I am getting a big Colin Wilson vibe off that winning page (in a good way of course). A cracking and well deserved winner. I look forward to seeing him / her in the Prog.
It would be great to see all the entries together to see how everyone interpreted the script.

Wow.  The standard of these is incredible, not just the winner!

There's some wonderful stuff here BUT I'm really looking forward to seeing Daniel Dwyer (he must never call himself Danny that would be just too close for comfort!) in the Prog.

Great effort with regards your entry Patrick.

I can see the eventual winner dipicted brilliant backgrounds, I too will look forward to viewing his remaining pages. I agree with the previous comments in that it would be nice to see all other efforts - so
Any other entrants want to show theirs wares ?

The standard is going to only get better each year so keep it is a case of digging in and riding the wave of improvement !

And while on the subject are there any competitions of a similar nature to this TB 2000ad comp ?

Watching the different approaches and styles was a real treat. Every one had merit but the winner was as near-as-dammit unanimous. Lovely work.

I think he was the Dusseldorfian (?) and I just thought 'Simon Coleby' when it appeared. Can't be bad.

Oddly BatKing came 'round me table - couldn't remember the winner for the life of him but showed me scans of "runner up" Daniel Dwyer's pages....

The lot of them are stunning - brilliant European-style art with a breathless energy to them. Got to say very taken with Aoste's work as well - nice Yeowellesque spacing there.

As I put a few hours in the pages I might as well add some rough work in the mix -
Page 2 pencils ... Before digital inking manipulation

Couple of other versions. Here's Robert Ahmed, another finalist (click for all four pages on his DeviantArt page)

And Paul Bolger, who was at the show but didn't submit his entry! Click for the whole thing on Behance.

Cheers for the share Patrick, I met Paul at the show - he was promoting his yarn, 'the hound' and out of all the indie work I saw (didn't see it all I must confess) his stood out. Regards his non entry His city scape on panel 2 ranges around 'optimum' in terms of how how good that particular panel could have been. An education in its own right!

Speaking of 2nd panels yours isn't too bad aoste ! It's my fave from all your offerings

This is a higher level of entries than we've ever had before.

Next year, make them fight...

Cheers!

Jim

Thought you didn't like that sort of thing?

Some wonderful art there, Did like the winners clear lines and white space, looking forward to seeing more.
