The first series was just solid, fun, quality comics with a slightly retro feel. Honestly, whatever the theme, it's just a really good comic.

Seconded. It's weird to see universal creaming over Wagner's masterful storytelling in the prog review thread then head here and discover he and Alan Grant can't convince us* to send them 6 grand each.

*If this forum's automatically generated stats are to be believed*, 400-500 nerds look in here every day (even if only a dozen comment). If we and our mysteriously shy friends all forked out 20 quid, Dan Cornwell would be sharpening his pencil as we speak.

I see their is a digital option available as well. I just struggle to get behind the soccer theme (do not like the game at all)

Yep. John Wagner doing a Kickstarter should be a no-brainer, but... football. Even mickey-take sci-fi football. (And yeah, I read the first issue of Rok - it was good, very Doomlord, in fact, so I'm not doubting the quality.)

I would say the first issue of the first series is a bit finding its feet/setup - I'm not a football fan, and I was sceptical - I really enjoyed it though.

I've mentioned Doomlord too, it could be worth trying to find a way to get that lapsed Eagle reader market.

I'm still undecided what to go for?  do I want a GN of the first series. given I have the (signed!) comics? Maybe!

Done my part, gone for the digital one  :)
When I die, I want to die like my grandfather who died peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in his car.

Old age is the Lord's way of telling us to step aside for something new. Death's in case we didn't take the hint.

Good man. Wagner just announced the new shirt sponsors will be Laser Tools. Not sure if they make tools that are lasers or tools for making lasers, but feel I should support them anyway.

This board's own Steve Green helped Wagner & Cornwell put together a video to promote the Kickstarter. Dan's art has never looked better:

John Wagner and the Rok team have made a preview of the second original graphic novel available for free:

It's a fun and funny story that's much more like Hamlet (or Thor) with spaceships than Escape To Victory. I counted one mention of footie; the rest is split between an alien planet and two shrunken characters having hilarious Borrowers adventures.

Wagner and Cornwell have shared images of the shirt sponsorship and announced new tiers of the Kickstarter giving you - yes, YOU - the reader, the chance to feature as a character in the finished book.

Right now, the KS is in need of a boost - if you read this forum, there is very little cahnce you will not be delighted to support this project - there are 200 or so people there already - ask yourself why aren't you one of them, realise there is no good reason and sign up today!

This - just this.

You have ever right in ever OTHER circumstance to enact your freewill and do and spend your hard earned cash as you please. In this instance if you can you should ... or  you might make John Wagner cry... do you want to make John Wagner cry? Do you?

Bolt-01

It's not that he'll cry - it's that he'll 'know' if you don't back it. And you don't want to know what happens then...

Seriously - if you haven't backed - you are missing out. Tell your friends, tell it to everybody.

Greg M.

Let's see - should I finally get round to backing a project by the greatest comics-writer alive - a gentleman who has given me a decades of literary pleasure, and will, with this work, give me even more?

Well, that was an easier decision than I thought.
