Ok so in the film Bail Organa isn't royal, neither is Amidala any more! We have still to see Alderaan - perhaps theri system is going to be the same as on Naboo - royalty elexted hence why Leia is a Princess?

Really looking forward to seeing Episode III now
My wish list also includes
1) Death of Jar Jar
2) More Yoda similar to this one
3) No kids anywhere in it!
4) Seeing the Millennium Falcon being built or doing the Kessel Run
5) Big space battle
6) An ending that leaves you feeling as low if not lower than Empire Strikes Back - should be with the "Birth" of Vader, destruction of the Jedi, that we know of already but lets have much more - Vader killing Amidala, Mace Windu dying pointlessly...

Can't wait for 2005 - bet its late though!

Went to see it last night in a half empty cinema too!
This film is incredibly hard to review. IMHO I hated nearly every second of the first hour and would give it 0/10. After that it is IMHO one of if not the best star wars yet.

1)From Anakin killing the Tusken raiders on the film is one hell of a rollercoaster.
2) Anakin fighting with 2 lightsabers was superb
3) Yoda - Wow "Judge me by my size do you hmm?" Now that line makes  one hell of a lot more sense!
4) Vaders shadow!
5) Mace Windu rocks

Hmmm go away for a couple of months and nothing changes does it?

Have I missed much in my absence PVS?

Oh except 2000AD which IMHO is on one of the best runs ever at the moment! Dredd, Death, Sin Dex, 13, (not sure about Bec yet though)

Thread 878 - expensive collected editions as I already mentioned :)
There has to be potential for this to work - particularly with the return of many classic characters at the moment. Many new readers might want to see what the orignial series were like - or is there too great a risk that the new versions will seem extremely poor compared to the original like the recent Bad Company? VC's is looking good at the moment though!
Reprint (again) the VC's, Some of the Judge Death stuff that isn't in the current Titan books reprint, some classic Rogue Trooper, Strontium Dog featuring Johnny and Wulf and also throw in some material that hasn't been reprinted for donkey's years if ever like Shako, Invasion, etc.
Even if the title was quarterly instead of monthly because whole stories could be contained in it it wouldn't suffer from the Megs problems of being just too big a gap between issues. By the time next months is out I will have forgotten all about what happened in the revious one. And in the case of stories running over a year eg War Dog - by the time there is the big finish you can't remember much about the first episode.
Because it could be produced on "cheap" paper quality of reprint doesn't have to be a prime concen - I worry about that if I am shelling out over ?10 for Titan books and these new collected editions - which will cost a lot more and we have been told quality in some strips will be low.
This seems a more cost effective solution
But then I don't have the money to risk a magazine launch!
And I'm rambling

Me too, but I still like toread whole stories without searching through several copies of fraying 2000AD - although most of my collection is at my Parents house as I don't have space in mine.
I just used to love reading old strips - cheaply - all together. I agree Shako would make a great story. There is lots of material and it has been so long since it ran it wouldn't hurt to reprint reprinted black and white material. After all Rebellion have paid for 2000AD and its back catalogue. Apart from these seemingly very expensive collected editions of the very first issues what else are they going to do with it?

Best of 2000AD Monthly. I know the meg reprints stories but I miss the days when I could get a whole major story arc together for a reasonable price. Titan books are good but I find them a little pricey, and don't reprint much very often.

Please..pretty please bring it back - could be part of the anniversary celebrations - ther must be plenty of material that hasn't been reprinted for a long time or in the previous monthly that could make it worthwhile. Go on rebellion - give it a go.

I use Windows ME and Explorer 6.0 and cookie 1 - no problems at all. Not since I raised the issue of problems with the original cookie way back in October/November

Don't lnow why I seem to be different to others, I havn't adjusted settings in Explorer since it installed over version 5.

Prog / latest Prog

Cover - muddy, dull, boring, didn't make me want to read inside.. and its Atavar :(

Judge Dredd - really liked this yet another sequel to some old stories. Is Wagner clearing out what he thinks is unfinished business, or being lazy - use old ideas repeat until others hate them - however it works for me... continues next week

Attavar - a bit more explanation but after two issues I know about as much as I did about Shakara

Sinister Dexter - strange art here. The duo were in the background for this one. A slight change from the normal Sinister Dexter story of get contact, go kill, say Funt a lot, kill, end.

Dante - like this a lot at the moment. Lots of development. Ocean's Eleven anyone?

Terror tales - predictable filler. I see it has a vote so far of around 5 but really didn't like this. Art was nice though but just didn't like the story. Come on peeps - vote lower!

Overall an average prog with a very good Dredd - I guess others will disagree with me but I like these morons. They make me feel clever!

General / New case in court
10 March, 2002, 10:51:15 PM
The last case seems to have worn itself out to a close. Judge PVS with repect I would like to submit a new case for the enjoyment of the court.
Many of us refer to "classic" 2000AD. But what stories are deserving of such a title? We now have a list of the stories that no-one will defend. What a bout a list of stories most of us like but is there anyone out ther who didn't like them? Is anyone prepared to say "I didn't like the Apocoalypse War because..." etc?

The first stage of this second case is to nominate the stories you think are "classic" deserving 10/10 on the voting forms. Then to condemn the se stories to not being classics other people need only say they don't like them even better if there is an explanation.

My suggested classics are:-

Necropolis
Mechanismo
Song of the Surfer
Apocalypse War
Bad Company I and II
The Ballad of Halo Jones I, II & III
Strontium Dog - The Ragnarok Job, Rage

What else?
