Classifieds / MC-1 Poster
12 August, 2005, 04:29:18 PM
I just renewed my sub (yay!) and received the very zarjaz free MC-1 poster.

BUT my lifestyle is not really poster-friendly, and I doubt that I'll be able to use it as Tharg intended.

So instead of putting it away in a cupboard, I thought I'd see if there's a non-subber out there who'd like it? I'll mail it in a reinforced envelope anywhere inside Saturn orbit.

Anyone?

Books & Comics / Space Kingsley...
25 April, 2005, 07:50:30 PM
... and the Secret Squadron.

Has anyone else ever read this? My dad had a Space Kinglsey annual from the 50s which I read in my teens, in which 'Space' and his heroic multicultural squadron roamed the galaxy evil (as far as I can recall), but I've never seen a mention of it since, and no sign of a ref on the web.

Does anyone know more?

General / Surely an ancestor

From the Guardian 2/12/04, reviewing Leroi's book Mutants:

'In London during the 1780s, Charles Byrne billed himself as "the Irish Giant". He was seven feet eight inches tall, with a jaw and chin so strong "that they must have given him a forbidding appearance in life."'http://img12.exs.cx/img12/52/byrne.jpg">

General / 2000AD mentions in the media
22 November, 2004, 07:42:54 PM
The Guardian TV reviewer on Saturday (name not to hand) began his column, 'If Judge Dredd burst into your house and demanded that you name daytime TV stars...', which seems to suppose a level of recognition among Guardian readers at least.

Is 2000AD really that high up in the public consciousness, or is it becoming more common to find journalists namechecking it?

General / rural deprivation
15 September, 2004, 03:54:42 PM
I've just moved from the city (Swansea - good comics shop, plenty of newsagents) to Scotland (Fife), and as well as having my regular comics supply cut off, it's a tooth dead zone! How do people manage here? WHS (the only local stockist)don't get their delivery till *Thursdays*, and when I mentioned the Meg, they shook their heads and claimed never to have seen it.

Subs here I come.

(And they have this weird thing called 'early closing'. How 50s.)
