...was wondering what the thinking was behind the reprinting of this strip? for a start it doesnt even fit the page, obviously because it comes from an American comic, but even so...

...strip as it appears on in the Megazine..http://i1.ebayimg.com/02/i/000/cb/9b/e5af_1.JPG">

...would it not look better with some of those boxes tidied up so they no longer look like page bleeds that no longer bleed of the page...http://i17.ebayimg.com/03/i/000/cb/9c/5901_1.JPG">

...or even just enlarge the printing and bleed it of the page for real? any thoughts???...http://i17.ebayimg.com/03/i/000/cb/9c/5901_1.JPG">

...must admit i love this old-school art by Ezquerra, reminds me of his Dredd work from some of the early 80's Dredd annuals...

...by the way it took me all of 2 mins to 'tidy-up' the art, so i was just wondering why this hasnt been done???  especially if they are changeing whole parts of it later in the series???...

Dark Jimbo

I have to agree that the strip's presentation made it feel a little 'cheap' - although that's in no way a slur on Ezquerra's art, it just felt a bit like a bad photcopy had snuck into the Meg.

Who was the copyrighted bounty hunter that had been altered?  And how?

Dark Jimbo

It didn't happen in this month's installment, PVS, but I think it's (or was, at any rate) Lobo.

"it took me all of 2 mins to 'tidy-up' the art, so i was just wondering why this hasnt been done"

Same reason why most manga isn't flipped horizontally - to keep costs down.  It was originally printed in colour, too, and guest-starred Lobo.

Satanist

So who could they have changed Lobo to?

A Bounty Hunter drawn by Carlos Ezquerra?

Hmm, Its gotta be Trapper Hag!

Or...
Hmm, just pretend I wrote something witty eh?

vzzbux

Didn't Ezquerra do some Boba Fett afew years back, could have easily been a Johnny Alpha strip.

I'm sure I have the Lobo version of this somewhere.

I was quite surprised to see it in this format, I didn't realise it was creator owned. I'll dig out the original series to compare Lobo with the new version!

bloodforthebaron

But there's already been a Lobo / Dredd teamup, how can copyright be an issue?

I would imagine it's because any crossovers are done for a specific publication, and then any reprints have to be renegotiated.

There have been several Batman/Dredd crossovers, but any reprints would mean that (if DC agreed to it) they would get a split of the money.

I doubt Rebellion wants to carve off a chunk of money to get the rights to use Lobo, I guess it's cheaper to get Carlos to redraw the relevant panels.

The Adventurer

I though Carlos and Co owned this? So really it's their way to retain the publishing rights without having the negotiate with DC every time they reprint.

Interesting that DC would let them do this to begin with though. I can't think of to many cases like it.
