I'll be picking this up next year for a 5 year old Beano fanatic.
And maybe a flick through myself too!

Any word on the creative teams?
Can we assume the ever excellent Lew Stringer will be involved?

He's definitely in the halloween spooktacular (as am I, I think)

Yes and yes.

Just an interesting question why choose Monster Fun and not something like Buster or Cor. I though both these titles where bigger.

Buster and Cor (as titles) are sort of meaningless to anyone below the age of 40, "Monster Fun" while both a throwback to an earlier title is ALSO a fairly good descriptor of what it is.

I have no insight here, but that seems an obvious answer to me.

Correct.

Hello folk.

So I have overplayed the last Green Lung album (fantastic as it is) and now I'm looking for some good rock suggestions (mainly fuzzy stoner bands). Got Asteroid, Atomic Bitchwax, F£&k the Fitzroy Doom Scene, Gorilla Pulp, Lowdrive, The Marlboro Men, Monstroid, Mothership, Nebula, Orange Goblin, Red Fang, Roadsaw, Solace, The Sword, Truckfighters, Unida and Conan already.

Any more suggestions? Ta.

Nope - that still doesn't make a lick of sense.

Well I saw the statue on liberty (ish)

What do YOU see?

I agree that you saw ish. I certainly don't see a statue of a woman holding up a torch.  And I'm still puzzled by the Britishness (or lack of) comments.

Don't get how they entrust brand new writers sometimes. The Dredger strip is dull, and Kids Rule OK shold have been way more british, although the writer at least has form.

More British how? It is set in London.

Lets just say when you see the ending it sucks any Britishness out of it. The whole strip doesn't feel British

Nope - that still doesn't make a lick of sense.

So much great material from the Odhams comics.  Perhaps a companion volume to the Ken Reid Faceache book with some of Leo Baxendale's work from Wham! and Smash!   And I recognise there is little hope of this, but it would be nice to see a reprint of the totally bonkers Brian's Brain strip from Smash!

I'm eager to read Brian's Brain.

It goes up to Max being (maybe) shut down and includes more Eagle material than the Hibernia collection.

Well have to say that was magnificent. I loved it all. Dredd, tick, Strontium Sprog Tick, Future Shock Tick Tick, Dr and Quinch Tick. But its the puzzle pages and extra bits in the middle that are the real boon of this comic. Well all the extra stuff from Joko-Jargo replacing Green bounce, to Intestinauts (if a little cramped on the page). The absolute highlight was the glory that was Chet Jetstream - Escape Hell Island, just brilliant, absolutely, makes me miss Zombo something rotten!

Anyway what was particularly interesting is being a big fan of the Phoenix how this underlined what 2000ad offers that's so much more. I mean I do love the Phoenix, more importantly my kids love the Phoenix, but it is all just a little safe and middle class. This had the same vibe, the same clean art, the same packed fun, but of course it had that 2000ad edge, that sense of anarchy and irreverance. The almight mischief in its twinkling eye.

Christ alive I wish this could be a regular thing!

Fantastic experiment Tharg and well done for making such a wonderous product, which stands out a mile on FCBD.

Thanks for such a positive review Colin. hopefully, this will lead to more of the same.

That part is obvious.I was trying to say they seem open to weird crossovers.

Quite - and that's because of the obvious.

Considering that in recent years we saw JL/Power Rangers and Green Lantern/Planet of the apes,I dont think a 2000ad crossover would be a problem.

Power Rangers and POTA of considerably larger presences in the US than 2000 AD. There's the rub.

Not DC, but will there ever be a Punisher/Dredd crossover?

If I understand correctly, Wagner / Grant pitched a Dredd Vs Wolverine comic to Marvel, and the response was along the lines of "You went to DC first, so bog off!"

First time I've heard that - not sure if it is gospel. I had a brief meeting with Axel Alonso about five years ago to discuss the possibility of a Dredd v Punisher crossover. He liked the idea, but the bottom line is that Marvel and DC have enough going on with their own huge universes...

Quote18/10/2018 9781781086537 The 13th Floor (paperback, £14.99)

I wish this was hardback, but: OH YES!

The price and lack of "Vol. 1" makes me wonder how complete this will be. The collections we put out a while back barely touched the Eagle strips and came to around 120 pages or so all in, IIRC. Considering the Thirteenth Floor ran to some 400 pages in Eagle alone, plus the Scream! strips, I can't see how this can collect everything. I'd be really disappointed if this wasn't just a first book collecting the Scream! strip and the the wrap-up portion of the Eagle run, with at least one or two more books collecting the rest of the Eagle stories. Yeah, they get a bt silly later on, but it would be a shame to miss the opportunity.

This is a book one, collecting up to the end of Max's tenure at Maxwell Towers. There will be more volumes in the future.
