a meeting at Sampa do Futuro that will definitely declare TOTAL WAR!

If anyone in the West Midlands area missed out on getting prog 2146 with my cover on it the other week, they have it at Forbidden Planet in Wolverhampton where I'll be signing from 12-3pm. I'll be sketching and selling prints etc too.

Have a great day, Dreddheads!

The lack of events in Cal-hab has, I believe, less to do with the size/nature of the venues than the fact that over the years, almost without fail literally no one ever turns up.

I've done a couple of (non-Scottish) signings like that (which I'm sure will surprise no one) and it's soul-destroying. You're checking your watch every five minutes because every five minutes feels like an hour, and trying to mentally calculate the earliest point at which you can decently fuck the whole thing off and go to the pub.

Are we expecting big news? I though it was just a marketing push?

It's true,  the Grennie droid has had a right good rant about that, and with good reason over the years,
I think if we had the signings in a pub that might suit everyone better....

Forbidden Planet Glasgow are threatening to have regular signing events at their ginormous new store in Sauchiehall Street after it opens (projected October, I think), which would be the last chance saloon for Glasgow squaax to actually turn up for something.  (The all-time low: three of you, at a signing in A1 in Parnie Street a couple of years ago.)

State of play at the moment, though: the current Glasgow FP is too small and crowded, and FP Edinburgh just do not seem interested. Hence why the nearest Day of Dredd event is happening in Newcastle.

Any Irish boarders make it to Big Bang Comics this year?
Heard it was a well received event, unsurprising considering how well the place is run.

Couldn't make it unfortunately, and would have loved the chance to get (another) sketch from PJ or piece of original art from ol' Crosshatch Coveney.
