I heard the news elsewhere, but this seemed the logical place to write something. Now I'm here I don't know what to say, except what so many of you have already said. Stewart was generous with his time, his knowledge and even his own comics. His complete command of Dredd lore came with no attitude of superiority, in fact he was one of the easiest people to get on with and very funny. You know all this. I feel lucky to have had drinks with him on a few occasions. I liked him a lot.

Thank you John Burdis for keeping us informed as far as possible. And PJ, that pic is a beauty.

somewhere out there there is a very good 'swipe files' showing Ian Kennedy using tracing paper on a McMahon Dredd. So at least he had taste.

Here's an Ian Kennedy Dredd from 'Swipe or Coincidence?', a short lived feature on the old McMahon fan site:

And one by Cam Kennedy:

By the way, the voting form on that site is kaput now.

Hello, thought I'd pop in to say thanks to TLS and the rest of you for making me welcome over the last few weeks. I was sorry to miss Adrian, but glad to hear things are going well for him.

Anyway, thanks to Colin for the whisky recommendations and hope to see you next week.

Off Topic / Live8 Edinburgh: Anybody get tickets?
21 June, 2005, 12:19:46 AM
Hi,

I read His Lordship's thread about the London concert, but has anyone got tickets to the Murrayfield gig on 6th July?
I'm assuming if I'd won, I would have heard by now, but as I don't know anyone else who texted in for them I can't tell whether I should admit defeat just yet...

Anyone been lucky?

Here's the link for the planting trees website.

It's not as expensive as I thought it would be (I seem to remember a trip to Poland cost me one tree @ ?10) They don't just do trees, you can also buy energy-saving lightbulbs for a household in a developing country.

cheers

I'll be there, ostensibly plugging the Triffids strip and flogging original artwork but really just looking forward to seeing and drinking with comic people.

Art and Oddboy,

Sorry to hear you're experiencing technical difficulties. There's not much I can do about it, but I'll pass on your comments to the person who does the website.

Can you tell me exactly what happens when you try to view the files? Have you tried downloading the PDFs and then opening them locally instead of viewing them in browser? What version of Acrobat Reader do you have? What OS and Browser? I'll report all this to the web people.

General / The Day of The Triffids comic

Hi, everyone.

A while ago I promised I'd tell the board when my adaptation of The Day Of The Triffids was online. Well, you can now download all 12 episodes, as PDFs, at the link below.
I adapted the serial from John Wyndham's great novel for the Great Bristol Reading Adventure. It was published daily in the Evening Post from 12th - 24th January.

Hope you like it!

I just want to apologise for the shocking lack of updates on the Art of McMahon website. I am hoping to have more free time on my hands soon. Revamping that site is high on my list.

cheers,

That reminds me of another Fry and Laurie sketch with two upper class individuals seated at opposite ends of a very long dining table. One says, "Pass the marmalade" and the other, so far away he can hardly hear, replies, "Arse the parlourmaid?"

It was #11, Shakara.

I'd be interested to know if this was the only issue not inked by BB. I'd assumed Terry Austin inked all of it, but from what's been said here about schedule problems towards the end, maybe he was brought in on #11 to help Bolland's workload.

The only issue of Camelot 3000 I saw was pencilled by Bolland but inked by Terry Austin who appeared to have used felt tip pens instead of BB's fine brush. It wasn't pretty.

Not much consolation Paul, but I've just heard my Day of The Triffids comic strip will be going on the web. I'll let you know when it's up, if you fancy a Wyndham hit.
