Tales From the Dark Multiverse: Knightfall is a really enjoyable read. It's based on the idea of what if Batman failed to take back the "Bat mantle" from Azrael.

John Carpenter's Joker: Year of the Villain is... interesting.

Adding an S&M kink to the Joker/Batman relationship just doesn't work for me. The idea that the Joker does what he does because it gets him off comes across as puerile rather than taking it to a dark new place.

Just finished Normal by Warren Ellis. It's a glorified short story - maybe 100 pages - with a locked room conundrum: what happened to the guy, locked in his room with no way in or out, and why has he been replaced by a swarm of insects?

Is it worth picking up?

Control. Overall I really enjoyed it but a lot of that is due to the story, atmosphere, style, world building etc. The gameplay mechanics on their own are a bit wonky at times but its worth it to immerse yourself in the game's world. You go from being a wee bit annoyed at the cover system to stopping to turn on a TV and being Creeped The F*** Out as two child puppets weep about their dead parents and then turn to look at you.

[God Hates Astronauts]

God Hates Astronauts. A funny, anarchic and messy (in a good way) mash up of superheroes, sci fi and whatever weird shit enters its creator Ryan Browne's head.

It kind of reminds me of Unbreakable in that come the end it feels like you've only really seen the first act of a much bigger and more interesting story.

I thought this many times during Observation but overall liked it a lot! It's just way too obtuse and disorientating for its own good at times, but there are things it does well that swung the needle into the positive for me personally. Not sure I'd play it again though, the thought of getting lost and confused again doesn't appeal much.

I really, really wanted to like it. I love the concept and all of the story-related stuff but the game itself just seems to be going out of its way to make everything as frustrating as possible. Being put in the positiion over and over of very slowly scanning (sometimes very large) areas until you find the bit you can interact with, no exterior maps, no way of highlighting what you can use, sometimes very vague instructions etc etc etc.

After 20 minutes of very slowly scanning the station's exterior bit by bit in search of damage I gave up.

Observation can go f*** itself.

The new Slipknot album is fantastic. The previous one left me cold but this one's brought me right back into the fold.
