There's a brief shot during the initial bike chase with the camera behind Dredd on his Lawmaster, as he weaves through traffic after the perps in the van. Just that 2 or 3 seconds are some of my favourite in the whole film, it's just so.. dynamic! Really drags you in to the world and the scene.
yeah i love this bit too,its the way he is leaning into the the turn but at the same time leaning away, that, and the way his body armour is all beat up,and the sound of the lawmasters engine, you just know your not going to escape in a mini van ;-)

Film Discussion / a chat with urban
02 February, 2013, 07:48:18 PM
hi guys,i am reletively new to these pages, and i imagine like a few newbies, joined up after seeing the film. so i apologise in advance if this has already been suggested, but i feel that mr urban should hear from us all how proud we are of his interpritation of dredd, via these boards or chat or ...well just something. i cant stop watching the bluray, and like most i suspect.am on tenderhooks in the hope of a sequel(doubtful i know but i can hope) i would love to be able to convey my thanks to him in person and hope you all would too, so if tharg can arrange something, lets all shout out  :D

Film Discussion / Re: headset makes the movie

im not sure if you need a ps3 as they will work with a laptop and can use a 3mm cable to use them with your smart phone.they use a usb dongle thing to transmit the signal, so technically speaking if tour bluray/dvd player has a usb port they may work. however i cant be sure on that. there are lots of different headsets out there, turtle beach do some good ones but according to a mate of mine the wireing is a bit flimsy. to be honest i only recommended the ps3 ones as i do have a ps3,but they do seem to be highly adaptable. if i can,i will find out. cheers

Film Discussion / headset makes the movie
29 January, 2013, 08:42:27 PM
hi guys, i just wanted to pass this on(to those that havent tried yet) but if you can, watch the movie with a decent surround or better still a decent headset, i recently bought the new sony playstation pulse headset,it has 7.1 virtual surround sound, a thing called base impact, that is sort of like a rumble pack for the head(dont have that turned up too much for the movie,or you may grow a tumour lol) they have 6 different settings for gaming movies, music etc and are wireless.
these relatively cheap headphones really do make the movie standout on the home ciniema front, i tried not wearing them to watch the film, but it really wasnt the same,i was almost like having 3d for the ears and made me feel as if i was watching events first hand.
do yourselves a big big favour guys and experience this fantastic film to the full extent it deserves ;-)

General / Re: sequel?

having been away from 2000ad for some years now i apologise if im factually off,but is judge armitige(sorry spelling) the british judge still around or did he bite the dust? i ask as regarding sequels, wouldnt the atlantic bridge and a view and story involving dredds british counter parts be a possible avenue? i always thought arma....arme.....you know who, was a cracking if under used character. and the black atlantic with its muties always stirred my imagination. just a thought ;-)

hi guys, wow, this topic certainly generates some interest, i felt i may have been a bit behind the times ;-) . i have read most of the posts here, and they seem to have gone from "no no chance of a sequel" to "green light" so am i to assume the dvd/blu ray sales are giving our dreams a fighting chance now?
regarding thoughts of a tv show, personally,i hope not, i find most tv shows always follow a very similar vien these days(maybe its coz im getting older lol) and it usually means things like the grittyness of the movie, get watered down, and then things start getting changed etc etc.so personally,i would prefer any efforts to be aimed at sequels rather than tv.
I have been chewing over the idea of the dark judges for a sequel, and have to admit,i really dont know if they would work in the world that carl has created for us, the movie mc1 is what i feel it would really be like in our grandchildrens futures, and bringing in extra dimensional characters, i feel wouldnt work, and would also catapult urbans dredd off in an uncomfortable direction.
However, the way i feel you could bring this plotline in, would be that,as stated by the cheif judge, the judges were losing the war on the streets.obviously resources would be in short supply and so on. so,what if the techies had been dabbling with dimenssion travel to find an alternate earth to move to,only to find dj and the boys, could that be a way of breaking the barrior between gritty realism and fantasy.
i really do hope there is more to come,i cant stop watching my bluray, it just seems to get better each time i watch it,even the "im wearing my dads helmet" seems to have disappeared for me now.i also feel there are some real nods towards blade runner in this movie, and the oh so subtle humour is great.
