Title: Cult vinyl
Post by: moly on 07 December, 2016, 07:36:54 PM
This has been advertised in the thrill mail post, so will this definitely have a new 2000ad figure each month ?

If you look on Dan's facebook page, he showed one of three pallets worth of the wee buggers.
That's Dan of Planet Replicas, just in case ;)

Check the 'my geek box' unboxing videos for October 2016.

This is what we want folks?

Correct and that's why I never shared the picture and started the hunger.

I'm not sure you'll get an image - they don't tend to preview what's in the box for these sort of things once they're up and running - it's all about the blind item - may be different for a launch though.

Just seen the pallet pic and I'm curious for sure. I would never sub to a monthly 'box' cos my Geek is too concentrated to put up with anything but 2000ad atm. I saw the vinyl 'pop' that was in a geek box previously and while its a cool looking little thing I wouldnt buy one. If the new fig is worth having I'll try to grab one off Ebay.

I'm still kinda shocked to see you breaking up the Cellar CF, you've been the go to guy since I got back into 2000ad again. Anything I wanted to know, see or discover I knew where to go.

Watched a couple of those videos, random tat's not for me but anything that spreads the good word is a good thing provided its not cheap and nasty. If its done by Planet Replicas it should be good (for its budget) though right ?

So does anyone know if there will be a 2000ad vinyl every month or is it a one off

Depends, Lootcrate made controled leaks for some of the items in the boxes. For example (from what I saw on FB becuase I'm not subscriber) they showed Doctor Strange figurine fbefore oder cutof for "Magic Crate".

The News blog says "These limited edition figures will be inspired by film, games and everything that makes pop culture so epic." so I assume not.

Come on, there might be a Life Less Ordinary and Urban Strike figure ;)

Have we any idea what these look like or has anyone ordered?

Seems an odd way to launch a new line of figures... inside a box with a reputation for remaindered tat.

Not really sure what I am allowed to talk about etc (I'm already on the 4th figure...)
I certainly hope to bring more 2000AD characters into the range , and I'm certainly happy I managed to get a 2k character as Number 1 !

Had an email from GeekBox in my Inbox this morning with an offer to get the December Geek Box subscription free (whatever that means) if ordered today. I assume it's a general thing because I've already taken out a subscription for the MyGeekBox but maybe other people can take advantage of this if they want to?
QuoteGET THIS MONTH'S GEEK BOX TODAY, SUBSCRIPTION FREE (http://www.mygeekbox.co.uk/merch-clothing/my-geek-box-december-2016/11388921.html?utm_source=ENMGB-_22122016-my-geek-box-subscription-free&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=ENMGB-_22122016-my-geek-box-subscription-free&affil=thgemail&utm_content=TCMemail&widget_id=476767)

Here's your chance to grab a slice of the Geek Box action, without subscribing! Don't miss out on this amazing opportunity to get hold of December's Geek Box subscription-free. Inside you'll find the first figure in our exclusive new range of vinyl collectibles, Cult Vinyl, as well as a calendar featuring the Merc with a Mouth - perfect for ensuring every day is geeky in 2017!

Order before 9pm tonight for free next day delivery!!

Use code: SANTA at checkout to redeem!
(I'm a little dubious about that "free next day delivery" offer this close to Christmas but who knows...?)

I did order the December geek box when it was announced but still waiting to receive, will wait to see what I get before committing to something that probably won't have much 2000ad though

Caved in and ordered only because PR have never let Squaxx down.

Am braced for a load of tat in the rest of it tho... Does remind me to shift on that nonsense from the Rogue Trooper Dog Tags Zbox.

Have NO idea who thinks buying these things a good idea.

I wouldn't subscribe, but they can be great for one-offs - It was well worth buying one for the PR movie Dredd badge, and the rest of the stuff (a decent T-shirt, mini lego set etc) was just gravy

Just stirring you mean, and showing your calibre as a man in the process.

As far as I'm aware nobody on this forum has evidenced a propensity to subscribe to nerd boxes so your point has zero weight and shows up what scrapings you'll scoop too. Classy.

found it on Instagram - oversized head thing like POP! Collectables. Not really my bag.

Not the worst tshirt (fairly anonymous) deadpool and Simpsons stuff of zero interest.

There's currently one on ebay:

Not really my thing, I'd rather put 15 quid towards the next 3A figure, but great for those who like caricature stuff!! :)

Be strong CF, the first few weeks of cold turkey are the worst ;)

Folk on Facebook are saying its a Donald Trump Jimp. Not my cup of tea but good luck to PR.

About 3 inches
Title: Re: Cult vinyl

There's a tiny hands gag to be made.
Title: Re: Cult vinyl
Post by: Mardroid on 24 December, 2016, 01:00:26 PM
It's not that bad.

I think it's the chin that actually spoils it. It's a roundish chin, riffing off Karl Urban (which is fair enough) but positioned how it is in that big head makes him look like he's got a double chin.

On the other hand, the Pop! Heroes Judge Dredd, doesn't even have a slash for a mouth, a mis-step, I think, although I am fond of that figure. (He looks great next to a similar Darth Vader figure on my shelf. Hee hee.)

As an example of a Pop Vinyl type thing with a movie Dredd uniform, I think it's okay, from the little I've seen. I think I'd be happy to get one.

It is growing on me and it does have a detachable lawgiver
Title: Re: Cult vinyl
Post by: BPP on 24 December, 2016, 01:59:51 PM
It just arrived here.
Doubt I'll unbox it and not worth the cash but not terrible. I think it's more the 'big head' style of these has no appeal to me.

Give credit to MyGeekBox tho - a full GN (turncoat - not the image series rather this - turncoatcomic.com) a wearable tshirt (NWA's logo repurposed to say 'straight out of Gotham') the Dredd figure, a Simpsons figure and a deadpool Callander. Seems a full swag bag even if little appeals to me.

the problem with all these loot box crate geeks is that they will invariably miss as often as they hit then you are buying stuff that isnt really for you. Over the months you build a heap of unwanted genre merch. Great for presents for friends for a bit but it soon wears thin.
