Well, if we're going down that rabbit hole then my money is on City of the Damned Zombie Dredd being ported in by the Proteus team, tearing out Dredd's heart and feeding it to death.
He can team up with Kraken along the way ;-)

Jeez, I'm too old for comics. I have no recollection of any of that!

Ha, it's something I find happens quite regularly too- I can recall events from most comics I read as a kid or teen in intricate detail, yet a story from say two years ago (especially one that didn't really grab me)- fergettaboutit.

Pretty similar here, though even with stories I like at the time I won't necessarily remember any details.  I think around 600 - 700 is probably my limit.

Progs 600 to 700 that is, in case it wasn't clear from the context.

Website and Forum / News to Reviews
19 January, 2018, 09:32:55 PM
Any chance that 'news' threads about forthcoming releases can be moved to reviews once the thing (comic, novel, film, etc) actually comes out?  I'm thinking in particular of the My Life in the Command Centre threads, of which I think there were three - the one I started was because I couldn't find anything in reviews, despite being sure I'd seen a thread earlier (turns out it was in news, because at the time it was).

p.s. please!

It's also interesting right now looking at Electoral Calculus, which is quite accurate in terms of seat count. If an election were held today and the predictions proved accurate (unlikely – Con its usually underestimated)
It's not so much that the estimates are out, it's that people lie in opinion polls and don't want to admit that they vote Tory - it's called the Shy Tory Syndrome...

Quote(Again, people have a go at the Tories a lot, but they did at least go into coalition with the Lib Dems.)
Technically, yes - but wouldn't an actual coalition have involved them having an influence on policy, instead of just enabling them to carry out their own policies as if they'd had an actual majority?  The DUP has more influence on current Tory decisions than the Libs ever did, even though the DUP isn't in a coalition with them.

The poster claimed not to have a tv and that, because of this, had not heard of the programme in question. That is all. Not having a tv does not equate to an inability to watch tv programmes. I do not own a pogo stick but that doesn't mean I am unable to jump up and down.

There's been some disagreement about the original statement. I too surmised that the non-ownership of a TV had somehow been the reason that the poster hadn't heard of Spa Wars.

However, a more recent post (above) by MIK disputed that was the intention of the post, and that the fact the poster hadn't heard of Spa Wars was not in fact related to owning a TV, but rather the inference was that not having a TV was a good thing, because it meant that the poster wouldn't actually be able to WATCH Spa Wars.

So here we are. How does the poster watch Television programmes without a TV?

I would suggest that actually the poster in question CAN watch TV programmes, via alternative screens/ devices, and could actually watch Spa Wars (if they had heard of it, and were inclined to watch it), but instead chose to bring into the discussion the fact that they didn't own a TV, as if that somehow placed them on a higher intellectual plane, and a more discerning consumer of Television, than people who do own TVs, and might actually watch Spa Wars.

Hopefully the OP can confirm.

I really don't see why I should have to defend myself to somebody who's spent a number of posts over the past few pages attacking me.

Or alternatively, the phenomena are connected, because watching non-broadcast TV content tends to be a matter of deliberate active choice, rather than being at the mercies of whatever the schedules serve up at the moment you begin your flick through "<insert number> channels of shit on the TV to choose from".

The latter broadens one's awareness of what is current, whether you have any existing interest or not; the former leads to one seeking out the things that already pique same, irrespective of currency.

Hmm, but I've never heard of it, and I am subjected to the horrific, manipulative vagaries of broadcast TV scheduling. So we've BOTH never heard of it, and yet only of us thinks that pointing out they don't have a TV is the reason for not having any clue what Spa Wars is.

Like I said, it seemed an odd to think to introduce into a conversation, it adds nothing. It's like me saying "I don't read The Radio Times, so I have NO IDEA what TV programmes are on and when"

Although I have noticed that, much like vegans, people who don't own a TV (or have a TV licence) are easily identified because they'll tell you about it very quickly.

I've no idea why you're making these personal attacks against me, though to refute the allegation that I go on about it all the time - I've been at my current workplace for over a decade - somebody found out only the other week that I didn't have a TV.  No idea why I need to defend myself in this way, but life suddenly isn't seemingly so sort-of-okay...

The floppy for Meg 395 is apparently going to be a "Nemesis the Warlock monograph", though it isn't clear from the solicitation whether it will be 64 pages of just that or whether it will be backed up with something else - https://www.bleedingcool.com/2018/01/13/rebellion-april-2018-solicits/

I'm guessing there are no buyers of the Ultimate collection here...? The text piece in the back of the Nemesis books open 'taken from Rebellion's forthcoming Nemesis the Warlock: A monograph'.

Unfortunately not - I've got the original progs, the Eagle reprint, selected 'Best of 2000AD monthly' reprints, Titan reprints, the black and silver Titan reprint and couldn't really justify getting it all again, just for the few pages of support material - it was tempting though.  I had noticed the mention of the monograph on the Bleeding Cool page though - really looking forward to it - I think of Nemesis Book III as being the story that got me properly in to 2000AD (even though it didn't start until a month or two until I started buying the progs).

It's interesting, I think your opinion of Redondo on Nemesis is actually a pretty common one. People are down on Book 2 because it's not O'Neill, and while I can definitely see that because O'Neill's work is so amazing and distinctive I think it gives Redondo a rough deal. He's done some really neat work in book 2 that is worthy of inclusion in the larger Nemesis canon for sure! Though I'm certainly excited for the return of Kev in '83 :D

Yeah absolutely with you 100% on this. I yeah its not O'Neill good but damnit Redondo on Nemesis, taken on his own merits is absolutely amazing. I've waxed lyrical about it many times here before, and don't doubt I will again but Book 2 is a great story, with some astonishing art and a joy to read.

And this spiders are just so gloriously hairy!

So many great artists have worked on Nemesis down the years - I think I actually prefer Redondo's version of Novala to O'Neill's (Novala being the planet which Terrans attempted to terraform, but which outgrew the colonists).

How did you get indoctrinated, and how have you found your first three years?

When the Doctor Who resurgence happened, I got the bug pretty hard. This led me to the classic series and then even further down the rabbit hole into the Big Finish releases. That's where I first started to hear about 2000 AD. Even though their Dredd range was relatively inactive by this point, there seemed to be an overwhelming enthusiasm for the series with people constantly asking when/if they would return. So one day, when I saw the big display of Case Files in Forbidden Planet, I decided to give the first one a go.

I ended up picking up a couple more and then - intrigued by the twitter promo - I decided to give the jumping-on prog a try. I'd feared it would be difficult to jump in to all of the pre-established stories but there's something really approachable about 2000 AD. Over my first 18 months, story after story would be thrown at me and most of the time there would be just enough details for me to get up to speed and engaged. And for the more long running stories, there's always someone like Sinead or Volodina so I could be introduced to the characters through their eyes (much like how a new Doctor Who companion can introduce people to the show!).

I'm really glad I took the plunge. Now, 2000 AD has become a routine part of my week and introduced me to a bunch of amazing creators!

Have you started to catch up on the old stuff yet?

I've barely scratched the surface so I've still got most of the classics to look forward to. I plan to pick up a good chunk of the Ultimate collection since nearly all of it is going to be new to me.

Glad to have you aboard, welcome to the forum, and here's to years of reading pleasure ahead of you!

It's not a surprise we didn't hear a peep from the apesaga until (bizarrely) the year this film is set.

Battle... was followed-up by the live-action and cartoon TV series.

Plus a (Marvel?) comic series around the same time, and I think a Dark Horse one in the 1990s.
