Books & Comics / Dane Dare Blow!
10 February, 2006, 04:06:37 PM
Downthetubes.net are reproting that the Dan Dare books have been put on hold whilst the publishers, Titan Books reassess the releases. Apparantly poor sales are to blame.

What a tragedy if this line is discontnued. Titan really have done these books proud, giving us glorious, HC colour releases. I just hope that a household name like Dan not selling, doesn't also indicate a similar decision is on the cards for the rest of the British comics they've been collecting (Charley's War, Steel Claw, The Spider, Modesty Blaise, James Bond, and any new ones they had planned).

Like I said, a real shame!  :(

Books & Comics / Scarlet Traces 2
24 March, 2005, 06:33:33 PM
Dark Horse comics are solicating the first issue of the 2nd series of the Edginton/D'Israeli series in the current Previews. Big questions are, will it be in the Meg/Tooth, do I buy the U.S. versions, or wait for a trade release??

News / DC To Publish Tooth Material
28 April, 2004, 11:47:37 PM
From Newsarama

This is very interesting and excellent news. I know a number of American and Canadian comic readers who would love to read stuff from 2000AD but have trouble getting the prog and the meg. I know that trades are available but they seem to have the same problem with those. Hoepfully the DC name will get the books on the shelves.

General / Zombie Fun!
22 December, 2003, 10:26:30 PM
Anyone else reading the 2 new(ish) U.S. zombie comics?

Lone
from Dark Horse Comics is very much something that would fit into The Prog! Basically it's a post apocalyptic western that features zombies and all kinds of mutated creatures. It's written by Stuart Moore and features some excellent European style art from Jerome Opena. Early days yet but an excellent 3rd issue has swung this for me!

The walking Dead
Don't let the fact that this is an Image comic put you off. This is a marvelous zombie book. Similar in tone to the Romero movies, tho idle reviews have compared it to 28 Days Later. Personally I think it's nothing like except for the operner where the lead character wakes in a hospital (an idea 28 Days Later can hardly be descibed as the originator of). It's written by Robert Kirkman and features superb black & white art from Tony Moore. You may have seen this sort of thing before but the way it's handled is excellent, concentrating on the survivors and how they face their new, horrific world, rather than the gore aspects (tho there is some).

General / Matal Hurlant # 1
08 August, 2002, 03:46:22 AM
Any of try this out this month. Almost a sister title to 'Tooth. Features some excellent sci-fi stuff from Jodorowsky (Metabarons/Incal) and a really good Werewolf story from Kurt Busiek, which I personally think to be the best thing he's dones in ages.
Y'know I'd like to see some of the Humanoids/Metal Hurlant stuff in the beyong 2000AD slot in the meg. The adult sci-fi stories and painted artwork would fit luvverly alongside the 'Tooth stuff.

General / The Latest Poll
20 June, 2002, 10:52:05 PM
I just seen the latest poll on the homepage. Should Rebellion mark all their envelopes with "Do Not Bend"? Hee Hee, Ha Ha, That's a good 'un that Heh Heh Heh. Y'see the thing is, I actually work for Consig (oops, nearly), erm Royal mail. I actually am one of the gits that sorts these things. Believe me, nothing short of armour plating would prevent yer Progs from getting damaged. Why'd ya think I don't subscribe. Between us Posties reading yer Progs, playing footie with yer packages, and generally slinging 'em acroos the room, I'm surprised they get though at all. Mind the standing order at my lcs ain't exactly pool proof either. Who thinks I'm kidding btw???
