Topics - O Lucky Stevie!

Comics arrive here in Auxtralia on a Thursday. So due to stevie's work roster he's more often than not in-store when the Adelaide Comics Centre unpack their shipment.

Today they received from Diamond, in what seems to be the continuing trend for 2011, a single copy each of:

Meg 306
Greysuit: Project Monarch

At this stage they're still awaiting the balance of their order (ie more than one copy) for:

December Prog 2010 pack
Chopper: Earth, Wind & Fire
The Complete Bad Company

Prog 2011 shipped fine, & the balance of Leviathan arrived the following week.

We've not seen a copy at all of the S&S edition of Zombie. Has this been cancelled?

What's everyone else waiting for Rebellion-wise from Diamond?

Anyone spotted this S&S edition (not the Rebellion) in a comic shop yet?

Books & Comics / Stephen Baxter's Xeelee omnibus
03 May, 2010, 04:37:02 AM
Scheduled release date for the hardcover edition of Stephen Baxter's Xeelee omnibuswas 18 march 2010.

Anyone spotted a physical copy of this?

Stevie pre-ordered his copy back in October last year which is still listed as "awaiting publication."

I've written the online retailer querying this. They replied,

"I'm very sorry it appears publication of this hardback may have been delayed or cancelled, we do have a paperback available for this title through"

A quick googling shows other retailers still taking orders sith others listing it as being, "No longer available."

Cheers!

I buy all my GNs from the Bookdepository, (occassionally play.com if they are cheaper). They usually are cheaper that amazon but their descriptions are crap, if your not sure get  the details from amazon and order from the bookdepository. Never had any problem.

David

Hey David,

Stevie went on a bit a spree at Bookdepository filling gaps & has just received 5 trades with bent & broken spines.

Would you are any other boarders know what they like with customer service issues?

The hardcovers & Ace Trucking vol.2 that were each packed in cardboard & are fine, but all my trades came individually packaged in padded Mail Lites which didn't survive the journey too well.

I'm going to give another day for the rest of my order to arrive before politely filling out their online contact form, so if anyone would like to share their experiences in the meantime that would be appreciated.

well, megazine 201 appears first on the page, so i'll tell you about that for the moment.

"the biggest & best megazine yet--" trumpets previews, "100 pages of entirely new material, plus a 48-page supplement containing the complete vampires-at-war-classic, 'fiends of the eastern front'--plus a huge double-sided poster & wall planner!"

wot, run out of space spinners, alan? (oh, & are you still wearing your biotronic stickers, logan?)

inside the megazine itself there's "a complete 20-page dredd thriller from legendary creators john wagner & carlos ezquerra; vampire adventure devlin waugh returns in red tide [hooray!] by john smith & colin macneil; 'the family' by rob williams & simon fraser; & 'bad karma' by pat mills & simon davis."

Off Topic / milligan & bond wet my knickers!
24 August, 2002, 08:37:25 PM
from the november 2002 previews:

VERTIGO POP!: LONDON

Rocky Lamont — rock 'n' roll legend — has seen it all.  Fame, fortune, a virtual harem of adoring groupies, mind-
bending drugs...  But now, after nearly forty years at the forefront of pop royalty, Rocky has turned 60 and his youth is gone.
Or is it?

Get ready for the latest VERTIGO series to touch upon world pop culture, VERTIGO POP!: LONDON — a 4-issue
miniseries brought to you by two popular Brits of the comics world, writer Peter Milligan (HUMAN TARGET: FINAL CUT,
X-Force) and artist Philip Bond (ANGEL & THE APE, KILL YOUR BOYFRIEND).  When a long-forgotten gift from an
Eastern guru may hold the key to restoring Rocky's vigor, the rock star leaps at the chance.  But at what unholy price?  And
what does all of this mean for a handsome but talentless young street-singer?

Truly a man out of time, Rocky is an aging relic of an era when rock was a celebration of youth, and now he is at odds
with the music of the disenfranchised contemporary youth scene.  The people surrounding him only serve as constant
reminders of the youth that has slipped away from him: the former "white witch" ex-wife who now hates his guts, a bodacious
and whip-smart young trophy wife with a lot more on the ball than anyone realizes, his randy privileged daughter, and a drug-
addicted would-be "next big thing in rock" all figure into Rocky's quest for restored vitality and the shocking means by which
he intends to achieve his wish.

LONDON takes the reader on a journey into the jaded world of rock 'n' roll's fading elder statesmen and the desperate,
ferocious attempt to hold on to what once was.  Youth and popularity may fade, but why go gracefully into that good night?

This project is supported with house ads.

VERTIGO POP!: LONDON is a 4-issue VERTIGO miniseries edited by Karen Berger and is suggested for mature
readers.  The 32-page issue #1 arrives in comic-book stores November 6 with a cover price of $2.95 U.S.
