Finally got a new copy of Action Park by Shellac. Nice.

SuperSurfer

I do like this track by Wolf Alice.

And the video gets full marks from me for showing the Captain Beefheart Safe as Milk album cover.

The Horrors finally come good, and make a record I like. Only took a decade. It's a pleasant bit of psychedelia/late eighties Goth, which means it sounds both perfect for the long Summer days ahead and as oddly incongruous as someone wearing a leather jacket and skinny black jeans in sweltering heat.

8-Ball

Since it's Britpop this and Britpop that at the moment here are a few tunes that I remember from that era (early/mid/late nineties) but are not necessarily Britpop. Maybe some are, who knows.

Strangelove - Beautiful Alone

GoldBlade - Strictly Hardcore

Catherine Wheel - Waydown

Kingmaker - Ten Years Asleep

* This was on the first album I ever bought - Now That's What I Call Music 25 in 1993.
Whatever happened to Rico, Dolman and Cadet Paris? I'm sooo out of the loop.

Thanks for posting this. I love Mastodon but it usually takes me a while to get used to and then enjoy their stuff when I first hear it. This is OK but I might like it better in time.

:O You've only just heard of Mastodon?!?! I envy the back-catalogue discovery you've got on your hands there sir. Take it slow and savour ever second - they kick some serious bottom.

I like that record, but it does sound a lot like In Utero. I'm pretty sure I've already posted this, but I just heard it again on the radio and it's immense. SKATERS are cool, smart, bored, and they're from New Yawk:

Well there is a connection that could explain that!

Also... new Judas Priest single...

Kind of snuck-up on me I had no idea.

They sound - pretty tired. Nostradamus has a lot to answer for.

First listen suggests a good tune but an unconvincing production - guitars a little quiet, a bit far back in the mix. Definitely more classically Priest than Nostradamus was. That said, I always worry whenever Glenn Tipton says he's deliberately trying to give people what they want - that was the sort of bandwagon-y thinking that got us Turbo and Jugulator. Just be yourselves, lads - which, admittedly, it sounds like they have.

Getting really into the new Brody Dalle solo album just now. My other half has always been a big Distillers/Spinnerette fan so I've heard a lot of her previous stuff and been to gigs and whatnot (and have always had a massive pin-up crush on Dalle, in a 'posters all over my walls when I was a youngster' sort of way) but this is actually the first time I've found myself actively spinning one of her albums myself in a big way. Lots of swagger, lots of hooks, love it.

Aye, gets the thumbs up from me too. Although, as with Courtney Love and Live Through This, it's obviously only good because her rock star husband wrote it all for her. Never mind boring old rock royalty, though - the world's gone mad for Tuba-step. No, seriously, someone really has made a tuba-led dance record. Honest, it's not a joke; just click on the link and you'll see it's true - thousands of kids will be getting off their faces this weekend to what sounds like someone making fake pumping noises out of the corner of their mouth.

You're laughing now, but you'll all be grateful when they sweep the Grammies next year and you're telling all your pals that you've been down with them since May of 2014. No shit, a TUBA.
