Film & TV / Star Wars: Clone Wars intrigue / wavering
01 October, 2012, 10:55:21 AM
So I've just read that the new episode brings back Darth Maul, looking for revenge, with his missing lower body replaced with that of a kind of robot spider.

I've never had any interest in the Clone Wars before but a little bit scarily, this is exactly what I've been saying the films should done with the character since I saw the first prequel. It's not that I think it was particularly inventive of me to think of independently - Maul was cut clean horizontally in half in the film, cybernetic replacements are all over Star Wars and his face tattoos look sort of like a spider web pattern anyway - but now that they've done precisely this thing I thought I wanted I sort of feel that maybe I should start watching the Clone Wars now, because maybe there'll be other things in there that I like and possibly I might enjoy it?

Thing is it's five seasons deep now and, well, I really hated all the new films, and all the crappy character designs and shoddy worldbuilding and multicoloured lightsabers are likely going to be in there too. Can anyone tell me for reasonably certain it's worth or not worth bothering with?

Creative Common / PAP Anthology

I have decided that the one solitary thing that will make the world better is a black and white comics anthology the size of a modest phonebook, housing all the freaks of 21st century Uk comics. In something square. Without paying them for it.

I'll ask it then.

This week's prog includes a PAST IMPERFECT, for the first time in five years. A few months back there was a TIME TWISTER, a format previously thought buried in 1994. Both were written by known contributors to the JUDGE DREDD MEGAZINE: Alec Worley and Michael Carroll (Sprout) respectively.

Does this mean that PAST IMPERFECTS and TIME TWISTERS are again acceptable types of script submission for us wannabes to try as well as FUTURE SHOCKS and TERROR TALES?

Or will sending them to Tharg get on His Verdant Tits?   *hides under desk from probable Rigellian Hotshot*

Links / My new blog

This is my new blog, all about trying to write Future Shocks for 2000ad. That's the idea at least. My first posting is up today and it's basically a load of blather. If I know people are visiting it I should be shamed into keeping it up, and hopefully that will pressure me into actually working on some Future Shocks so that I have something to write about.

Essentially and eventually

a) you'll see an inspiring rags to riches story of a guy (me) realizing a cherished ambition or
b) you can watch me crash and burn on my arse.

How can you lose?
