I picked up the first year and so far am enjoying them. Some good Wagner/Rennie Dredd, TPO in its original form, enjoying Fraser's art on The Family and 'What if... Slaine/Finn was from India?' and Time Killer and Darkies Mob are good reprint.

I don't have the money to buy every year.
Are their any particular vintage years I should look out for?
Or good JD or other storylines?

2005's Megazines (227-239) are in the shop for, uh, $14.99 [not sure about the GBP price]. That's 1252 pages of thrill-power. In US-land that's the equivalent of getting the prog for 39 cents.
