Halfway through 2021 and still can't get my hands on a PS5 for love nor money.

Anyone know if pre-orders are available from any UK / ROI retailers?

I was lucky enough to get one thanks to following a restock account on Twitter.  There's a few accounts to choose from, but provided you are ready to go for it when the restocks are posted (it's like chum in the water) then you've got a decent chance.

I kinda have two. Prog 514 was the first Prog I bought with my own money. Steve Dillon cover, Cam on Dredd,  Bad Company and then...at the back...The Dead with some astounding weirdness from Milligan and Belardinelli. An odd Prog to start with, but most definitely enough to convince me to keep an eye out for it on the newsagent shelves with my pocket money. Pretty sure I only picked it up because some fluff like Mask was sold out.

And from earlier, as a wee nipper, digging out a comic from the comic box at infant school - I remember reading this weird comic that had people bouncing around in rubber balls in a big pinball building. It was only years later that I realised this was the Palais de Boing.

Dave was kind enough to take a chance on two of my scripts for Zarjaz and Dogbreath. My first published work.

I can't overemphasise how encouraging that was, and how much of a thrill it was to even be considered, let alone published. I think of all of those other people, all encouraged and enthused by him, from just the excitement of seeing their work in print for the first time, all the way up to finding a way to make it as a career.

That's a phenomenal legacy.

My deepest condolences to his friends and family, and all in the comics community who are feeling this loss so keenly.

One reference/joke I feel like I was completely missing, though - who are these cliff carvings meant to be? Tom Baker and Peter Davidson...?

Starsky and Hutch, I think...

Like minds!

I couldn't agree more regarding Zenith phase 3 - Yeowell is an exquisite draughtsman, precise and considered, but on Zenith, and, in particular, phase 3, there's real energy and drama in those pages, as he starts flinging blacks around, and roughening the edges.  I absolutely love it.

And at the risk of veering hipsterwards, I think I might just prefer The Black Hole over the Horned God (as a piece)...(though, this is not a position that might stand up to much argument...)

I read She-Devils again just yesterday - one of my favourite versions of MC-1 as a "real" place.  Grubby, neon and dangerous.  The colours are fantastic.

Off Topic / Re: challenge yourself!

For what it's worth, both a thread, and a subject, to kick me out of the shadows and contribute.

Good luck (and well done) to those trying to make a change with their fitness or their body shape or their health - I bounced around as overweight for years, despite being incredibly active, finding all kinds of excuses or reasons as to why I wasn't making any progress.

Everyone is different, but what worked for me was being forensic with my calories, understanding the difference between carbs, protein and fats, and adding a significant amount of weight training to my exercise.

I lost three stone, got down to a dangerously low weight (gaunt!), and was able to run for miles and miles and miles.  However, I went too far - since then, I've put another stone back on thanks to weight training, and have allowed myself to relax when I tick over my self-set calorie limit every now and again.  I'm now as healthy, and most importantly, as happy as I've ever been with my health.

So, in short, watch out for carbs, especially sneaky ones like booze and biscuits, don't cheat yourself (if it's been a bad day, log it anyway), don't beat yourself up if you go off piste every now and again, and don't get down-hearted if your gains slow down after that initial improvement.

Good news, Dossa - I have not had anything  :(

I'd like to think I've got sorted along with yourself, but I havent heard frm them for a week now - Tharg, if you are looking here, take pity on a poor Earthlet!  I'm already £6.20 down on buying two progs, let alone this weeks!

I had a similar problem, with email conversation just stopping. I've a sneaky suspicion that my mails either went to junk due to frequency, or they diverted to a particular member of CS, who may not have been available. So, I hurried things along by starting again via the web form, summing up what had been discussed previously. Got a quick reply and a positive conclusion (I hope...)

I think you are well within your rights to ask for a voucher along with replacement copies, and, from previous experience, I think you have a good chance of getting one.

By way of update - CS got back to me, and have (hopefully) sorted the problem.  Essentially, I had been "missed off the print lists" when my subscription renewed.  Sounds like a tick box error, but have been assured it's been resolved now, with the missing progs in transit.

Definitely worth a mail to CS if you're in a similar position, just to check if your renewal has been logged correctly.

That would be my guess - I have pointed the Customer Service people to this thread, so hopefully they will get back to me soon with the answer!

Likewise. It's a bit odd. Mob rule!

Well I am still 3 progs adrift, or at least I would be if I ahdnt picked them up from the Newsagents. I've asked for my Sub to be pushed on 2 weeks instead, in the hope that might fix the problem next year... however no response yet to my suggestion - any luck yourself Dossa?

Hmm.  Kinda. Received 2021 and 2022, but these were replacements sent by customer services. So, still haven't had a sniff of three progs in three successive weeks. Clearly not a postal problem, but some kind of picking error, I suppose?

I thought I'd just check the forum and see if it wasn't just me, and...it wasn't just me!

Same here - 2201 and 2202 haven't been received at all, and 2203 didn't turn up on Saturday either. Very odd to be late AT ALL and have never had two (maybe three) progs go missing. It also tied in with my subscription renewing per OP.

I contacted customer services who first asked me to wait ten working days (for 2201) and then was told 2201 and 2202 would be re-sent, which I've yet to receive.

I'm relieved, in a way, as a bigger problem tends to get sorted quicker but I do wish they would just own up if there's been a problem.

I can confirm the collection has been extended to 140.
!!!!!!!!

Well, last time they extended it was as simple as asking on Facebook to get the list, so...

A very good idea!  So, I asked, and they just sent the same list we've all seen, running up to 111.

So, I thought I'd ask...

This from their customer service, regarding a definitive announcement regarding the extension.  Emphasis my own.

"Thank you for your message.
I can confirm the collection has been extended to 140. There should be an email sent to confirm this. Please be assured you can cancel your subscription at issue 80 or 111 and will still have a complete spine artwork.
Thanks"

I agree. I made the initial point to them to "just read the replies to *any* post on social" and that's just from my perspective of following the 2000AD stuff. Can't imagine it's limited to just this collection either.

Anyway - this chap I spoke to seems on the ball, so can only hope the message is getting through. Like I kept saying - the product is excellent, once you actually get hold of it.

In their defence - or rather that of their CS provider - I think they are abundantly aware of the issue with the bin bags! He didn't commit but I got the impression this was understandably under review.
